2 IDM SCHOOL OF MENTORSHIP WITH HEMA VALLABH Accelerating the development of emerging talent is a key challenge for all organisations operating in Africa. Those organisations that have effective mentoring capabilities are better able to control and reduce overall costs of learning and leadership development, whilst at the same time accelerating the development of their HIPOs and deepening their successor pools. Sectors are developing fast and economies are growing at such a pace that organisations are competing ever more fiercely for scarce talent. Learning & Development departments are struggling to keep up with the development demand. The scale of the developmental challenge is daunting. The need in many markets and sectors is to grow skills and experience faster than nature would normally allow. Mentoring is an efficient and (when practiced correctly) highly effective way of rapidly building skills and capabilities in emerging leaders. As mentors senior executives and middle managers have a vital role to play in supporting the development of the leadership skills organisations need to succeed. The role they play in deliberately mentoring emerging talent can be very significant in supporting both individual and corporate performance. A mature practice and culture of mentoring also differentiates the organisation to potential recruits; reduces succession risk; leverages L&D spend; and reduces the financial and operational risk associated with under experienced leaders in senior positions (which is often a feature of fast growing organisations). IDM aims to create a paradigm-shift in the way Mentorship is understood and practiced as a leadership development tool in Africa. To do this we offer a new and powerful set of experiential training, both public and bespoke. IDM is the first institution on the continent to train and qualify Mentorship Practitioners through our comprehensive programs, offered exclusively through the IDM School of Mentorship. Through our programs Mentorship Practitioners are equipped to deliver and build comprehensive Mentorship capability within their organisations, including training mentors and mentees; program design and delivery; and quality assurance and oversight of mentoring capabilities within the organisation.

3 ABOUT HEMA VALLABH Hema Vallabh is the Director of the IDM School of Mentorship. Hema, who attests much of her success to her being a product of Mentorship, started the School of Mentorship, to address the severely lacking need for sound and impactful Mentorship programs on the continent. With a dynamic array of experience in designing, building and successfully operating Mentorship programs, Hema has become a Mentorship specialist developing key content and interventions through her Mentorship Institute, culminating in pioneering the profession of Mentorship Practitioners. Hema has partnered with the IDM to deliver her game-changing Mentorship Practitioner Program exclusively through the School of Mentorship on the continent. She acts as the faculty leader for the program and, in addition to leading the program delivery for the Mentorship Practitioner Program; she oversees all additional training and interventions offered through the IDM School of Mentorship. MENTORSHIP PRACTITIONER PROGRAM The Mentorship Practitioner Program is the first course to formally qualify individuals to practice holistically in the field of Mentorship. Extending beyond the skills of delivering Mentor and Mentee training, Mentorship Practitioners are trained extensively to develop, design and implement Mentorship Programs across an array of thematic areas which include, but are not limited to, setting relevant KPI's, building mentoring tools and implementing effective monitoring & evaluation systems to ensure effective and sustainable Mentorship is effected into practice. The Mentorship Practitioner Program is structured into three modules, with the core outlined below: Module 1: Module 2: Module 3: Foundations of Mentorship Thematic Mentorship Nuts & Bolts Foundations of Mentorship Business Mentorship How to build a Mentorship program Mentorship as a Leadership Women Mentorship Mentoring Program Development tool and Diagnostic Tools Mentor Training Framework Cross Cultural Mentorship Monitoring & Evaluation Mentee Training Framework Graduate Mentorship Program sustainability The 2015 Mentorship Practitioner Program will take place in Johannesburg, South Africa. The program is delivered over a period of 9 months and is broken up into 3 x 5 day modules. Subsequent programs in 2016 and beyond will take place in Johannesburg as well as elsewhere in the region. Programs can be tailored to the needs of the organisation and can be delivered on site as required.

4 ACCREDITATION PROCESS There are two certificates awarded after successful completion of the Mentorship Practitioner Program. The first is the Certificate of Excellence in Mentorship, awarded by the IDM School of Mentorship. This certificate is awarded to successful students that achieve the exacting standards as specified in this document. The second is a Mentorship Practitioner License awarded by the Global Community of Mentorship Practitioners (GCOMPs). GCOMPs is the international regulatory body that governs the practice of Mentorship Practitioners. This community is led internationally by Hema Vallabh and includes IDM and a group of specialised international leadership consultancies and organisations. In sub-saharan Africa this certificate is offered exclusively by IDM. Continuous professional development (CPD) is a requirement of GCOMPs and is required to renew the Mentorship Practitioner License every two years. This can be achieved by regular interaction with IDM and the active employment and maintenance of the skills acquired through the program. The Certificate is quality-assured by the personal involvement of Hema Vallabh throughout the delegate s journey. Certification is not based on attendance of sessions or completion of assignments alone, but is rather based on the demonstrated ability to practice effectively as a Mentorship Practitioner. The certification process includes practical peer mentoring, pro bono client mentoring, being mentored and active involvement in design and supervision of Mentorship processes. If the required standards are met, a certificate will be awarded on completion of the program PROGRAM FRAMEWORK The program is delivered over a period of 9 months. The program structure is as follows: - Three one-week in person training sessions facilitated by selected Mentorship specialists - A virtual learning component made up of a minimum of six virtual group learning sessions facilitated by guest facilitators both local and abroad - An enneagram assessment - A minimum of 8 hours of one-on-one experiential Mentorship sessions (as Mentor and Mentee) - Practical assignments and journal submissions - Three online assessments at the completion of each Module

5 PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS In order to graduate, each student will be required to: - Complete three one-week in person training sessions - Participate in a minimum of 3 scheduled virtual sessions during Module 1 and Module 2 - Host 2 generic Mentor and 2 generic Mentee training sessions in Module 1 - Host 2 themed Mentor and 2 themed Mentee training sessions in Module 2 - Engage in a minimum of 8 hours of experiential Mentorship with an allocated Mentor and complete the prescribed post-mentoring reflections - Engage in a minimum of 8 hours experiential Mentorship with an allocated Mentee and complete the prescribed post-mentoring reflections - Submit completed journals as prescribed in Module 1 and Module 2 - Submit the completed project for Module 3 - Complete all online assessments WHO SHOULD ATTEND THE PROGRAM? The program is designed as an enhancement qualification for professionals currently working in the people and/or leadership development space. These include: Coaches Leadership development facilitators & consultants HR Practitioners Talent Managers Line Managers Program coordinators (Business/ NGO/ Project) Individuals currently involved in Mentor and/or Mentee training activities BENEFITS OF THE PROGRAM Upon completing the Mentorship Practitioner Program, practitioners will be equipped with the unique Mentorship skill-set which will enable them to: - Work within organisations to build in-house mentoring capability - Establish and oversee a mentorship community within organisations - Advise HR and business leaders on how to engage talent and optimise the EVP - Advise HR and business leaders on the quality of career planning and efficiency L&D spend - Have the option of undergoing a Master Mentorship Practitioner Program to facilitate sessions in future Mentorship Practitioner Programs - For independents, work as a highly sort after Mentorship Practitioners offering tailor-made Mentorship training and services.

6 PROGRAM COSTS: The cost of the program is ZAR 65,000 per person (excluding VAT). A maximum of 20 students will be enrolled for the 9-month program.
