We believe that connecting with other community members can be just as powerful as volunteering. Getting involved, while giving back can help shape a better foundation for years to come. Whether it be finding an organization to volunteer with or planning a quarterly event for a specific charity, we are here to impact the community, not just one organization. Services Planning & Coordinating Fundraising Events: We provide support to local non-profit organizations through event fundraising - both large and small. From the event concept to the final event date, we are there to help 501(c)3 organizations raise funds for their organization to continue succeed. Social Media & Marketing Promotions: As a millennial based organization, we can help promote events organically and help with advertising solutions. We regularly help promote events via Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and electronic newsletters. We also have the resources to help with graphic design and website/ IT support. Sponsorship & Donations: Our goal is to get the community involved and that includes local businesses. Raising awareness for local non-profit organizations requires sponsorships and every dollar we help raise comes from Kansas City locals and stays here in Kansas City. Volunteer Support: We understand that many local non-profit organizations raise awareness through small fundraising events that do not require our planning services, that is why we also help find volunteers to staff events, if needed. 3 date auction Each year SocialHeart nominates 20 Kansas City professionals to represent a date package ranging from dinner for two at a local restaurant to a plane ride for a bird s eye view of downtown. All date packages are coordinated by the date auction candidate and donated to our event. Guests live bid on each candidate s date package that night. This a very high-energy event that brings in around 300 guests each year! The venue: The 2015 Date Auction will be held on the outdoor Liberty Memorial Observation Deck, offering spectacular panoramic views of Kansas City s downtown skyline. The 217-foot Liberty Memorial Tower provides the perfect centerpiece for this year s event and will feature tours to the top! Benefiting Charity: All proceeds raised at the 2015 Date Auction will benefit the Ronald McDonald House of Kansas City. Past Events: On Friday, February 7th, 2014 SocialHeart threw the 4th Annual Date Auction at the Alamo Drafthouse. The night started off by granting a Kansas City Dream Factory recipient, 9 year old Averi, with a trip to Disney World! Followed by that, 20 male and female candidates hosted date packages ranging from suite tickets to Sporting KC, flight around KC, to a ticket to every show at Cricket Wireless. With over 100 people bidding, the event raised $14,000 for Dream Factory of Kansas City. The 3rd Annual benefiting the Women s Foundation of Kansas City and raised $12,500 for the wonderful organization. The Women s Foundation promotes equity and opportunity for women and girls, using philanthropy, research and policy solutions to make meaningful change. The 1st and 2nd annual date auction went to benefit to the Leukemia Lymphoma Society of Greater Kansas City. Between both years the organization received over $21,000 to continue their research and path to finding the cure for many forms of Leukemia and Lymphoma. 4 Benefiting Charity The Ronald McDonald House Charities of Kansas City s mission is to reduce the burden of childhood illness on children and their families by providing a home away from home while the children are receiving medical care in Kansas City-area hospitals. When a child is diagnosed with a serious illness, families face emotional distress, financial strains and many other devastating consequences. In addition to attending to the complicated medical needs of their children, families struggle to remain together, maintain their jobs, care for other children or family members, keep up with medical and out-of-pocket expenses, and address the psychosocial effects on their children. Because of Ronald McDonald House Charities, families are not forced to spend their days and nights in a crowded waiting room or in the isolation of expensive hotel rooms. Instead, they come home to their Houses and Family Room and find a friendly face, a home-cooked meal, a comfortable bed, a hot shower and a calming place to rejuvenate. Instead of focusing on these worries, families can be near to and provide comfort for their medically fragile child, which studies have shown can have a positive effect on the child s recovery. On any given night, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Kansas City serves 67 families. Last year, their Houses and Family Room provided lodging to more than 4,000 families as well as opened their doors to support nearly 64,000 visits from family and friends of in-patients at Children s Mercy Hospital. 6 Interested in being a candidate? We're thrilled you are interested in becoming a 2015 Date Auction Candidate! This is an amazing opportunity whether you are looking to get involved in our community; if you are interested in getting your company s name out there; or if you simply love to have fun while giving back! This event is exciting for both candidates, those bidding and guests simply attending. Below are some outlined details of what you should expect and what we are looking for in a candidate. Timeline: May 14th: All candidate meeting July 30th: All Candidate Happy Hour & Package Collection August 3rd: Rehearsal at Liberty Memorial August 7th: The Big Event at Liberty Memorial Observation Deck Ideal Package Items: Items that are more valuable and exclusive are ideal. Especially if it is something that you simply cannot purchase, i.e. a private backstage tour of the Kauffman Center or a meet and greet with a band after a concert. Sports items such as season tickets, group suite tickets, autographed items, etc. go over very well. Think outside of Kansas City! Airline tickets, overnight stay in a luxury hotel in a big city, festivals, awards shows, etc. All items must be worth $100 at minimum. Your final date package must have a dollar value of $1,000 or more. You are welcome to receive monetary donations, but it MUST be spent on items for your date package OR donated back to the event so the benefitting charity will receive those funds. Tips on Getting a Successful Bid: Invite one to two people or groups that will plan on bidding on your package before hand. Make sure they know what order you are being auctioned off in and that they are at the front of the event so they can hear! Guests are allowed to pool their funds together to ensure a larger amount is available to bid with. Market your date package for at least 3 weeks leading up to the event on social media, through word of mouth, and by ing friends and colleagues, etc.
