10 Celebrating The World Environment Day, 2015 We at Trident, Nariman Point & The Oberoi, Mumbai celebrated The World Environment Day on 5 th June 2015 by organizing a host of activities to create awareness towards protecting and preserving our home among team members. The theme for 2015 was GREENING THE BLUE', which is about how the wellbeing of humanity, the environment and economies ultimately depend on responsible management of the planet s natural resources. THE GREEN DAY : 5 th June, 2015 On the 5 th June, The World Environment Day, we started the day at 7.00 am by Talk Green Walk Green with team members in order to promote awareness about the importance of clean and green environment. We walked 2000 m at the Marine Drive which was refreshing and stimulating for all of us.

11 During the day we did a Plant a sapling drive with the team members children, who planted saplings at a nursery located at the Trident Pool Garden. The event also started buzzing at Beehive, our cafeteria during the meal periods. Posters and tent cards on the tables : We spread the word through interactive posters talking about the importance of the World Environment Day. We also displayed the Environment Day Anthem tent cards on the dining tables. The Anthem is by poet-diplomat Abhay K was launched in June 2013 on the occasion of the World Environment Day by Kapil Sibal and Shashi Tharoor, Union Ministers of India at a function organized by the Indian Council of Cultural Relations in New Delhi. Green Corner : A separate corner displaying the themes of Environment Day was created at the entrance of the cafeteria which displayed the following : - History and information on World Environment Day - Themes of World Environment Day - Knowledge on growing Indoor / Outdoor plants and on medicinal properties of some common home plants such as Tulsi, Aloe Vera etc. - Green Planters

12 Videos: Short videos on Importance Of Creating Green and Clean Environment were played during tea / lunch breaks. The day ended with an exciting Interdepartmental Poster making competition. The theme being GREENING THE BLUE. All colorful posters were displayed at the Beehive, our cafeteria alley. The posters were judged by our Housekeeper

13 and Engineer where the participants explained the true meaning of their depictions and understating on the theme. Top 3 posters were declared Winners. We also conducted an exciting quiz at the evening tea time at Beehive, where 20 questions related to Environment Day were asked. It created a great hype in the team and Green Tea were gifted as gifts.

19 ENVIRONMENT DAY AT TRIDENT UDAIPUR On the occasion of World Environment Day. The team Trident did a green walk with posters to spread awareness, did plantation to add some tree to the nature. In our team dining room we had an Organic Food Stall where team members were exposed to the organic food stuff which are available to eat and remain healthy. Organic Juice was served to every team members.

27 Small Contributory steps We at The Oberoi Vanyavilas are strong believers in the notion of not saving the environment on one day but making sustained efforts to protect and sustain it on a daily basis. On the occasion of 05 th June being the environment day, the team got together again and took some steps which would contribute towards prolonging the value of the areas.

28 Activities for 05 th June Clean the Environment: The team got together to clean the STP area in the hotel as that area has a lot of leaf shedding. Composting: The cleaning drive culminated in the team carrying the waste leaves and sticks and adding it to the pile of existing compost. Sapling Plantation: The team planted 15 new plants in the property. Guest Activity: Sapling plantation for the guests was done. Theme Lunch: A menu pertaining to the theme was created for the team during lunch. NO Smoking Day: Today the team played their part by not smoking for the duration of the working day and reducing the smoke level in the environment. Contractors Awareness Session: The contractors were made aware of ways in which they could contribute to the environment. Best out of Waste: An activity was organized for the team to come up with creative ways to use waste and to create slogans that would depict the preservation of the environment.

41 World Environment Day On World Environment Day, team Amarvilas also put their bit in creating awareness to protect our nature and the planet Earth. With Team Trident Agra, early morning we done green march till Taj Trapezium Zone with an environment day slogans, which aims to emphasize the importance of protecting our planet. Everybody was in a green attire, reaffirming the pledge to protect environment and make the planet cleaner and greener. After reaching Taj Trapezium Zone everybody planted one sapling in the forest land in collaboration with the Forest Department with a motive of spreading awareness for the clean and green environment.

43 Later at 11:00 am Poster Making competition was organised, where Children of employees had participated enthusiastically. Little kids painted their imagination over the canvas and the theme was Save Our Environment. They thoroughly enjoyed the whole competition. Out of two age group categories, 3 winners from each category were announced. Certificate of Appreciation was given to the children for their active participation.

44 In the evening team Amarvilas took an initiative to help the gardeners to show their appreciation towards them in maintaining the green covers in the hotel. Also a Green Movie was screened for employees, again with the idea of creating the awareness on World Environment Day. Entire day was the tribute to the World Environment Day: Preservation, Rejuvenation and Restoration of environment are on top priority for us.

52 Environment week NO DUSTBIN DAY No dustbin day was organized and portioning was done during breakfast lunch and dinner so as to send the message to the team for reducing wastages.

53 Environment week NO PAPER PRINTING DAY No paper printing day was celebrated in the hotel wherein the back of the house team was encouraged not to take the print outs and communicate on mails or telephonically. It was a big success and the team participated whole heartedly.

54 Environment week CAR POOL FOR ENTIRE WEEK The entire week was celebrated as car pool week. The team members pooled in cars to come and go from the hotel thus showcasing the importance of conserving diesel and petrol and also helping in reducing the pollution.

55 Environment week POSTER MAKING COMPETITION Inter department poster making competition was organized with the theme of environment. The idea was to spread awareness with regard to fragile environment. Best poster form the Housekeeping team was awarded

56 Environment week SLOGAN WRITING COMPETITION Inter department slogan competition was organized with the theme of environment. The idea was to spread awareness with regard to fragile environment. Best slogan as per the judge was form the Engineering team which was awarded

57 Environment week WALK FOR TEAM A walk was conducted for the team into the water catchment sanctuary. The team was educated regarding the importance of trees in the environment by our naturalist. The team also got an opportunity to gain insight into the various flora and fauna around Wildflower Hall.

58 Environment week SESSION FOR THE TEAM A session was taken by Dr. Sahibi, CEO Eco Tourism, Himachal Pradesh. The session was aimed at enlightening team members with regard to the importance of preserving the environment.

59 Environment week VIDEOS & DOCUMANTRIES Videos and documentaries for team members, contract team members, local people from chharabra market was shown at various places in the premises of the hotel to educate them on the importance of conserving the fragile environment.

60 Environment week SAPLING PLANTATION TEAM The team planted saplings of cedar tree in the water catchment sanctuary and also in the premises of Wildflower Hall. The idea was to educate the team on the importance of increasing the green cover.

61 Environment week SAPLING PLANTATION COMMUNITY Team Wildflower Hall encouraged the local community to plant saplings of the cedar trees and plants in the nearby areas. Go green was the motto.

62 Environment week SAPLING PLANTATION GUESTS The guests staying in the hotel also participated enthusiastically in the plantation of saplings done in the premises of Wildflower Hall.

63 Environment week VISIT TO DIFFERENTLY ABLED SCHOOL Poster making competition was organized for the differently abled students. The competition was won by Binod Kumar from 10 th standard. Also 2 nd, 3 rd and consolation prizes were distributed.

64 Environment week VISIT DIFFERENTLY ABLED SCHOOL The children got together and sapling and plants were planted in the school premises. Post that the students were served with juice and snacks.
