1 Welcome to Stockholm The Green Capital of Europe 2010 Day 1 Arrival to Arlanda Airport. A transfer bus with guide is waiting for us. It takes about 50 minutes from Arlanda to the hotel. On the way to our 4 *hotel in the centre of Stockholm we get information about Sweden and Stockholm. Example of hotels: Scandic Anglais or Scandic Continental, Nordic Light which is a design hotel or the charming Diplomat Hotel situated right by the waterfront. All 4* hotels with good conference facilities. The Scandic Hotels and Nordic Light do have the Scandinavian environmental certificate The Swan. The bus and guide is waiting for us and after check in at the hotel we go to the Royal National City Park the first City National Park in the world. Here we meet an expert of the Park, and we enjoy the beautiful landscape and learn about the conflict between the growing city and the nature. We have all got a small pick nick bag and it s nice with a coffee break in the park. After about 1,5 2 hours in the park we go back to the hotel by bus.

2 18.30 Our guide meets us in the lobby of the hotel and we walk to the charming Old Town with the narrow alleys. The oldest parts from the 1300 th century. It s interesting to hear about the life in the Old Town today and in the past. We will for example walk by the Royal Castle and Storkyrkan, the church where the Crown Princess Victoria will get married to her fiancé Daniel in June After the tour our guide will leave us and we eat a two course dinner at one of the charming restaurants in the Old Town. A bus pick us up at the restaurant and drive to Absolut Ice Bar. A cold end of the evening with a drink at Absolut Ice Bar, where it s 5 degrees all around the year. Our visit includes a warm cape, gloves, an ice-cool feeling of exhilaration and an Absolut Vodka cocktail of our choice from the drinks menu, served in an ice glass! We leave the Ice Bar since the visit is limited to 40 minutes. Time for bed or night life in Stockholm. Many hotels are situated within 5-10 minutes walking distance from the Ice Bar. If it s summer experience the beautiful light Swedish night and walk back to the hotel. From the end of May until middle of July it s almost light all around the clock. Day Breakfast buffet at the hotel. Our guide meets us in the lobby of the hotel. We walk to the Green Tech Building (most hotels are in 5-10 minutes walking distance) and on the way our guide tells us the story about the Old Klara Quarters which was destroyed when the modern Stockholm was built in the 1960s. Green Tech Building is a project and showroom for leading Greenand Clean Tech companies in Sweden. It is a private meeting place for visitors from all over the world and they welcome groups with certain interest in this subject. We get a guided tour in the virtual exhibition area where we among a lot of other things get information about Seabased AB a company which develops industrial solutions for sustainable conversion of ocean wave energy to electricity.

3 10.30 We walk (5 minutes walking distance) to Kulturhuset (The Culture House) situated in the very centre of Stockholm at the big plaza, Sergels Torg, On our way we make some stops to hear the history about Sergels Torg and Kulturhuset. Both of them have been quite controversial. Since it s opening in 1974 Kulturhuset has offered culture in all imaginable shapes. Last year Kulturhuset had 3 million visitors and here you can see exhibitions of photography, art and design. Listen to music, see dance and theatre performances and meet writers. Read papers and magazines from all over the world and visit the only library for Comics and Graphic Novels in Sweden. Kulturhuset is interesting for many reasons and one of them is that on the roof they have solar cells creating electricity and many of the lamps lightening this big building are led lamps. When we arrive to Kulturhuset we get a guided tour by Kulturhusets former real estate manager, who tells us the story to make the house more environmentally friendly One course lunch with coffee either at Kulturhusets roof café or in their regular café with a splendid view of the city life in Stockholm. Bus transfer to GlasHus1 Symbio City and Hammarby Sjöstad. During our 20 minutes transfer we will pass Fjällgatan, one of the oldest street in the area of Stockholm called Söder (The South). From Fjällgatan we have a great view of Stockholm and Gröna Lund, a historic amusement park with a mix of new and older attractions

Stockholm Water Company, Fortum and Stockholm Waste Management Administration have jointly integrated the technical supply systems to an eco-cycle model. We will get an overview at GlashusEtt, the centre for environmental communication to the inhabitants of Hammarby Sjöstad Back at the hotel The evening is free Day Breakfast buffet at the hotel After we have checked out from the hotel a bus pick us up for a 45 minutes transfer to Stavsnäs and Runmarö in the Stockholm Archipelago. Here we will be met by our three leaders and get information and equipment for a kayak paddling tour in the beautiful archipelago with about islands. It s only people living on a few of them. During the kayak tour we eat a pick nick lunch at one of the islands.

5 13.00 We leave Stavsnäs and go by bus directly to Arlanda airport and fly back home. The transfer takes about 1,5 hours.
