1 THE BIG PICTURE David Krakauer and the 35mm Orchestra Technical Rider Performance Run Time: 80 minutes, no intermission PRODUCTION AND STAGING REQUIREMENTS Minimum stage requirement: 20ft x 20ft Hard wood stage floor to be in good shape meaning no split seams, warped or protruding edges, free of splintering, and hopefully painted Black with a Satin Finish. Two (2) bar stool height stools One (1) drum stool Six (6) music stands with clip lights SOUND SYSTEM Presenter agrees to provide a high-quality (minimum of 16 channels) sound system. House electrical power must be properly grounded and of proper amperage to provide hum-and noise-free operation of sound system. If electrical power or grounding is not adequate, arrangements should be made to set up proper circuitry for the day of the performance. Six (6) monitors with 6 monitor mixes TECHNICAL SET-UP 1. David Krakauer - Clarinet One (1) vocal microphone (SM58 or similar) with boom stand Two (2) high quality instrumental microphones (Neumann or Senheiser 421 or similar) each with boom stands o One for upper half of the clarinet and one for the bell Suggested EQ for monitor mix: o Hi Mic 125 Hz and 425 Hz w Hi Pass 100 Hz o Lo Mic 315 Hz w Hi Pass 80 Hz 2. Piano and Keyboards One (1) Grand Piano (Yamaha, Steinway or Baldwin) minimum of 5 feet in length, tuned to A440 before sound check One (1) Roland RD700NX keyboard with sustain and volume pedals for RD700NX One (1) heavy duty adjustable 2-tier keyboard stand o Top tier for small keyboard 49 key 28.5 Two (2) Yamaha FC3 pedals One (1) keyboard amp (Roland Chorus amp preferred) One (1) adjustable piano bench Headphones to use with RD700NX for programming during rehearsal 3. Bass One (1) top quality carved double bass with D Addario, Zyex or Thomastik Spirocore Medium gauge strings and an adjustable bridge. The instrument must be set up to the highest standards of playability. Thomastik Dominant Strings are also fine. Suggested string heights in mm. o G String 6-7 mm o D String 7-8 mm o A String 7-9 mm o E String 9-10 mm Please note: Plywood, laminated student basses are not acceptable 6/16 Page 1

3 VISUAL PROJECTIONS The artist will provide a Macbook Pro with software Playback Pro Plus. The video source material is on a G-tech, Raid 1TB hard drive and is 1920 x 1080, Apple ProRes 422 (HQ). The presenting organization is to provide: 1. Projector HD, 3-Chip, DLP projector: 10,000 ANSI Lumens (preferably Barco, Digital Projection, NEC or Panasonic) plus lenses to fit the throw. Alternate models may be acceptable if it meets the specs, subject to Artist s approval. XLR cables to connect to (XLR to mini-stereo plug adapter cable, supplied by company s operator) to hardwire the video projector remote to projector. Audio output from laptop to 3.5 mm Mini to RCA Stereo Audio Cable to a Direct Box to your mixing console Presenter must provide theater layout including stage dimensions and the distance from the projector to the screen It is important to the production that the projector be at least 10,000 (10K) lumens. Please complete the information below indicating what make/model and size projector you have in house: Make/model and size of projector: Signature of Venue s Technical Contact: 2. Projector Screen Screen size: 11 3 x20 if stage size allows. If stage size does not allow then the screen dimensions must be 9 x16 with Dress Kit. Rear projection is strongly preferred 3. Video Monitor/equipment/cables 27 HD flat screen video monitor One (1) Guitar stand for monitor HDMI/DVI DA s that feeds the video projector & artist monitor HDMI/DVI cable runs to all the equipment CREW The Artist travels with one projectionist, one (1) show producer and six (6) musicians in total. The mandatory crew list in this section includes the total number of qualified and professional stagehands required for presentation of the production, and should be considered the total number of crew needed for load in, during the show, and for load out. Crew List: Two (2) Stagehands in stage blacks, one stage right, one stage left to assist with load-in, performance and load-out One (1) Lighting Engineer One (1) Sound Engineer for both rehearsals and performance Presenter will provide a crew member for each of the aforementioned positions who is familiar with Presenter s venue. All crew members must have prior knowledge and experience with all systems and equipment, equipment conditions, operative techniques, and safety requirements concerning their assigned duties. 6/16 Page 3
4 The below diagram outlines the blocks of time during which Presenter will provide the above crew members. Specific call times for tech and shows vary based on schedule and will be specified in itineraries forwarded to venue by Baylin Artists Management. Specific lighting is not required for performance. SOUND AND LIGHTING CHECK All sound equipment and backline must be wired, set up and fully prepared for use at the time of the band s arrival. Artist Load-in should begin no later than six (6) hours before doors open. Sound check should begin three (3) hours before doors open. Presenter shall not open house until technical set-up has been completed. Artist shall complete such setup one (1) hour prior to performance time provided there are no technical problems beyond Artists control. House lights will be dimmed five (5) minutes before curtain to facilitate audience seating. No background music, pre-recorded or otherwise, shall be played before or after the concert without approval of Artist. *Above times are approximate. Final schedule to be confirmed with Baylin Artists Management prior to performance. Artist Rider HOTEL ACCOMMODATIONS If Presenter is providing lodging, Presenter will make reservations at a high-quality 4-star hotel equivalent to or better than Sheraton, Hyatt, Hilton or Marriott. Artists require eight (8) single-occupancy nonsmoking rooms. Accommodations must have private bathroom facilities, free wi-fi/internet access, and a 24-hour telephone system. It is preferred that hotel be in close proximity to performance venue. No guesthouse accommodation permitted. TRANSPORTATION If arriving by air, the Artist will require the following for transportation from the airport to the hotel and from hotel to venue for all performances, rehearsals, residency activities, load-in, etc: Vehicle to accommodate a group of eight (8) people plus their luggage, such as 15-passenger van Please list the airports to which you are able to supply transportation and also list the approximate distance and time from airport to venue. 5 *Presenter will be contacted approximately days prior to performance date to discuss transportation details or a rental reimbursement option. All arrangements must be finalized no later than one (1) week from artists arrival date. HOSPITALITY The following refreshments shall be provided: Available at load-in: Presenter to provide one (1) liter of bottled water for each member of the band and crew. In addition, presenter must also provide fresh, healthy appetizers such as raw vegetables, fresh assorted fruits, olives, nuts, hummus, healthy cheese and non-cheese based dips, coffee, teas and sparkling water. No candy or fast food. Available two (2) hours before scheduled performance time: A hot meal for eight (8) to be served at or in close proximity to the venue or at local restaurant. Meal options should be healthy, ie. grilled chicken, boneless fish, steamed vegetables, brown rice, etc. There are two (2) vegetarians. If the presenter cannot arrange for on-site catering or a meal at a local restaurant, group will accept a meal buy-out of $25/person. DRESSING ROOMS Presenter to provide two (2) dressing rooms each equipped with mirror, running water, dry towels, an ironing board and iron, and a bathroom, available at load-in. Dressing rooms shall be secured during Artist s sound check and performance. INTERNET ACCESS The Presenter must supply internet options at the venue whether it be access to computers or internet connection (passwords) for personal laptops. CONCESSIONS The Artist sells CD s before the performance and after the performance. Presenter will provide a table, change, and a volunteer to sell the CD s. Table should be prepared and volunteers available 40 minutes before the beginning of the performance.
