Its qualifications are widely recognised and valued by both multinational and local business organisations. Some concessions apply to courses marked and some courses are eligible for loan financing marked Level 2 Certificate in Accounting This AAT Level 2 Certificate covers the following units: basic costing, processing bookkeeping transactions, computerised accounting, working effectively in accounting and finance, control accounts, journals and the banking system. This is qualification is through the UK s largest awarding organisation, Edexcel. On this course you will study a range of different texts and learn how writers use language to achieve particular effects, to influence and engage the reader. You will learn how to write clearly with accurate punctuation and will also improve your speaking and listening skills. The course works at a very fast pace, so regular attendance and homework is essential. This course is free to UK and EU residents who don t have GCSE English grade C or above. To enrol onto this course, you should attend our enrolment evening on Tuesday 8th September at 18:00. The enrolment process will take approximately one hour. English Functional Skills This course is for adults who wish to improve their reading and writing and gain confidence in formal speaking situations. Our friendly tutors will help you improve your spelling, grammar and punctuation to improve your letter writing, form filling and more. Presentation and speaking skills are also developed and practiced to build confidence. This course is for people who have English as their first language and leads to a nationally recognised certificate at Entry Level or Level 1 or 2 (your tutor will help you decide on your level). This course is free for UK/EU residents. Classes take place twice a week and is a more supportive, slower paced course than GCSE with re-sit opportunities if needed. 9 TEACHING, ASSESSING and TEACHING ASSISTANTS Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching & Learning in Schools This course is ideal if you want to be a Teaching Assistant or work at a school. It is suitable for people who have some experience of working with children and wish to achieve a Level 2 qualification in this area. You will study one day a week, and will also need to complete a placement in a school. The course covers 11 units which give you important skills and knowledge required for working in schools. Assessment is assignment based with some observations in your placement. Note that all students on this course will need to complete a DBS (formerly known as a Criminal Records Bureau check) through their placement. Thursdays 09:30-14:00 24/09/15 33 weeks 600 Literary Institute Level 3 Award in Education and Training (previously known as PTLLS) The course is suitable for people who are looking to teach in the post-16 sector, or who are already teaching but do not have a teaching qualification. It is also very useful for anyone involved in a training role in business or industry. You do not have to be teaching already to do the course and no teaching hours are required outside of the class. This is an excellent introduction to teaching. Mondays 18:30-21:00 21/09/15 12 weeks 350 Strode s College Level 4 Certificate in Education & Training (previously known as CTLLS) The Certificate follows on from the Award qualification and develops your skills in relation to the role and responsibilities of the teacher or trainer within the Lifelong Learning sector. It is ideal for those in a part time teaching role looking to progress to the Diploma or Certificate in Education/PGCE, or those already working in a training role. You will need to complete 30 hours of teaching / training practice concurrently with the course and dedicate time outside of class to assignments. The teaching hours should be arranged independently. Government loans are available for people who are aged 24 and over and studying an eligible Level 3 or 4 course. These eligible courses are marked The loans are not means tested and don t take into account a person s credit history, which means most people will be eligible. As long as you are an EU resident aged 24 or over and have lived in the UK for three years prior to the course start date, you are likely to qualify for a loan.
