Principal About Williams College Williams College was established as a private college in Over the last 12 years it has grown and developed and since 2005 has been providing ACCA tuition. The College now offers English courses, Higher National Diplomas, university-accredited undergraduate and postgraduate courses and the professional ACCA course. Williams College lecturing staff are fully qualified, experienced and friendly people who are dedicated to helping you achieve your goals. They come from a wide variety of backgrounds and have a wealth of knowledge and experience to share with you. Our lecturers are educated to at least Masters level, while many have or are currently pursuing PhDs. 3 Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) What is ACCA? The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) is the global body for professional accountants. Founded in 1904 it is recognised worldwide as a leading provider of the professional accounting qualification suited to the needs of business in all industries. Computer Based Exams Williams College is a licensed ACCA Computer Based Exam (CBE) centre. CBEs can be sat for as an alternative to Paper Based Exams. CBEs offer students the flexibility of being able to sit exams when they are ready. Who Should Study ACCA? The ACCA will be of interest to you if you have some experience of accounting and finance and want to add a professional qualification to your resume. If you hope to become a fully qualified chartered accountant, the course provides the academic experience and professional qualification you will need. Students should have a good level of English and mathematical skills, please see the Entry Requirements for further details. The ACCA course is not an easy programme and students should be committed to putting in the required effort to pass each paper. How to Register for an Exam To attempt a CBE exam at Williams College you must be registered with ACCA. You will be expected to provide a photo ID clearly mentioning your date of birth. Fill in the CBE Application form and select your date and time for the examination. Pay the exam fee ( 85 per paper) at the time of registration. We will send you a confirmation reminding you of your examination. 4 COURSE STRUCTURE FUNDAMENTALS The Fundamentals level is divided into two modules; Knowledge and Skills. The Knowledge module has three subjects and introduces you to the core areas of financial and management accounting. The Skills module contains six subjects, which comprehensively cover the main technical areas that any accountant is expected to have mastered. International students for whom English is a not a first language are required to have an official English language proficiency certificate at a minimum level of CEFR B2 (eg. IELTS 5.5)

5 PROFESSIONAL The Professional level is divided into two modules; Essentials and Options. Both these modules have been set at an intellectual level equivalent to that expected of a student taking a Masters degree. All students have to complete the three papers in the Essentials module. The Options module contains four papers, but you only need to complete two. Exemptions It is possible to gain exemptions if you have previously studied a relevant qualification. This means you will not have to sit all the exams. 6 ASSOCIATION OF ACCOUNTING TECHNICIANS (AAT) Accounting Certificate - AAT - Level 2 Subject area : Accounting and Finance Mode of delivery : Full time, Part Time & Weekends Qualification : AAT Accounting Qualification Level 2 Duration : 1 year Venue : Duncan House, High Street Stratford E15 2JB, London Course Structure There are five mandatory units: 1. Processing bookkeeping transactions 2. Control Accounts, journals and the banking system 3. Work effectively in accounting and finance 4. Basic costing 5. Computerised accounts Who can join? This course is suitable for those who wish to become members of the association of Accounting Technicians and are seriously considering an accounting career. Students should be 18 years old or over and be working in an accounting environment. Applicants should be educated to at least GCSE level with 5 passes at grades A-C (must include English and Maths), or level 2 in Basic Skills. A good command of written and spoken English and a basic knowledge of Word and Excel are required. Applicants will sit an Interview/Entrance Test which includes Literacy and Numeracy if the previously mentioned GCSE results were not attained. How you will be assessed? Assessment - All learning areas of the AAT Accounting Qualification are assessed using AAT designed computer based assessments (CBAs). Where Next? On successful completion of this course candidates will be able to progress to AAT Level 3 Diploma. Cost/Fee Students have to pay tuition fees on the start date of their studies. In addition, they are expected to pay awarding body registration and examination fees and other third party costs, such as books, equipment and educational trips/visits as well as the College administration fee (currently 50). Some students may be eligible for a fee concession on certain courses, although in most cases some elements of the fees will have to be paid. Fee spreading arrangements are also available allowing you to spread the cost of your course. Please call us at to find out more about concessions and fee spreading. Note: All AAT students have to personally register as student members of the AAT. For all levels and all ages the cost on initial registration is 123. Thereafter the yearly renewal fee is 84. 7 Accounting Diploma - AAT - Level 3 Subject area : Accounting and Finance Mode of delivery : Full time, Part Time & Weekends Qualification : AAT Accounting Qualification Level 3 Duration : 1 year Venue : Duncan House, High Street Stratford E15 2JB, London Course Structure There are six mandatory units: 1. Accounts preparation 2. Final accounts for sole traders and partnerships 3. Costs and revenues 4. Indirect tax 5. Spreadsheets software 6. Professional ethics Who can join? This course is suitable for those who wish to become members of the Association of Accounting Technicians. On successful completion candidates will be able to progress to AAT Level 4. Candidates may be required to attend additional evening and day sessions for a skills test and exams. Candidates must possess good literacy, numeracy and IT skills and have achieved AAT Certificate Level or have exemption from Level 2 for entry to this programme. 10 Application Process Entry Requirements Before you apply to join Williams please check that you meet the academic and English language eligibility criteria for your chosen course. If you are unsure, please contact the College for more information. Stage 1 - Application Complete the online application form: or us on info@williamscollege.co.uk Stage 2 - Consultation You will be contacted by one of our admissions team members who will let you know whether you are eligible to enrol on your chosen course. At this stage you will be asked to provide the following documents: Copy of your passport Copies of all relevant qualifications Stage 3 - Admission Interview International applicants will be scheduled to sit an admissions interview; this will be conducted via Skype or in person(if already in the UK). International Applicants appearing for Skype interviews should ensure they have access to a computer with a working camera and microphone for this interview. You will then be issued a Conditional Offer Letter which outlines the course you have applied for and fees due. Stage 4 - Payment of Fees In order for your admission to be confirmed you must pay the relevant course and registration fees. Stage 5 Confirmation of Acceptance of Studies (CAS) (For Non-EU Students) You will be asked to provide the following documents so that a CAS can be issued: Applicant Declaration Form Up-to-date contact details Copy of bank statement Once all paperwork is verified and your eligibility is confirmed, you will be sent the CAS / Unconditional Offer Letter and Receipt for Fees Paid. The CAS will be required for your visa application. It is your responsibility to meet UK Border Agency requirements.
