22 Apprenticeships at Level 2 (Intermediate) What is an apprenticeship? In recent years increasing numbers of students have chosen to move on to an Apprenticeship after school or college. Apprentices do real jobs for real employers. So you re paid while you learn, from day one of your Apprenticeship. As an Apprentice you will usually be employed for a minimum of 30 hours a week and earn while you work towards a nationally recognised qualification. The National Minimum Wage for apprentices is 2.68 per hour although many can earn much more. You will spend much of your time learning on the job but there is also a classroom/theory element to all apprenticeships, based in college. The key website for more information on apprenticeships in general is: Portsmouth College Apprenticeship Scheme: earn while you learn The College offers its own range of apprenticeships at Intermediate, Advanced and Higher level. Listed below are the apprenticeships we offer at intermediate level (level 2). In each case you would work for most of the week with an employer and spend on average one day per week in the classroom. Full details of all of our apprenticeship pathways can be found on the College's apprenticeship website:
