1 FOR YOUTH DEVELOPMENT FOR HEALTHY LIVING FOR SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY Summer Series 2016 Aquatics & Sports for Adult & Youth SUMMER SERIES 2016 MACCOLL YMCA SUMMER 1 ~ June 26 th to July 16th Registration Begins June 12 th SUMMER 2 ~ July 17 th to August 6th Registration Begins June 12 th SUMMER 3 ~ August 7 th to August 27 th Registration Begins June 12 th The 2016 Summer Series are each 3 weeks in length and priced accordingly. All Summer Series are eligible for registration starting on June 12 th. No Classes on Monday July 4 th and Monday August 8 th, Victory Day.

2 SWIMMING LESSONS : The summer swim program will have three separate locations for lessons, the Indoor Lap Pool (ILP), Family Outdoor Pool (FOP) and the Community Pool (CP). Each location will have their own lesson times and days. CANCELLATION POLICY: Cancellation of any class after the start date will result in a forfeiture of the class fee. Cancellations before the start date will be eligible for a refund. MAKE UP POLICY: The YMCA will only allow make ups for YMCA cancellations or an absence accompanied by a doctor s note. Make ups will be scheduled based on availability. PRESCHOOL SWIM LESSONS Members $12 Non-members $24 WATERBABIES - Ages 6 36 months Parent participates in water with child. This is an introduction to basic water skills. Swimmers will have fun with toys and songs while interacting with other children in a low pressure setting. with Parent - Ages 1 2 years old Parents are required to accompany their child in the water. Instructor will guide parents through the skills to work one on one with your child. Skills include blowing bubbles, back float, front and back flutter kick, jumping in the water and water games. PIKE -Ages 2 5 years old Good for children who are new to swimming lessons, or are still working on basic skills. Swimmers will focus on water confidence and accepting instruction. The child works at their own rate, blowing bubbles, floating, reaching and alternating arms and legs. EEL - Ages 3 6 years old EEL s are working on swimming independently at least five feet on their front or back in a horizontal position. Emphasis will be on putting their face in the water and submerging underwater. RAY/STARFISH - Ages 3 6 years old For students who are able to put their faces in the water or dunk their heads below the surface. Child can swim 15 feet with face in the water and is able to begin freestyle swimming; front crawl and back float independently. Children will develop higher overall skill.

3 SCHOOL AGE SWIM LESSONS Members $15 Non-members $30 POLLIWOG - Ages 6 12 years old The swimmer will work on floating, diving, flutter kick, crawl stroke and rhythmic breathing. Class is also for older children with some previous experience. Swimmers will work with flotation equipment. POLLIWOG PLUS + - Ages 6 12 years old Children who are adjusted to the water and are ready for more independence. Basic swimming skills but need to work on crawl stroke, sit dives and greater endurance. The primary skills in this level are Rotary Breathing, freestyle and backstroke refinement. GUPPY / MINNOW - Ages 6 16 years old Swimmers should possess a quality crawl stroke, rotary breathing skills, back crawl and diving. Flotation equipment such as kickboards and noodles may still be used but not dependent upon. Concentration is on front crawl and back crawl with coordinated freestyle and rotary breathing along with speed improvement. Swimmers must be able to swim 25 yards continuously. FISH, FLYING FISH, SHARK -Ages 6 16 years old In this level, there is continued stroke development of free style, back crawl and breaststroke. Children begin to learn the butterfly and flip turns. All four strokes will be worked on and drilled for strength building. This class is for experienced swimmers who are able to swim yards with rotary breathing continuously. PRIVATE SWIMMING LESSONS Ages 4 17 years / Adult Lessons The Y s private swim lessons are designed to help a child or adult swimmer, one- on- one, with an instructor. Private lessons are designed for a single swimmer only. All private lessons are a half an hour each regardless of level. Lessons may be scheduled through the swim lesson coordinator who will determine the instructor, level of swim and the overall goal during a consultation. A request form for private swim lessons may be found at the information desk. Member/Non-Member: $75/$150 (3) 30 minute classes

5 OUTDOOR FAMILY POOL LESSONS Family Pool lessons are limited and available to participants of the Outdoor FP program ONLY. Lesson Series are 4 weeks long. 6 INDOOR Water Exercise Classes Monday, Wednesday & Friday AM WATER AEROBICS A great workout that is easy on the body. Use the natural resistance of the water to get your heart healthy and your body toned. Aerobic capability, strength, flexibility, balance and reaction time will improve. Water exercise classes are designed for those who would like to participate in a lower impact water exercise class. Monday, Wednesday & Friday: 9:30 a.m. - 10:15 a.m. All participants should be capable swimmers in shallow and deep water. Monday & Wednesday PM WATER AEROBICS This group exercise class will be for the participant who is looking for an aerobic workout in water. This class will help increase strength and overall range of motion. This is a medium impact workout class with a concentration on cardiovascular conditioning. Monday & Wednesday: 6:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. All participants should be capable swimmers in shallow and deep water. Tuesday & Thursday PM WATER AEROBICS This group exercise class will be for the participant who is looking for an aerobic workout in water. This class will help increase strength and overall range of motion. This is a medium impact workout class with a concentration on cardiovascular conditioning. Tuesday & Thursday: 6:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. All participants should be capable swimmers in shallow and deep water H2O WORKOUTS / WATER WALKING This is a self-led program. The Activity Pool is available for basic, low-impact, light-intensity aquatic workouts using the natural resistance of the water to help strengthen core muscles and to increase personal flexibility. Appropriate for those just starting an exercise program or for those who are considering water exercise. Monday through Friday: 5:30 a.m. 9:30 a.m. Saturday & Sunday: 7:00 a.m. 8:00 a.m.

7 SENIOR FRIENDLY / AQUATIC CLASSES SENIOR AQUA-FIT This group exercise class emphasizes strengthening and shaping while providing a light cardiovascular workout. Swimmers will make aerobic movements as well as small intervals of body sculpting. Monday, Wednesday & Friday: 10:30 a.m. - 11:15 a.m. All participants should be capable swimmers in shallow and deep water. STRENGTH & STRETCHING - SENIOR FRIENDLY This is a great aquatic class for the beginner. This low impact water class is designed for those who want to strengthen and stretch their bodies while relieving stress on their joints and bones. Tuesday: 10:45 a.m. - 11:15 a.m. All participants should be capable swimmers in shallow and deep water. REST & REJUVENATION - SENIOR FRIENDLY This is a low impact water class with focus on relaxation and rejuvenation. The goal is to use the water to relieve pressure on muscles and joints, allowing the body to move with greater ease. Thursday: 10:45 a.m. - 11:15 a.m. All participants should be capable swimmers in shallow and deep water. WATER WORKS- SENIOR FRIENDLY This fast-paced, fun-filled low impact water fitness class promotes cardiovascular health, flexibility, strength and range of motion. A variety of aerobic movements are performed in the activity pool to provide both a cardiovascular and strength training workout. Tuesdays & Thursdays: 10:00 a.m. - 10:45 a.m. Wednesdays: 10:30 a.m. 11:15 a.m. All participants should be capable swimmers in shallow and deep water.

8 PRESCHOOL & YOUTH CLASSES PEEWEE P.E. Ages 2-5 Come and help them get their jiggles out. Organized game and recreational group play that promotes exercise and relationship building. Parents may be asked to participate in class. Monday: 10:45 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. TINY TUMBLERS Ages 18 months - 3 years This fun class offers tumbling and stretching drills designed to help improve agility, dexterity, flexibility and balance. Focus is on exercise, physical fitness and group play. Thursday: 10:30 a.m. - 11:15 a.m. MARTIAL ARTS Ages 6 and Up Martial Arts will be offered to children and adults for 6 classes. A great method of training your mind, body and spirit while focusing on pride, concentration, repetition and self-control. Tuesday & Thursday: Beginner 6:30 p.m. - 7:15 p.m. Tuesday & Thursday: Advanced 7:15 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Member/Non-Member: $14/$27 LITTLE DRAGONS Ages 2-5 Beginner Martial Arts class that provides your child with attention grabbing exercises. Class stresses the value of respect, selfimportance and self-discipline while maintaining a fun atmosphere. Saturday: 9:15 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. Saturday: 10:15 a.m. 11:00 a.m. Wednesday: 6:30 p.m. 7:15 p.m. (Parent & Me)

9 Art & Illustration Ages 8 10 / Participants are taught basic art. Drawing, illustration, crafts and 3D creations. Basic drawing and painting supplies will be provided to students. Students are encouraged to bring a large pad to develop creative ideas and the development of a portfolio. Monday: Age :30-7:30 p.m. Age :30-8:30 p.m. Y FIT KIDS Ages 8-12 A fun way for your child to get their workout. Focus on upper body strength, cardio allowance and their overall speed. Weekly challenges will help improve their overall fitness. Thursday: 6:30 p.m.- 7:30 p.m. Member/Non-Member: $17/$34 PARENT & ME BASKETBALL Ages 4-5 This class will introduce the basics of passing, shooting and dribbling with the help of the parent. Skill drills and mini games will provide a solid basketball foundation. The Y encourages healthy habits and a positive attitude toward exercise and physical fitness through fun and physical sports play. Wednesday: 6:30 p.m. - 7:15 p.m. BEGINNER BASKETBALL Ages 5 8 Basketball skills will focus on passing, shooting and dribbling. Drills, team play and mini games will look to keep players alert and interested as they learn to practice and play the right way. Wednesday: 6:30 p.m. - 7:15 p.m. INTERMEDIATE/ADVANCED BBALL SKILLS Ages 8-12 Intermediate Basketball skills gets them ready for game play with faster moving drills to develop a larger foundation for the game. Dribbling, passing, shooting and mini games will improve the players overall game skill with intermediate practice sessions. Wednesday: 7:15 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.

10 CO-ED Youth, Teen & Adult Sports Leagues Futsal League Ages 18+ The origins of Futsal (Five-a-Side Soccer) can be traced back to 1930 in Uruguay, when a five-a-side version of soccer was designed for youth competition in YMCAs. Our game will be played outdoors on a smaller sized soccer field. All levels of players are welcome. Players sign up individually and we assign teams that can be competitive with one another. Games are self-refereed, Y staff are on hand to track scores, standings and player stats. Each game is 30 minutes long of running time with subs on the fly. Wednesday: Games at 6:30 p.m., 7:15 p.m., 8 p.m., 8:45 p.m. MAX 8 teams / Weekly play / T-Shirt Provided Starts June 29 th Member/Non-Member: $30/$60 Teen Basketball League TEENS TODAY, CHAMPIONS TOMORROW Ages & Hit the hardwood with the Y! The YMCA Teen Basketball program is open to teens JR. High through High School. Y staff will take care of the clock, referee and stats. All skill levels are welcome. MANDATORY EVALUATION ON Saturday June 25th Ages: 6-7 8:30am, 8-9 9:30am, :30am Saturday: Ages :30 a.m. Ages :30 p.m. MAX 4 teams per age group / T-Shirt Provided League play will begin on July 2nd, This league is open to Teens from any YMCA. Member: $40 Youth Basketball League Ages: 6 & 7, 8 & 9, Whether you are a rookie or an all-star, this is a great opportunity for young players to compete in a fun environment. Youth division 6-7 will play on 8ft hoops. Youth Division 8-9 will play on 9ft hoops. Youth division will play on 10ft hoops. MANDATORY EVALUATION ON Saturday June 25th Ages: 6-7 8:30 a.m, 8-9 9:30 a.m, :30 a.m Game time will be consistent and on Saturdays Ages: 6-7 8:30 a.m, Ages: 8-9 9:30 a.m, Ages: :30 a.m. League play will begin on July 2nd, Member/Non-Member $40/$80

11 SUMMER SPEPCIALS FULLER STINGRAYS 2016 MacColl YMCA Stingray Swim Team The Stingrays are part of the Narragansett Swim League. All swimmers 16 years and younger are eligible for the team and no competitive swim experience is necessary. Come be part of the fast summer season and swim with the MacColl YMCA Fuller Stingrays. Contact head Coach Allie McCormick for additional information about this fun summer squad. Practice begins in June and season ends in August. Current Member: $75.00 Summer Only: $ Swimmers may register starting May 29 th to July 3rd, Community Pool Pass The MacColl YMCA Community Pool Pass for the 2016 season is available to MacColl, Pawtucket & Woonsocket Passport members only and will reflect your current membership. The pass allows you access to the Community Pool during hours of operation at no additional fee. Pass must be presented with Y membership card. The Community Pool Pass is non-transferable and cannot be refunded or exchanged. *Family / Couples Pass 2016 $ *ADULT Singles Pass $ Monday Friday 4 p.m.-730 p.m./sat & Sun 12 p.m.-730 p.m. Children under 13 must be accompanied by an adult. OPEN June 11th through September 5 th, 2016 OUTDOOR RENTALS The MacColl YMCA offers outdoor rental space with access to our Community Pool, Spray Park and Water Slides. Available June 11 th through Labor Day, renters will also be provided with a large tent and can choose between use of the soccer field or outdoor basketball courts.
