2 Overview... 2 What is the solution?... 2 How does WIFi TV work?... 3 User experience... 3 Overview WiFi TV is a hyper localized video-on-demand solution enabled for unlimited access to users of the Free WiFi service. There is currently no means of watching TV online that enables relevant hyper-local information and news to be distributed to specific residents in any area. WiFi TV is an IP-TV network that helps Governments communicate and entertain citizens in low-income communities via the Free WiFi network and is also available to any resident via an Internet connection. What is the solution? By enabling zero-rated WiFi TV over the Free WiFi network, Government can provide a means for residents to affordably watch relevant local video content online, whilst also providing the ability for any connected citizen to view the content over the Internet. Furthermore, the Government can develop its own TV content and promote this material via the WiFi TV network. The WiFi TV service enables delivery of local content via a Channel dedicated to each District or even Municipality allowing for a platform to promote Government, business and events relevant for that community. Within each Channel, a menu of categories is available for users to find content most relevant to them. The categories include but are not limited to: My Gov relevant news and information from Government to the community Inside reviews of local news and business What s On information on upcoming events and community programs Sports highlights and clips of local sporting events 2

3 Faith local religious programming relevant to that community Channels and menus can be customized to suit Government needs for information distribution and communication. How does WIFi TV work? Each channel has a dedicated team of 2 local citizen journalists, recruited through an intensive process and equipped with necessary tools to get the content required for the service. These resources travel their defined area to identify content relevant to each category and upload these to the editing team. The content is then curated, edited and made available over the WiFi TV service to be enjoyed, ondemand, by all users. User experience A user simply connects to the WiFi TV service via a dedicated landing page. A simple click provides access to the on-demand content. As Project Isizwe looks to harness the power of the Internet for learning, economic development and social inclusion, it is important that people are not only educated and empowered, but entertained. We want to provide access to some of the best local content available which is relevant to the respective communities lives, and create a platform for young people to make their mark in the entertainment space. WiFi TV is a bouquet of content produced by young people within the local communities, about and for the people. The channels will produce content curated around themes relevant to the communities including but not limited to: Talent: A showcase of talent within the Province including musicians, poets, performers, artists of all kinds. What s On: Reviews of restaurants, venues, events and all local business, and a look at landmarks and ways of getting around Sport Coverage: Local sports, profiles of clubs, venues and players and show the latest results. 3

4 News and Current affairs: What s on the minds of the people, what issues do they want to discuss? Faith: Faith and religion, sermons and gospel choirs and the resources and facilities the places of worship offered within the communities. Education: Informative and educational content for learners, as well as entrepreneurs. 4
