1 NACE Denver LEGEND Awards Legacy of Excellence NACE Denver What are the Awards (LEGEND)? The LEGEND awards are designed to acknowledge the extraordinary efforts, performance and outstanding contributions of NACE members in the special events industry. Who can enter the awards? NACE member in good standing on or before June 1, of the entry year is eligible to enter. Why should I enter? By entering the LEGEND competition, you showcase the caliber of work that you or your company is capable of. Entries are judged by industry peers from NACE chapters around the country, and the awards reflect your talent and help your company stand apart from the competition. Receiving an award demonstrates to your clients the exceptional quality that you and your company have achieved. Judging In order to maintain fairness in the judging, all submissions are reviewed and judged by members from another NACE Chapter. How do I enter? The next several pages outline the application process for a LEGEND Award. Be sure to follow all of the rules and submit your entry by the noted deadline. All entries must be for events that occurred between August 15, of the year prior and August 15, of the entry year. Disqualification? Failure to comply with rules will lead to disqualification. We are unable to notify entrants if their entries are disqualified for any reason. Fees for disqualified entries are nonrefundable. Where and when are the LEGEND awards presented? NACE Denver will recognize the outstanding accomplishments of NACE event professionals at the Annual Dinner and Awards Gala in November. Questions? 2 Submission Requirements Eligibility Entrant must be a NACE Denver member in good standing as of June 1, of entry year. Event Date Event must have occurred between August 15, of the year prior and August 15, of the entry year. Entry Deadline: Midnight September 1, of entry year Entry Fee There is a charge of $75 per entry. Must be paid at time of submission. Submission Guidelines Entry Guidelines Each entry must include the following: Entry Fee Title (make sure the title does not identify you or your company in any way) Completed entry form Collateral (must not contain any logos or references to you or your company) o Multiple photographs may appear on a single page as long as the page meets these requirements. Photos must have a resolution of at least 300 dpi. Each page counts as one piece of collateral. o Maximum of 10 pieces of collateral; collateral may include but is not limited to: diagrams, menu, place cards, invitations, DVD video (where required), photographs and marketing materials. Description of the overall event and the services you provided Was the food presentation multifaceted? Did the event demonstrate exemplary culinary skills and presentation? Did the presentation enhance and complement the theme of the event? WOW Factor

4 BEST CATERED EVENT Caterers, either off-premise or in-house, including restaurants, facility operators, hotels, clubs, and any other entities that provide food to the special events industry. Description of the overall event and the services you provided Was the food presentation multifaceted? Did the event demonstrate exemplary culinary skills and presentation? Did the presentation enhance and complement the theme of the event? WOW Factor

5 BEST EVENT DESIGN/DECOR The entity responsible for creating and producing the design, including but not limited to: event designers; floral designers, prop, scenery and display designers; balloon artists, artists in other media; linen companies; caterers and bakeries. Description of the overall event and the design services you provided Design: Was the design consistent with the event theme? Did it support the purpose? Rate the degree of difficulty of creating and executing the design. Collateral: What was the level of quality in the finished product? WOW Factor: Was the design visually exciting or dynamic?

6 Entrant Information LEGEND Awards BEST ENTERTAINMENT Producers, choreographers, designers of entertainment, entertainers, disc jockey services, and other related fields. Description of the overall event and the design services you provided Production: Was the entertainment production multifaceted? Was the production consistent with the event theme? Rate the level of logistical difficulty Collateral: Did the collateral provided give a good visual (and/or Audio-Visual) representation of the entertainment production? WOW Factor NOTE: For entertainment category, a video up to three minutes in length is acceptable, and counts as one piece of collateral.

7 BEST EVENT PHOTOGRAPHY Photographers/Videographers Description of the overall event and the services you provided Creative Perspective: Do the images reveal the important event elements, including design, production, catering, entertainment, activities, and audiovisuals? Technical skill: Rate the images on composition, exposure and focus. Enhancements: If any images are digitally altered, do the changes fit the theme or enhance the presentation? WOW Factor: Are the images visually appealing?

8 EVENT PLANNING CATAGORIES BEST WEDDING BEST SOCIAL EVENT (Non-Wedding) BEST NON-PROFIT EVENT BEST CORPORATE EVENT Event planners, producers and coordinators; meeting planners; wedding consultants and party planners; facility and venue managers; institutions (educational, cultural and non-profit), and any other entities that provide these types of services for the special events industry. Description of the overall event and the design services you provided Event Management: What was the degree of difficulty and how were any challenges or Describe your production management process. Describe each phase of the process including development, preproduction, production and post-production phases of event management. Design: Did the event demonstrate creative dynamics with the theme décor and with the rental related items such as tables, chairs, linens, etc? Rate the degree of difficulty of the creating and executing the event. Collateral: Did the entry include event support marketing collateral, i.e. invitations, announcements, etc? : Did the entry include management collateral, i.e. floor plans, timelines, production schedules, renderings, BEOs, etc? What was the creative value and quality? WOW Factor: Was the design visually exciting or dynamic?

9 BEST EVENT SUPPORT SERVICES Event support service professionals including, rental equipment, tenting, lasers, lighting, special effects, audio-visual, transportation, valet services, graphic designers, producers and designers of event collateral including advertising, and promotional pieces, invitations, announcements, signage and novelties, and any others providing technical, logistical, or design services for the special events industry. Description of the overall event and the design services you provided Event Management: What was the degree of difficulty and how were any challenges or Describe your production management process for the event as it pertains to event support services. Describe each phase of the process including development, pre-production, production and post-production phases of event management. Address the steps taken to ensure risk management control. Design: Did the event demonstrate creative dynamics with the theme décor and with the rental related items such as tables, chairs, linens, etc? Rate the degree of difficulty of creating and executing the event. Collateral: Did the entry include management collateral, i.e. floor plans, timelines, production schedules, renderings, BEOs, etc. and event collateral i.e. signage, photographs, invitations, menu cards, nametags or any other visual elements? Please note that the collateral items submitted will be different for different types of service providers and will be judged on how well the collateral items support the service rendered. WOW Factor: Did the support services add to making the event exciting or dynamic?

10 BEST EVENT VIDEOGRAPHY Videographers/Photographers Description of the overall event and the services you provided Creative Perspective: Does the video reveal the important event elements, including design, production, catering, entertainment, activities, and audiovisuals?
