Laptop, DVD or video players can be connected. This is fully integrated to the theatre PA system. Flying The theatre has no fixed flying points Dressing Rooms There are no designated dressing rooms available at the school. We have a kitchen area behind the theatre with a lockable door, sinks and make up facilities. Other areas are available outside of school time. Colour Scheme The auditorium and stage area are painted matt black. The walls have a dado rail and a picture rail stained dark green. The ceiling is white tiled within the octagonal lighting rig there is an octagonal void with the gallery above.

8 Page 8 of 22 Floor The theatre floor is fully sprung with an average weight tolerance of 5KN/MZ We must be informed in advance: - If any liquid may be thrown or spilt on the floor - If any set will be used that could potentially damage the floor as provision can be arranged to protect it Tiered Seating (112 seats) We have a retractable tiered seating system installed. This is located at the back of the auditorium and is less than a metre wide when retracted and approx 6 metres when extended. For most performances we will have the seating extended out unless otherwise requested. Alternative seating is available for additional seats or for performances in the round Capacity Maximum capacity fixed tiered seating 38 additional standing or seated Seating plan

9 Page 9 of 22 Sliding Doors The main theatre space can be divided by a sliding door, when shut it fills the false proscenium arch. This is suitable for smaller scale events; musical, dance or theatre productions creating an intimate environment. Please let us know in advance of your needs (space and acoustics) that may affect your decision to keep them closed. Curtain Rails There are black out curtains in both the auditorium and the stage area. These are used behind the stage and can be adjusted for your own requirements. See Theatre dimensions plan.

12 Page 12 of 22 MAIN HALL The school hall is a large rectangular room with high acoustic ceiling panels. Stage height is 1m 8cm from floor level. The hall is fully equipped with blackout curtains. There are no moving lights in the hall. Spotlights, par cans and floods can be adjusted well in advance of performances. This requires scheduled use of a scaffolding tower due to ceiling height. There is a fully integrated PA system available for use on request. See Main Hall Sound specifications. 16 RECORDING FACILITIES Page 16 of 22 Gillingham School has a recording studio within the Creative Arts block which is primarily used by students studying music, but can also be hired for Music Technology courses. There is also a link from the Creative Arts Theatre PA system to enable recording of live performances. Please let us know in advance if you wish to have your performance recorded. Video Recording or Photography We have the facilities to occasionally film performances on request; sometimes we will request to film performances. This is up to you as the artists. Please let us know in advance if you wish to have your performance filmed. We may also take still photography if requested or preferred.

17 Page 17 of 22 GENERAL REGULATION & INFORMATION Licensing The venue has a Community Premises Licence and is also covered for the use of radio microphones. You must let us know 28 days in advance if you intend to work with naked flames or pyrotechnics. Catering Local supermarkets: Waitrose, ASDA, Cooperative, Lidl which are all within walking or driving distance. The school has a sixth form canteen facility that is open at lunchtime from 1pm. If you have a contract rider that request food and drink please contact the Creative Arts Technicians no less than 48 hours before you arrive at the venue. Smoking Policy We operate a Smoke Free Policy Smoking won't be allowed in or around any part of our premises, or any part of county council property including entrance ways, whether managed, leased or owned by the county council at any time. It will be an offence to smoke in any of our buildings. Disabled Access The Creative Arts Theatre and Main Hall both have disabled access. Creative Arts Theatre: There is a sloped path leading down to the Creative Arts Centre and no steps leading into the theatre itself. Wheelchair users can sit in the front of the tiered seating there is no need to let us know in advance if a wheelchair user will be attending an event. Disabled toilets are located via the double doors on the right hand side of the theatre when facing the stage. These have an automatic light system and an emergency cord if needed. We also have a hearing loop system for those with hearing aids. Advance warning is required. PAT Compliance All portable electrical appliances must be PAT tested before use in the theatre. If you will be touring any electrical appliances which have not been tested within the last 12 months, please let us know in advance so we can arrange testing on site. Risk Assessments All performances and use of spaces by law should have a risk assessment completed by a competent person. The Creative Arts Technician has completed general risk assessments for the theatre and the main hall as spaces and for general performance use, each performance needs a completed risk assessment. Most touring companies have risk assessments for their performances, and we ask that you forward us a copy in advance of your visit. Please could you let us know if you have not got a risk assessment so the Creative Arts Technician can assist you with your assessment, or to find out if you are covered by our general risk assessment
