6 1. Corporate identity The Brand Business Lease is a brand - a very valuable brand. It tells the world who we are and what we do. There are many things that make up a brand. One of the most visible assets of a brand is the logo. But there are many more. Your business card and stationery, the main entrance to your business premises, the way you communicate and present yourself in (online) advertising, in the press and on the phone are all examples. And since our payoff line promises same cars, better care we have to define everything about our brand in terms of better care. In other words, we have to make it clear that we do more than anyone else, that we provide a better service than anyone else, that we are in fact better than anyone else in our business. So start by reading the following instructions with better care and treat our brand with the best possible care. It will help you get better results. The positionering of our brand. With our positionering statement we want to catch in word how we want to be seen (perceived) by customers, employees, stakeholders and competitors. We want our positioning to be differentiating, reliable, transparent and consistent. Our positioning statement is For car drivers, Business Lease is the leasing company that thinks and acts like a true partner, where the employees are real experts. We differentiate ourselves by providing real care and attention rather than by our car offers. In other words: we are: The Care Company So please be CAREful in everything we communicate. Put care in every image, every word you use. Not literally, but in the spirit, Pay-off Same cars, better care 6

7 Communication Promise What is our promise to customers? We are a company that thinks and acts as an involved partner. We are interested in the real needs of our customers. We know that, we need to be involved and helpful. This is about doing your job the right way and with quality. Some core values to help you: We are trustworthy, personal and ambitious. We keep our promises, have an eye for quality and are proactive. We offer expertise and service with a smile. We are results-driven. Why Because it is not possible to provide you with recipes for all of the corporate identity elements created by Business Lease, where possible we give several definitions in this corporate identity manual together with concrete examples. Straightforward rules are provided for other cases. 2. General Corporate Identity information General language use Use in local correspondence your official language with and make use of spelling checkers in order to avoid mistakes as much as possible. For international correspondence English (V.S.) is used as default. In communications and correspondence we always use polite forms. Always refer to Business Lease as it. 7

8 2.1 Specific use Business Lease The initial letters of the name Business Lease are written in capitals. Letters of the legal entity (s.r.o) are written according to the official company name as shown in the commercial register. Abbreviations The use of abbreviations must be avoided as much as possible. Exceptions are made in the case of higher education degrees and in the case of abbreviations originating from Latin such as c.q. and c.s. Usage can be preferred in case of the extreme shortage of space, e.g.: in overfull business cards. Salutation It is always referred to the addressee in case of the external correspondence. Company Example Mr. Smith and/or Mrs. Smith Street Example City Country The salutation will be as follows: Dear Mr. Smith, and/or Dear Mrs. Smith, Addressing forms In International (EN) business correspondence, first names are normally used in full. This does not apply to local language where first names are normally used in full only if a reason for such use exists. The use of I -form is preferred to the use of We -form. It gives a much more personal approach as it is intended by Business Lease as per customer-intimacy communication. Spaces Spaces are used in the case of the succession of more titles and between higher education degrees and initials. If more than one initial is mentioned, no spaces are used. Example: Prof. Dr. John Smith. 8

9 2.2 Numbers Figures and numbers Figures under ten are written in full in words, the rest is written in numerals. Sums of money If the local language is used, we use the local money notation. If we communicate in English, we use the international money notation: 27, and/or in full Euro 27, Telephone numbers Put a space between the area code and the personal telephone number. When writing personal telephone numbers, group figures into threes, starting at the end. In order to clarify the international character of Business Lease, the whole number is prefixed by the country code. Example: Bank numbers The bank account numbers must be displayed as officially stated by the banks. Licence plates No spaces, dashes and/or full stops are placed between the numbers and letters. Dates When putting dates in business correspondence, first write the day in figures, then the month in full, then the year in figures. For example: 7 December 2012 When corresponding in the local language, please use the local date notation. addresses When mentioning addresses in business correspondence, the addresses are written in the same way as they were taken or mentioned. In MS Word, the address is automatically underlined and linked to MS Outlook. The address is not underlined when written on business cards. Correspondence example: j.smith@businesslease.com Business card example: j.smith@businesslease.com 9

10 2.3 Logo One of the most valuable assets of a brand is the logo. It represents our business. Proper usage is necessary to make the logo stronger. It is also important to ensure that it represents Business Lease in the right way. Like everything else in this manual, the following instructions are obligatory. Please be meticulous in observing these instructions. Remember you are representing our company! Logo colour: black/white 2 PMS-colours: PMS 2718 and PMS Cool Gray 10 Use of the Business Lease logo: The Business Lease logo without slogan can only be used in correspondence (letters, s, faxes, etc.) In all other situations the Business Lease logo should be used with the slogan. An exception can only be possible because of space issues. The Blue Care logo should always be used in connection with the Business Lease logo with slogan. Due to space it is possible to use the horizontal or vertical version. you can use the logo negative only if the background is Business Lease grey, blue or black (otherwise parts of the logo would disappear). 11 Logo in combination with another (product) logo: Use a small vertical line the same height as the Business Lease logo and place the (product) logo on the right. The Blue Care logo should always be used in connection with the Business Lease logo with slogan. Due to space it is possible to use the horizontal or vertical version. The Blue Care Logo Less is more. Therefore we changed the light color blue in the Blue Care logo to the blue color of the Business Lease logo. In this way we have a more cost-efficient way of printing and handling the Blue Care logo on marketing materials. by The word blue : Cyan 80%, Magenta 60% The word Care : Cyan 65%, Magenta 40% (the same as the color blue of the Business Lease logo) 11

12 2.4 Typography Three font families are used in the local and international (English) language in the Business Lease corporate identity. If that a font is not available in the local language, you should investigate if there is a possibility of purchasing the font or otherwise select the closest font family. The font purchased or the alternative selected font must be sent to Business Development for approval. Akzidenz Grotesk BE Light Extended The headlines for all external communication such as brochures, Cars and Care magazine, driver set, headline covers, calculation book, etc. Avenir light For all the text in external communication (incl. ppt). Avenir Heavy Calculation book. Arial For all correspondence, outlook, reports, etc (excl. ppt). Usually used for everything else when the Avenir font is not available, in Office programs like Word and Outlook. 13 2.5 Color set For all communication our corporate colors are the basic colors we use in all communication materials. They are the backbone of our Corporate Identity. The secondary corporate colors can be used for details in communication materials. 14 2.6 Visuals In addition to our communication principals we have updated our corporate identity for product and business communication and corporate (brand) communication. By adding a slight difference it is noticeable to see what kind of communication we use. Next to making a difference in visibility, we also added two new graphic visuals to our assortment. Our style is build up from 3 layers: - Wave - Graphical element - Photography For corporate/brand communication we combine: - A graphical element - Photography with car element - Wave in corporate or secondary color set For business/product communication we combine: - A graphical element - Photography with an element of the subject - Wave in corporate or secondary color set with blue above and also possibility for photo in wave Here we have can also have a photo in the wave. 18 Photography We can now use subject related photography in business communication. In this perspective we can tell a story with visuals in a Business Lease way. However in corporate communications a (part of) car should always be featured in photography. NOTE. All car photography should reflect the latest car models 18

22 3.2 Envelopes There are two standard formats: EA5/6 envelope: Use this for less detailed correspondence. An A-4 page is folded once. C4 envelope: A-4 mail and folders can be sent unfolded in this type of envelope. The logo on the envelopes is aligned left and in the default colors. Prefer window envelopes because they save time and reduce the margin of error. The return address is placed under the logo using the font-family Akzidenz Grotesk BE light Extended. In order to show our CSR involvement we should print the international FSC label on our envelopes with the statement that we are a 100% CO 2 neutral company. 24 3.3 Business Cards Format: 90 x 55 mm (wxh), duplex full color Type of paper: 300 grams Oxford white The logo is 49 mm wide and is situated in the left corner of the business card. The logo begins 4 mm from the left and is situated from top to bottom of the business card x (the logo on the 14.5 mm). 31 4. Below the line 4.1 Brochures In brochures we make a distinction between strategic (corporate) material and marketing/ product material. An example of a strategic brochure is the company brochure. For the marketing/product brochures, the guidelines offer more flexibility. Brochures have always a minimum of 8 pages. 36 4.4 Magazines If in any Business Lease country we publish a magazine, the title should be Cars&Care. The layout of the cover consists of different elements.
