2 Zoom Scale Slider zoom, pan, pan left, pan right, previous extent, full extent Pan left, right, up, and down: one clicking is one scale move Previous extent, Next extent: it will take your map back to previous extent that you were zoomed into if you have re-centred, zoomed in or zoomed out. Zoom scale bar and slider: shows the zoom scale when clicking and holding the slider dot. Click and hold the slider dot and move up or down will zoom in or out of the current extent. The basemaps are cached so the slider has set scales for fast display. Pan: by clicking and holding the left mouse button on the map, and then dragging the map. Zoom in: you draw a rectangle that defines the new extent, the map will zoom in to it once you release the left mouse button. Scrolling the mouse wheel will also zoom in and out. Zoom out: you draw a rectangle that is subtracted from the current map extent and the difference is what the map will zoom out to once you release the left mouse button. NZTM Easting and Northing: shows the Easting and Northing of mouse position 2

3 Legend and base maps Change basemaps by hovering over the Basemap button on the bottom right of the screen. Select the basemap desired from the options given. NB: Basemaps are cached to 1: scale. Open new map layers by clicking on the title and ticking the box by the title. Group layers need to have a layer active inside them to activate. 3

4 Tools/Widgets Overview Bookmarks this widget displays a list of saved spatial bookmarks. You can add and delete a bookmark that is stored on your computer. Identify enables you to identify the selected features on any visible layers, for example streets, land parcels, resources consents, wells etc. Search enables searching for features in a selected layer. Draw and Measure enables you to draw a shape and shows the measurement of the drawing. Print enables you to print the current extent and visible layers. You can change the print title and subtitle. Find NZTM point enables you to locate a NZTM point by entering the easting and northing. / Select,Buffer,Find enables you to select a feature, like a parcel or a point or an area, build buffered search options and find information relating to the original feature. Add Shapefile/Excel spreadsheet enables you to display shapefile data or excel spreadsheets with X;Y coordinate data on the map. Edit enables you to add, move, delete a point or a polygon Clicking on the widget in the map can activate the tool. 4

7 When you hover over your mouse here, the map will highlight the feature. Tips: Consents, Wells, SLUR and Environmental monitoring sites have live data from their respective databases. 7

12 Select, Buffer, Find tool steps Selecting the feature to be used in the buffer is able to be done manually or using the search functions. Text search Graphical search Result grid Results Spatial Search (buffer) Select the layer as a searching starting shape. Activate the Buffer Graphic option and set the distance to buffer. N.B. while it says both Metres and Kilometres, only Metres works. Draw a shape as a searching criterion. 12

13 Click to select a layer to search. Enter the text search following the given example. Click the Search button. 13

14 Click to draw a buffer around a selected feature Select the layer feature to search. Select the search type that is needed. The options are: Contained in, Intersects and Intersects boundary Click the selection that is desired to perform the search. This will usually be using the Buffer Graphics option. 14

15 Select, Buffer, Find search result Click to export table to csv or text file. 15

16 Add Shapefiles to Map Change the widget pane to the settings. Once a shapefile has been loaded, it retains the same symbology. Click the check box if labels are desired. Select placement. Alter the settings for point features as needed. Change the Alpha value to adjust transparency. Alter the settings for line features as needed. Alter the settings for polygon features as needed. Alter the outline by changing values at the beneath the outline tick box. 16

17 Once the symbology is set up as needed, return to the add shapefile screen Save the shapefile as a zip file to load into the widget. The.shp and.dbf files both need to be included in the zip file. The.prj is may also be included Click and navigate to the desired zip file. The zip file will show up in the widget window with the symbology. 17

18 Add Excel Spreadsheet to Map Create symbology desired for values Click upload and navigate to the desired excel spreadsheet. Note the instructions along the bottom of the widget s window. 18

19 Edit To add a point/polygon: 1, Use the Find NZTM point tool or search tool to zooming to the location Tip: you can minimise the locate tool, so you have more space on the map and your red target are still visible. 2, Click on the Edit widget to open the Edit templates, 3, Click the template you want to draw, like CONSENT POINT 4, Click on the location that you want the feature to be 5, Enter the ID then HIT THE ENTER KEY (on your keyboard). When the mouse become a black cross, you can drag/move the point to a new location To delete a point/polygon: 1, zooming to the location 2, turn off the Environment view layers 3, click the Edit tool/widget, (Do NOT select any templates) 4, click on the point you want to delete, the point will highlighted in yellow 5, Make sure the pop up ID for the point is the one you want to delete, then click the red cross button. 6, close the Edit widget. 19 Tips: 1, Turn off the Environment view layers when editing a point/polygon 2, Turn off the Edit layers, when identify a point/polygon 3, Use the search tool to help to find the location, eg, search for parcels, address, streets etc.

20 TIPS Zoom in close for labels to show. Grouped layers in the legend widget will not activate if there are no active layers inside it. If a layer won t activate, expand it and turn one or more layers on and try activating the parent again. To clear any widget just click Close icon top right of widget. Suggest turn off the Base info basemap service before using Identify widget etc. The Catchment boundaries are on by default in the Environment service may want to check layer off before using any widgets. Remember to select the ID by point/polygon icon in the Identify widget before trying to identify a feature. Known bug pan hand tool locks becomes arrow head after using certain widgets. Solution refresh browser or click the zoom in or zoom out tool to change the cursor symbol to be non pan before use the Identify tool the first time When using Search widget, if you want to search by road, address etc. it is the second icon on the widget bar. 20
