6 What do executive search firms actually do? There are many recruitment angencies who describe themselves as executive search companies, but few who actually are. So, what s the difference between executive search companies and recruitment agencies, and why does it matter? The best way to truly understand the benefits of an executive search approachs is to look at how it differs from contingency recruitment the typical model for recruitment agencies. Work with a recruitment agency and you ll soon find your inbox flooded with CVs. Great, lots of options... Hold on! Not so great. Now you ve got to spend valuable time sorting through them all and deciding which applicants are suitable. The contingency model drives volumes of candidates from the agency in the hope that one will stick it s like throwing darts at a board with a blindfold on and hoping to hit the bullseye! This scattergun approach may leave you wondering how this is an improvement over your own internal recruitment options. Our approach is different. Look closer at many of these organisations and you ll find a commonor-garden contingency recruitment agency.

7 The Sourcing Solved difference Our approach to Executive Search is designed to be refined and focused. It delivers targeted results. Sourcing Solved start with the people. During that time, we have developed a unique network of contacts across multiple sectors and disciplines. This enables us to communicate with high achievers outside the reach of conventional recruiting pathways. The Sourcing Solved team have not only been in executive search during this time. You will see that we are procurement people ourselves, having worked at the sharp end in blue-chip businesses and in leading management consultancies. How long does it take? We have helped many great businesses find exceptional people. As long as it takes! The whole process can be complete within a couple of months, but the overall timeframe is dependent on what you need. It all depends on the complexity of the search, the seniority of the role and your own specific requirements, as well as the availability of key stakeholders within your own business.

9 Our commitment to you We re confident that our refined approach will uncover the perfect person for your role. But we also structure our payment terms to minimise your financial outlay in the event that a candidate is not hired. Our standard retainer agreement works on a 3,2,4,1 basis, (30% at commencement of our engagement, 20% on shortlist, 40% on signature of contract and 10% on joining your business). So, if a candidate isn t hired at the end of the project, the final 50% of the fee isn t paid. Sourcing Solved s only requirement is to operate with exclusivity. This means all online ads are removed for the duration of our agreement and no internal hiring for the role occurs. In this way, we re able to work discreetly and minimise potential conflicts. Our fee structure is designed to motivate us to deliver the best result for you and is one of our differentiators.

10 Seven steps to Procurement success Finding the perfect person for your position takes effort and planning. At Sourcing Solved, we have developed a seven-step approach that guides our process. This strategy also forms the basis of all our reporting. 1 Fact-finding Following a thorough consultation with you, we create a detailed description of the role, your business, your culture and your competitors, along with a portrait of your ideal person; their skills, personality, background and experience. 2 Initial communications The search begins as we start contacting possible candidates. We ll present you with one or two candidates for benchmarking feedback. This initial feedback from you is critical to the success of the overall project it enables us to precisely refine our search, so that we can quickly home in on the right people. 3 Develop prospects We ll now use the results of the first two steps to screen and qualify all prospects. Successful prospects (based on our analysis of their skills compared to your needs) are converted into candidates and placed on our targeting agenda. From here we will track their progress through our system. 4 Candidate evaluation Before we introduce any candidates to you, we thoroughly review each one. This review process includes: a. Our notes from stages two and three b. Discreetly obtaining and analysing reviews and feedback from their peers we know a lot of people in procurement and business! c. Direct consultations with candidates; ideally face-to-face or via video conference if time or location makes this preferable 5 Candidate proposal We introduce to you the candidates who are successful in our analysis to you. Introductions are staggered and, once an introduction is made, we work with you to obtain feedback. Any positive or negative feedback on candidates at this stage is used to further refine Sourcing Solved s targeting and qualification strategy.

11 6 Selections and interviews We encourage you to start with a first round of two-way consultative meetings (as opposed to interviews) with the shortlisted candidates either via telephone or face-to-face. This enables you and the candidate to find out more about each other. Remember, it s not a normal job interview. The professionals we approach are often comfortable in their current roles, and may not have been thinking about moving jobs. At this stage, you are taking over and selling your company to the candidate, as well as starting to assess them for fit into your business. They will be keen to get a thorough understanding of your company, its culture, credibility and what the opportunity can mean to them. Meanwhile, you re able to understand their skills, personality, behaviour and abilities. If you decide a candidate is unsuitable, you can remove them from the shortlist. Candidates may also withdraw if they feel the opportunity isn t right for them. A second and perhaps third round of interviews then take place with key stakeholders, either on neutral ground or at your premises, whichever is more appropriate. Following this, the shortlist is whittled down further. By the second or third interviews, the mutual interest should be genuine and the discussions more structured and formal. 2 Search agenda Targeting Recruiting 5 Shortlist Client Offer 7 You re now able to make your final decisions. Ideally, this results in in an employment offer to a successful candidate. Once an offer is accepted and there is a signature on an employment contract, we consider our work to be complete.
