End of Life Task Force Vaccine News Dinner with Doctors General Election DO Day at the Legislature AOMA Calendar Doctors That DO Brand Awareness Campaign Comes to Arizona Osteopathic medicine will be prominently featured across Arizona during October and November 2016, making appearances on billboards, transit stations, and other strategic locations both in print and online media as part of the second phase of the American Osteopathic Association's (AOA) national brand awareness campaign Doctors That DO. The purpose of the campaign is to raise awareness of osteopathic medicine and the unique, whole-person healthcare DOs provide. The Phoenix metropolitan area was selected by AOA as one of three communities to tell the DO story. AOMA made it a priority to invest in this campaign and bring the message to Arizona. In addition to the outdoor, print, and online advertising, AOMA has published a special edition of the AOMA Digest spotlighting the campaign; developed a tool kit with resources, graphics, and messages for DOs to participate in spreading the news about Doctors That DO; and is generating excitement about the campaign with DO Go!, a scavenger hunt-like game to "catch" the billboards that go live October 3rd. Check out the special edition of the AOMA Digest featuring the Doctors That DO campaign, the tool kit, and DO Go! on the AOMA website. Join us in celebrating Doctors That DO! Learn more at Read the press release. Save OMT Update More than 5,000 D.O.s and OMSs responded to the call to contact CMS and Save OMT. Thanks to these advocacy efforts, the National Government Services (NGS) will put new policies in to place to appropriately pay for OMT for Medicare beneficiaries. Your voice does matter! The mission of this task force is to review care at the end of life in Arizona, to identify strengths and unmet needs, and to make recommendations that provide practical solutions to improve care for this segment of the population. Twenty five physicians representing a broad array of specialties from urban and rural areas and a variety of practice settings, including academic, have volunteered to serve. They will meet monthly and share clinical experiences, review recent literature, consider changing views toward end of life care, and examine recent legislation in California and elsewhere. They may conduct surveys of physicians and the public and will make recommendations to the leadership of AOMA and ArMA regarding policy. We are seeking a nephrologist and an oncologist to join the task force; however, any interested physician who wishes to participate and learn more, please contact Task Force Chair Ron Fischler, M.D. ronfischler@cox.net.
