1 CURRICULUM VITAE JAMES J. DEARING, D.O. 328 W. Campo Bello Drive Phoenix, AZ cell Chief Medical Officer, John C. Lincoln Physician Health System/Dearing Family Medicine Present Private Practice, Overview: Leadership and quality have been an integral part of my career as evidence by my multiple roles in this area for Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Arizona, John C. Lincoln Primary Care Group (Lincoln PPG), John C. Lincoln Hospital Trauma Center as well as the American Academy of Family Physicians and the American Osteopathic Association Board of Directors. These board positions have given me the opportunity to meet great leaders from all across the world. These relationships have given me unique opportunities including the Patient Centered Medical Home pilot that I am participating in with United Health Care and IBM. I served on the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona Medical Appeals Committee, Clinical Quality Improvement Committee and Credentialing Committee in which I served for 18 years. As president and CEO of Lincoln PPG for 8 years (a 1,000 physician group in Phoenix, AZ), I was able to successfully organize this diverse group of physicians in a network that served the North and Northeast metro Phoenix area. After completing a health policy fellowship I was able to appreciate and implement items within health care reform specifically dealing with physicians, insurance, hospitals and medical schools through my leadership roles in each of those areas. After serving in Washington D.C. as a health care policy fellow I quickly utilized the skills I obtained by securing a seat on U.S Senator Jon Kyl s Medical Advisory Committee, which I still occupy today. I also serve on legislative task forces for two medical specialty societies which allows me to work well with state policy makers. I have also served as The Alternate Delegate to the AMA/Specialty Society Relative Value Scale Update Committee (RUC). This committee makes annual recommendations regarding new and revised physician services to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and performs broad reviews of the RBRVS every five years. Finally, fhe experience and respect of my peers serving on two national physician association boards of directors has given me a special edge that would add an extra dimension to your team.
