E. Luggage Pupils are asked to take only one piece of luggage, e.g. one medium sized suitcase or one large holdall bag which will be placed in the hold of the coach. In addition, pupils are allowed one piece of hand luggage which fits under the seat or on the luggage rack inside the coach. Items which will be required during the journey, such as toiletries, food, drink, and games should be placed in the hand luggage. F. What to take? Packed lunch for the journey including breakfast and healthy snacks Plastic bottle or drink container (no glass bottles please) Pens/pencils Pocket money in euros ( 50 will be more than enough for souvenirs, crêpes, ice-creams ) and in pounds ( 10 should be plenty to buy dinner on the last day) Small rucksack for packed lunch etc during day trips Watch European travel adaptor Medical items, all of which should be handed to Mrs Ives on the morning of Friday 18 th October, with the exception of asthma inhalers. Items should be clearly marked with name and instructions. Towel for use at the Château Jeans, shorts, sweatshirts, tee-shirts, underwear and socks Comfortable walking shoes Old pair of trainers Sensible outdoor clothing (anorak or waterproof jacket) Nightwear and slippers Toiletries A camera Costume for French night Party clothes for the disco Large plastic bag for dirty clothes For the activities: T-shirts, long-sleeved tops, jeans (old ones for Nightline)

4 Please ensure that as many items as possible are labelled, and that your child s luggage is labelled. For practical reasons, pupils will not travel in their school uniform. G. Valuables Pupils are asked to keep these to a minimum. If pupils do bring mobile phones / digital cameras / mp3 players / Nintendo DS, it is important that they understand that they are responsible for them at all times. The school will not take responsibility for any items being lost or damaged. The insurance policy will not cover careless handling of possessions or money. (Please note that telephoning from a mobile phone abroad is extremely expensive!) Mobile phones will be collected on boarding the coach and will be kept in a safe box by Miss Menegaz. The box will subsequently be kept in the château s safe. Pupils will be allowed to make calls home or send text messages before or after dinner every evening during a half an hour period. Miss Menegaz and Mr Martin will remain contactable at all times on the school mobiles (see section C) but please only use this number in case of emergency. Any pupil caught using an electronic item inappropriately (eg. accessing the internet on a DS) will have the item confiscated and will be subject to consequences in line with our behaviour policy on our return to school. Pupils will be responsible for their own pocket money for the duration of the trip and should ensure that they keep it in a safe place and do not spend it all on the first day. If inappropriate items are bought (eg. bangers, pen-knives ), they will be confiscated. It is therefore in the pupils interest to spend their money wisely. H. Insurance Château Beaumont provides a comprehensive travel insurance cover, arranged with Fogg Travel and underwritten by Union Reiseverscherung AG who are both authorised and regulated by the FSA. It will cover medical expenses should we need to claim. More detail is available on request. I. Behaviour It is expected that pupils will conduct themselves appropriately at all times. As representatives of their school and country abroad, they should be sensible, listen carefully to safety briefings, report any problem to staff immediately, be on time when returning to pre-arranged checkpoints, and always stay in groups of 3 minimum. It goes without saying that consumption of alcohol or smoking will not be tolerated. There will be sanctions for inappropriate behaviour. Any damage to property will be paid for by the pupil concerned.

Safety measures Risk assessment carried out (copy available for consultation) Instructors are trained to UK National Governing Body standards, First Aid trained and CRB-checked; activities all risk- assessed Château Beaumont regularly inspected by Prefecture de Laval and the Département de la Jeunesse (social welfare of young people) Rooming arrangements overseen by staff staff morning / bedtime / night duties Safety briefings to pupils (seatbelts on coach, fire exit procedure at the château, etc) First Aid kit + staff aware of medical issues Pupils to be given emergency slip in French with château number + SM s and IRM s emergency mobile numbers Emergency contact numbers for parents Travel insurance for medical assistance Miss Menegaz
