2 GENERAL INFORMATION -, Municipal Equipment, Natural Stone, Machinery and Equipment Exhibition was held between 3-6 October 2013 in Basrah Iraq. The official opening ceremony was held with the participation of Deputy Governor of Basrah, Mr. Nezar Rabeea Al Jabri; General Consular of Turkey in Basrah, Mr. Faruk Kaymakcı; Iranian General Consul in Basrah; Russian General Consul in Basrah; Commercial Attache of Turkey; Basrah Chamber of Commerce; Basrah Business Council, and Chairman of Pyramids Group Fair Company, Mr. Mohamed Sherif Hashem. Basrah Building attracted near 244 brand names from 11 countries, covering a full range of the latest constrution technologies and solutions. Covering large scale of building & construction industry & sub-sectors with full support from local and regional trade unions, associations, governmental and ministerial bodies and chambers of commerce increased the event s importance even higher. Basrah Building was visited by more than visitors during 4 days event. Participated countries: UAE, Italy, Germany, Turkey, Lebanon,Iran, India, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, qatar and China. There was national pavilions from Iraq, Turkey and Iran at Basrah Building Exhibition. 2

Superb strategic location a gateway to the region Iraq has historically occupied a pivotal position in the Arabian Gulf and Middle East region. It has strategically important ports and airports and can prove to be a cost-effective trading and distribution location. Unmet needs of a diverse domestic market Iraq s strategic position, availability of people and competitive cost base make it an excellent location from which to export to the region and to the world. However, given that the majority of goods sold now in Iraq are imported, Iraq s domestic market of 34 million people offers an obvious opportunity to produce and sell goods and service to provide import substitution. 4

Work on hundreds of major projects worth US$43.5 billion - pledged by the interim Iraqi government with funds from Iraq s own oil revenues - is moving ahead. IRAQ- Basrah International fairground NEXT EVENT OCTOBER 2014 Reconstruction contracts are no longer restricted to a number of countries. They are now being awarded and supervised by Iraqi ministries, a development that has encouraged suppliers and contractors from around the world to come forward and grab a share of the multibillion-dollar redevelopment process. It is estimated that over the next four years, Iraq s new government will be spending more than US$150 billion on reconstruction of key sectors. 5
