5 Asociacion de Fabricantes de Equipos para control de Emisiones Vehiculares de America del Sur (AFEEVAS) South America The South America Vehicles Emission Control Equipments Manufacturers Association (AFEEVAS) is a non-profit civil society created in April 2001 from the main industries of this segment, following the example of the main associations of MECA/USA (Manufacturers of Emission Controls Association), AECC/Europe (Association for Emissions Control by Catalyst), ECMA/India (Emission Controls Manufacturers Association) and others in countries that have already controlled their vehicular emissions. Its mission is to provide technical information on vehicles emission control, helping the establishment of an effective national and international air quality politics that promotes the public health, the environmental quality and the industrial progress. 6 Association for Emissions Control by Catalyst (AECC) Europe The Association for Emissions Control by Catalyst (AECC) is the international scientific association of European companies making technologies for vehicle exhaust emissions control. AECC is based in Brussels, Belgium and was founded in The members of AECC are companies operating worldwide in the development, testing, and manufacture of automobile catalysts, ceramic and metallic substrates, and specialty materials incorporated into the catalytic converter. This includes catalyst, adsorber, and filter-based systems for the control of gaseous and particulate emissions from diesel and other lean-burn engines. Members technologies are incorporated in the exhaust emission control systems on all new cars and an increasing number of commercial vehicles, buses, and motorcycles in Europe. 7 Committee of Vehicle Emission Control in China (CVEC) China Vehicle production and population in China are growing rapidly, and their pollutants adversely affect cities air quality. In order to control vehicle emissions and promote sustainable development of the auto industry, the Committee of Vehicle Emission Control in China (CVEC) was founded in Members of the Committee manufacture products related to vehicle emission control. The objectives of the Committee are to: 1) foster and promote the use of latest technology for the control of pollutants from motor vehicle, 2) collect and disseminate information about laws and regulations and studies relating to vehicle emissions and their control methods, 3) organize experts to draft relevant standards and technical policies and provide technical consultation to government, 4) promote the technical exchange between domestic and foreign experts, and 5) hold seminars and promote activities relating to vehicle emission control. 8 Emission Controls Manufacturers Association (ECMA) India ECMA is a non-profit Association made up of the world s leading manufacturers of Emission Control equipment for Automobile and non-road engines in India. The Association was established in the year 2002 and this is among the first Association of its kind in the country. The member companies have been operating worldwide and have rich experience and a proven track record in the development, testing and manufacturing of catalytic converters and catalyst / heat tubes for 2 - Wheelers / Cars / LCV s / HCV s manufacturers and Off-Road application like Generators (Petrol / Diesel). Formed in 1976, MECA s mission is to provide solid technical information on emission controls, thereby facilitating the establishment of a strong and effective state, national, and international air quality policy that promotes public health, environmental quality, and industrial progress.
