1 FAQ's Q: What is the cost of the Texas A&M Volleyball Camp? A: The cost of the Position and Advanced camps is $440 for overnight campers and $400 for non-resident/day campers. The cost for the All-Skills Camp is $430 for overnighters and $400 for day campers. The cost for a Team attending the Competitive Training Camp is $440 per camper, however Teams must be comprised of a minimum of 12 players (up to 16 players per team/court) and teams meeting that minimum will receive a $40/player discount. Coaches must register their teams online to set up a team name and password ahead of the individual team member registrations. There is a $500 deposit payment required from the coach in order to reserve a space for your team in the Competitive Training Camp. The $500 coach s deposit will be refunded if your team reaches a minimum of 12 members per team. A $75 non-refundable deposit is required for the registration of all campers. This year we will only be accepting online registrations and payments (see links on this page or at Payments may be made with credit cards and debit cards. Q: Can you give me a brief description of the camps? A: Of course... All-skills Camp: This camp is designed for the beginning to intermediate player to stress the basic skills required to play volleyball at any level. We will introduce each skill to all players and emphasize the key points that we feel have helped to make the Aggie Volleyball program one of the best in the country. We will also place the campers in team training situations to allow them to apply the skills they have learned and to learn the basics of team play. Campers will be evaluated when they come into camp and will be grouped with players of like abilities and age. Each group will progress at an appropriate rate for that group. In team training and competition we will try to maximize the groups ability to compete by introducing some specialization by position, but we will encourage players to get a feel for each of the positions. The All Skills Camp is aimed at beginners and younger intermediate players. Position Training Camp: Campers will spend approximately 20-25% of their time in position groups (setters, hitters, middles, liberos) doing position specific training. We will also be spending time in our mixed groups and teams doing team training drills that will re-emphasize the work that is done in the position groups. Players will need to sign up in a specific position (we are limiting enrollment by position to allow balanced groups for team training and competition). The emphasis will be on the individual skills by position and then using them in team/game situations. Campers will be evaluated when they come into camp and will be grouped with players of like abilities and age. Each group will progress at an appropriate rate. The Position Training Camps are aimed at intermediate players. This camp is not intended for beginners. Advanced Training Camp: This camp will be run just like a pre-season training camp. We will spend some time with the basic instructions for skills by position and some time with position specific training (as in the Position Camp), but a majority of the time will be spent in practice sessions. We will do mostly team training designed to emphasize the demands specific to each position. It is similar to a team camp without having to sign up as a team. The emphasis will be on optimizing team play by improving individual skills in a team setting. Campers will be evaluated when they come into camp and will be grouped with players of like abilities and age. Each group will progress at an appropriate rate. The Advanced Training Camp is aimed at advanced and advanced-intermediate who have already begun position-specific play with competitive teams. This camp is designed to meet the needs of intermediate to advanced players (ie. Varsity level) and is not intended for beginners. Evaluations for All-Skills, Position Training and Advanced Training Camps: Campers will be tested on individual skills at the beginning of each camp to help us divide the camp up into working groups. During the first two sessions we will divide campers randomly (in age groups) and put the campers through skill instruction/drills appropriate for their positions. Following the evening session we will divide them into groups and post the group rosters for the morning session. We do not rank the campers from 1 through 150 and just divide them by number and groups 1 through 10. We try to soften the edges of each group by dividing the camp into levels. At each level we attempt to divide into even groups and teams so that training will be more uniform and the games will be more competitive. We prioritize skill execution, physical ability/attributes, and age factors for sorting players into levels for camp. Competitive Training Camp: This camp is designed to help advanced players polish up their individual skills while learning

2 to execute team strategies for winning rallies, games and matches. Following some initial review for individual skills the majority of the camp sessions will be dedicated to competitive drills and scrimmages. Instruction will be geared towards maximizing each individual s skills to maximize a team s opportunities for success utilizing drills and tactics that help Texas A&M win the SEC Championship. This camp is intended for experienced players with strong individual skills and understanding of the game. This camp is limited to players entering grades High School and Club Coaches: if you would like to bring your team to this session we can accommodate you and offer you a team discount for groups of players. We will also give you the option to have your sessions customized to fit your team s needs. Please contact us for more detailed information. Q: Do you offer discounts for your camps? A: Yes, we offer two different discounts. You may apply only one discount per camper per camp. The Multi-Camp discount is for campers who attend more than one volleyball camp in a summer. A $25 discount will be applied for each camp. The Family discount is for siblings who attend camp (siblings do not have to attend the same session). Families may apply a $25 discount for each camper. The $25 discount will be applied to each family member **Discounts will be applied automatically to online applications. We are also offering the Team discount for teams of players attending the Competitive Training Camp of $40 per team member. Q: Where will these camps be held? A: The camps will be held at Texas A&M University's main campus in College Station, TX and nearby local facilities. We will utilize Reed Arena, the new Texas A&M PEAP Building (Kinesiology). Q: What time is Check-in? A: Check-in for all campers is from 10:00am until 11:30am on the first day of each camp (Day Campers, too). Check-in will be at the East Entrance to Reed Arena. The campers will receive their keys there and then proceed to the College Station (501 University Oaks Blvd) unless notified otherwise ahead of time. Q: What time is Check-out? A: Check-out will be at 4:00pm on the last date of your camp, except for the Competitive Training Camp. Check-out for the Competitive Training Camp will be at 12:00 noon. All campers, including Day Campers, will check-out at the College Station dorm following the closing ceremony. Q: What is included in the camp fees? A: Your payment covers camp tuition, a Texas A&M Volleyball Camp T-shirt, a Texas A&M logoed Molten camp volleyball, lodging for overnight campers, three meals per day (3 meals per day for day-campers as well), expert instruction and lots of volleyball. Q: Will parents be allowed to watch the activities? A: Of course! We do ask that you identify yourself to the camp staff for security reasons. The camps conclude with tournament play on the last session of camp. Parents are encouraged to attend these sessions and cheer on their favorite camper. Q: Is this an overnight camp or a day camp? A: You have the option to attend as a day camper, but most campers will be overnight campers and enjoy making new friends. Q: When and where do day campers meet each day? A: Day campers should meet at the College Station dorm prior to the bus departure for the morning sessions each day, approximately 8:30am. Day Campers must also be picked up each night, at approximately 9:10pm each evening and check-out with a staff member in the lobby of the College Station. Check-in will be at the College Station dorm. Q: Where will the campers be housed? A: The campers will be housed nearby in an off-campus dormitory called the College Station (501 University Oaks Blvd) dorm. It is a recently opened facility that features suite style rooms with a private bathroom and a small living area. There will be 2-4 campers per room/suite. In rooms with 4 campers there are two bathrooms. Each room has a refrigerator and microwave oven. Take the virtual tour at Campers will be bused to and from activity sessions on chartered buses. Q: Does the camp provide linen service? A: No, unfortunately the dorms will not provide this service for our summer camps. You will need to bring your own sheets,

3 blankets (or sleeping bag), pillow and towel (shower/pool). Q: What should my camper bring to camp? A: We suggest: Alarm clock or a watch with an alarm Volleyball Shoes Kneepads Ankle braces (highly recommended) Athletic clothes Bathing suit (for swimming) Sheets and blankets (or sleeping bag) Pillow Towel (Shower/Swimming) Sleepwear Toiletries Sunscreen (if you re going to be swimming) Necessary medications (the Training staff can help with dispensing of medications if necessary) Q: How will campers get to the gyms? A: Campers will be bused to and from the dorm via insured, chartered buses. Coaches and staff will ride along with the campers during the short (approximately 1 mile) trip. Q: Are meals included in the cost? A: Yes, three meals per day are included in the cost for overnight campers. Day camp rates include breakfast, lunch and dinner. The first meal served will be dinner on the first day of camp. Please eat prior to the first session on the first day of camp. Q: Will my child be supervised in the dorm? A: Yes! The coaches and staff will be housed in the dorm along with the campers. All camp staff members will have cleared a background check and taken state mandated training courses regarding interaction with, and supervision of minors. The College Station also has 24-hour front desk supervision, security staff and video surveillance cameras. Coach/staff doors will be clearly marked during the camps. Campers will not be allowed to leave the dorm except for supervised camp activities. Q: What other activities will be part of the daily scheduled activities? A: We are first and foremost a volleyball camp and have earned a reputation as a volleyball intensive camp. The only scheduled activities are volleyball activities. During the lunch, dinner and evening breaks the campers will have access to the staff-supervised recreation facilities at the dorm (pool, fitness room, rec-room, TV). Q: Will my child have a phone in the dorm room? A: No, unfortunately we will not be able to offer phone service in the rooms. Pay phones are available and cell phones are permitted. Q: How can I contact my child in case of an emergency? A: We will supply you with a list of emergency contact numbers at check-in. This will include coach and staff cell phone numbers for 24 hr/day availability. If you will not be at check-in with your daughter you may call the TAMU volleyball office ( , ) and we will supply you with the contact numbers. Q: Will my camper have access to trainers if necessary? A: Yes. We will have trainers at the gyms during all activity sessions and in the dorms overnight. Q: Will my daughter be able to choose her own roommate? A: Yes. We will do our best to match you with your preferred roommate however, we cannot always do so. Please mark your roommate preference clearly on your application and make your request early. To better ensure that your roommate preference is granted, have her list you on her request as well so that the request forms match. Q: How much spending money should I send with my camper? A: Since meals are included in your camp fees, your daughter should only need enough money for snacks and camp apparel from the camp store. We recommend that you send no more than $30. We will have pizza by the slice available for purchase each night. We are working with our registration company to set up an online Camp Bank for your camper. If we are able to work this out we will notify you prior to camp and you will be able to set that up via your registration account.

4 Q: Where can I buy Texas A&M Volleyball/Camp apparel and souvenirs? A: We will have a camp store for volleyball and souvenir items. The store will be located in the College Station dorm and will be open during Check-in and Check-out. Q: Can I send snacks with my camper? A: Yes. Each room suite will have a mini-refrigerator/freezer and a small microwave. Feel free to send enough snacks and drinks to last the entire camp. Mini-packs of microwave popcorn please. Don't forget to pack a little something extra for your favorite coach. Q: What is a typical daily schedule? A: 7:00a Wake-up 7:20 Breakfast 8:45 Individual skills and drills 1130 Lunch 12:00 Rest/Free time at dorm 1:45 Combination skills and drills 4:30 Dinner 5:00 Rest 6:00 Video/Camp Games 6:30 Team practice sessions/scrimmage 9:00 Free time in dorms 10:30 Bed Check/Lights out! Q: What is the camper to coach ratio for the camp? A: For each group of campers there will be 2 coaches equaling a ratio of between 6:1 and 8:1. Younger campers will generally have smaller groups. Coaches will be with their teams/groups for a majority of the camp so that they can develop a good rapport with their campers. Q: Sounds great! How do I sign-up? A: You may register here, online and pay by credit card. Use the link on this page or from the Volleyball page at Q: How many spaces do you have in your camps? A: We have a limited number of spaces in our camps due to limits in the dorms and facilities. Spaces are filled on a firstcome, first-served basis and you will need a completed application and deposit to hold your spot. Please remember that our camps are extremely popular and have sold out every summer so don t delay. Q: Are the medical forms and physicians signature required? A: Each camper must have completed a physical from a licensed physician within a year from the start of camp. In order to certify that your child has been cleared by a licensed physician, you must sign the camp waiver during the online registration process. Q: What about parking on campus during the camps? VERY IMPORTANT INFORMATION! A: VISITOR PARKING DURING CAMPS (These are CAMPUS-WIDE rules) In order to avoid problems and reduce confusion, we have been asked to distribute parking information and regulations for summer camp. Parents/relatives/friends that are helping campers register or unload for camp will be allowed to park in the registration/dormitory areas for a limited amount of time free of charge. However, anyone wishing to stay on campus beyond registration and unloading will be required to purchase a parking permit. Please make this information available to all registered campers families and friends. Summer camp visitors who wish to park on campus must purchase a parking permit OR pay to park in a visitor parking garage.
