2 Dear Club President, Attached is the Announcement Package for the 2016 Skate Canada Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Skating Championships, to be held February 26-28, 2016 hosted by the Seaport Skaters SC of Botwood Please copy and distribute the complete package to all qualified skaters and coaches in your club. Parents must ensure that all information is fully completed with photos. Club cheques should be made payable to Seaport Skaters Skating Club. All forms for Byed Skaters must be received by the host club no later than January 15th, 2016 Incomplete forms may be returned, possibly causing a late fee or ineligibility. 3 2016 Skate Canada Newfoundland & Labrador Provincials Announcement and Information EVENT: 2016 Skate Canada NL Provincials; this competition is a Skate Canada Newfoundland & Labrador sanctioned event. DATE: February 26 28, 2016 LOCATION: Harry Ivany Arena, Botwood Ice Surface 184 x 80 HOST CLUB: Seaport Skaters Skating Club COMPETITION CHAIRPERSON: Jennifer Foss at foss.jen@gmail.com ENTRY FEE: $70.00 per single part events $ for events involving 2 or more parts. In addition, an $8.00 officials and technology development fee per skater entered is charged. Please forward this amount to your home club, who will write one club cheque and forward to the host club. Competitors entering more than one category must complete an entry form for EACH category. Entries will not be accepted unless a copy of current Skate Canada Membership Card is attached. Please ensure applications are filled out completely, incomplete applications may not be accepted. Planned Program Sheets required for Star 5 to Gold and Pre-Juvenile to Senior. (Whenever possible to be submitted with application form) BYES All STAR Skate Junior Silver, Senior Silver, & Gold freeskate; Silver and Gold skills; Silver and Gold interpretive; Competitive Skate; Special Olympic and Skate competitors shall receive a bye through the Divisional Championships. Provincial Championship entry for byed categories shall be made directly to the Provincial host committee no later than Friday, January 15th, Byes may be granted in single entry categories for all Divisional championships. It shall be the responsibility of the divisional host committee to inform skaters if they are eligible for a bye (in a single entry category) not later than 7 days after the closing date for entries to the Divisional Championships. Skaters then have 7 days from the date of notice, to choose to accept a bye and withdraw without penalty, or not. Additional byes may be granted in extenuating circumstances. AGE RESTRICTION Age is considered to be the age of the skater before July 1, preceding the event. Competitors must be 18 years and under except for those entered in Competitive Skate categories, which are governed by Skate Canada age restrictions, and those entered in Special Olympics categories, which have no age limit; all competitors 19 years and older receive an automatic bye to the Provincial Championships for Skate categories.

4 PHOTO: A photo of the skater can accompany the entry. If possible this photo should be wallet size. The following information should be noted on the back of the photo: Skater s Name, Age, Home Club, & Skating Category. ENTRY DEADLINE: All entries from each club should be sent in one package along with one club cheque (payable to Seaport Skaters Skating Club) to cover all club monies due. This package should be received no later than January 15 th (if sending by mail please postmark by January 11 th. 2016), Send to Mia Evans, P.O. Box 635, Botwood, NL A0H 1E0 All forms for Byed Skaters must be received by the host club no later than January 15th, CATEGORIES TO BE SKATED: As per the Skate Canada NL Technical Package. Awards: The top three placements in each category shall be awarded a prize. In a category where there are less than three entries, then the number of prizes shall equal the number of entries. MUSIC: Two copies of the music are to be submitted on CD to the music committee at registration. Each CD should be clearly marked with the following information: 1) Skater s name and home club 2) Category 3) recording time of music 4) Master or Copy. COACHES ACCREDITATION: Coaches must be members of Skate Canada; NCCP Level 1 Certified and possess a valid First Aid Certificate. Coaches must register and present their identification at the registration desk. SCHEDULE: A detailed schedule will be posted at as soon as possible after the deadline. REGISTRATION: One hour prior to the start of scheduled category. OPENING CEREMONIES: All skaters are expected to participate with the exception of those skaters competing immediately following the ceremonies. All Clubs and Regions are expected to bring their banners. Dress code for the ceremonies includes skating club suits, competition attire, or dress pants, no jeans please. MEDAL PRESENTATIONS: Medals presentations will be scheduled and posted in the arena. Skaters are asked to wear their competition outfits please. QUALIFYING CATEGORIES: Please note that Provincials is a qualifying event for Skate Atlantica. Byed skaters must indicate whether they will be attending should they qualify. Home clubs must submit all related entry fees immediately following the Provincial championships. Skate Canada Newfoundland and Labrador, in conjunction with Skate Canada Nova Scotia and Skate Canada Prince Edward Island, is happy to be able to give our skating community more details on World's Finest Chocolate Skate Atlantica.

5 World's Finest Chocolate Skate Atlantica will be held APRIL 8 9, 2016 in Nova Scotia Skaters must qualify to represent Newfoundland and Labrador at this Provincial competition and the top 6 skaters in each category will be selected. (Star 5, Sr Bronze, Jr Silver, Sr Silver and Gold Singles along with Pre Juvenile to Junior single) at this event.
