3 Help preserve one of the greatest musical instruments in the world Built in 1926 as the largest musical instrument ever conceived and with 8 manual divisions and pedals, 199 draw stops controlling 10,268 pipes, played from two massive consoles it is the largest organ in the UK. The Grand Organ of Liverpool Cathedral is internationally renowned as one of the greatest church organs in the world but, after 86 years of continuous daily use in worship, the organ badly requires major restoration work. This leaflet shows some of the ways you can help us raise the 900,000 needed to preserve one of the greatest musical instruments in the world. Whether it is a simple one off donation, supporting us with a fundraising event, adopting a pipe or taking part in a unique Organ Experience we have ways for you to help us reach our target. We ve already raised 250,000 towards our total. With your help we can preserve this magnificent instrument for future generations. 90th Anniversary Recital 15th October 2016 Our dream is for the organ to be completely restored in time for its 90th Anniversary Recital. David Wells Organ Builders, who have looked after the organ since 1980, began the current work in 2009 and have made excellent progress. They will be able to complete the work, provided we can raise the funds. You can adopt a range of pipes at prices to suit: 2 for Pipes up to 2ft long 4 for Pipes of 4ft and smaller 8 for Pipes up to 8ft long 16 for Pipes up to 16ft and 32 for Pipes of 32ft and smaller The Bombarde Organ stops are 25 per pipe, The Tuba Magna, Trompette Militaire and 64ft Resultant Bass are 50 per pipe. When you adopt a pipe you receive a special certificate, priority booking at the Gala opening and other events and the adopters name recorded in our special commemorative book.
