Apprenticeships Lincoln Newark Gainsborough
How can an Apprenticeship shape my future? As an Apprentice, you will have a job and build up your knowledge and skills, gaining nationally recognised qualifications providing you with a springboard to progress and develop your skills further. How exactly do Apprenticeships work? Apprenticeships are a training partnership between your employer, the College and you as the Apprentice. Your training programme combines elements to give you a comprehensive knowledge of your chosen sector. Your training is practically focussed and relates directly to your job role. What are the entry requirements for an Apprenticeship? There are different entry requirements depending on the Apprenticeship and the industry sector. Please see the individual course outlines for details. As part of the application process, you will be invited to an information / assessment day. This will involve an assessment of your basic skills, an interview and where applicable trade related tests. As an Apprentice you will spend the majority of your time in the workplace where your employer will train you in your job role - your on-the-job training. Depending on the type of Apprenticeship you are undertaking you may be required to come to College on a day or block release your offthe-job knowledge training.
Do you know what job or career you want to follow? Would you like to earn a wage whilst you are learning your skills? Then the Apprenticeship route could be right for you. Apprenticeship Levels There are three different levels of Apprenticeship on offer: Intermediate Apprenticeship (Level 2) Advanced Apprenticeship (Level 3) Higher Apprenticeship (Level 4) Equivalent to 5 good GCSE passes Equivalent to 2 A Level passes Equivalent to a Foundation Degree Contact us to find out which level of Apprenticeship would be suitable for you. Can I be an Apprentice if I don t have a job? You do need a job to complete an Apprenticeship. We can help you through our job vacancy matching service plus provide you with hints and tips for approaching companies directly yourself. Will an Apprenticeship cost me anything? No no training fees to you as an Apprentice. No fees! No debts! Who can become an Apprentice? Anyone aged 16 or above, living in England and not in full time education can become an Apprentice. Apprenticeships are a great option for those about to leave school, employees wishing to get their skills formally recognised or someone seeking to start a new career. Visit vacancies for details of companies looking for an apprentice. Also register on to search for job vacancies.
How do I get started with an Apprenticeship? I do not have a job 1. First complete a College application form (online or request a hard copy) 2. Visit to view our current vacancies with employers. Also register with and search and apply for Apprenticeship job vacancies. 3. Once you have applied for an Apprenticeship, you may be invited to attend an information/assessment day. 4. When you apply for an apprenticeship vacancy, and subject to being shortlisted, the company will invite you for an interview. If you are successful you will be appointed as an Apprentice. 5. Shortly after you have commenced your employment you will be enrolled onto your Apprenticeship programme. 6. Your Apprenticeship begins!
I have a job 1. Speak to your employer and let them know you would like to start an Apprenticeship. 2. Ask your employer to contact our Employer Hotline to find out how an Apprenticeship would work. 3. We will undertake a skills assessment and match your job role with a suitable Apprenticeship programme. 4. We will agree a Training Plan and enrol you onto your Apprenticeship Programme. 5. 6 About Apprenticeships
What will I complete as part of the Apprenticeship? The Apprenticeship consists of: Functional skills in Maths, English and in some Apprenticeships ICT Vocational qualification Technical certificate Employee Rights and Responsibilities Personal Learning and Thinking Skills How will I be assessed? Your knowledge, skills and understanding of the skills needed for your job role will be assessed through: Observation by an Assessor or an Instructor Portfolio of evidence to support the activities you have undertaken Questioning Witness Testimonies where your employer can confirm that you are completing your tasks required by your job role. Trade and technical tests What hours will I work? You will usually be employed on a full time basis, for 30 hours or more per week (with a maximum of 40 hours per week). Where there are exceptions you must be employed for a minimum of 16 hours per week. How will I get paid and how much? Your actual salary will depend upon your employer. The National Minimum wage for new Apprentices is 2.73* per hour for those under the age of 19 or aged 19+ and in the first year of their Apprenticeship. However, many employers prefer to pay more and research shows that the average salary is approximately 170 per week. How long does an Apprenticeship take? This will depend on the type of Apprenticeship you choose. Apprenticeships can take between 1 and 4 years to complete. What happens after an Apprenticeship? Once you complete your Apprenticeship you can choose to carry on working, undertake more advanced training or even go onto Higher Education. Many Apprentices go on to secure permanent positions with the companies they ve trained with.
