1 Get started Cards are a great way to share your joy with friends and family. We re going to show you just how quick and easy it is to create cards and the wide variety of card types and designs from which to choose. To begin, sign in to your Shutterfly account. (If you don t already have one, click Sign up at the top of the page.) Click the Store tab and from the column on the left of the page, select the Cards link. (Figure 1) Figure 1 Shop by type of card or occasion. There are three different card types from which to choose: Greeting Cards, Designer Cards and Photo Cards (in both 5x7 and 4x8 formats). Click Compare all cards to see the ways in which they differ from one another. Alternatively, shop by occasion you ll find cards for birthdays, baby announcements, thank you s and holidays. (Figure 2) When you ve chosen the card type or occasion, click the Go button directly underneath it to start. Depending on the type of cards you re creating, proceed directly to that part of this tutorial. Figure 2 1

2 Create Greeting Cards Choose a theme from a list of all the cards, or by clicking the Get started button. Once you ve picked a theme, choose the style you d like. Each style accommodates up to a certain number of pictures, so keep that in mind when making your selection. (Figures 3 & 4) Figure 3 Figure 4 2

3 Next, choose the card orientation and layout from the style palette on the left. (Figure 5) Figure 5 Click the Get pictures button to fill your card. On the Collect Pictures page, select entire albums from the folder view or specific pictures from the album view up to 20 pictures in total. The selected items will be highlighted by an orange box around the edge. Click Add to card in the upper-right to add these pictures. Then, when you re done, click Return to card. (Figure 6) Figure 6 Save your card so that if you take a break, you can pick up right where you left off. Select Save as a project on the right, name your card, and then click Save in the dialog box. You ll find your saved card in My projects under the My Shutterfly tab. (Figure 7) Figure 7 3

4 Drag the picture(s) onto your card. Click on any picture to open the edit picture pop-up window, where you can rotate, adjust, fix red-eye and add effects. (Figure 8) Figure 8 To add a caption to your Greeting Card, click on the text box if your chosen style features one. Enter a caption and choose the font type, size, alignment and color of your text. Click the Preview button to see how your text will look, then click Done when you re finished. If you don t want any caption on the card, leave the text box blank. Blank text boxes won t appear on the finished card. Choose the card finish on the right, then click Next. (Figure 9) Figure 9 Next, write a greeting on the inside of the card. As with the front, click on each box, enter a greeting and choose the font type, size, alignment and color of your text. When you re done, click Next. (Figure 10) Figure 10 4

5 Choose a mailing option you can either have the cards sent back to your address so you can deliver them, or have Shutterfly mail the cards on your behalf. If you selected Mail cards for me, enter the names and address of recipients by clicking Add new address or click on the check box next to existing addresses. Then click Next. (Figures 11 & 12) Figure 11 Figure 12 If you d like to enter an optional message that will go on the inside-top of the card, enter it here and choose the font type, size, alignment and color of your text. When you re done, click Next. (Figure 13) Figure 13 Lastly, preview your greeting card on the cover, inside, top and bottom. If you need to make any changes, return to any step by clicking on the numbered button on the line at the top. (Figure 14) Figure 14 5

6 Once you re happy with the way everything looks, click Next. If you previously selected Send cards back to me, select the quantity of cards and the shipping address. You can order as many or as few as you want. On the following page, select the method of shipping and enter any special offers or discounts at the bottom of the page. Lastly, go to the checkout page, choose your form of payment, and click Place my order now. Once you ve entered your payment information, the cards will be printed and sent on their way, arriving in about a week. (Figure 15) Figure 15 Create Designer Cards Choose a theme from a list of all the cards, or by clicking the Get started button. You can also shop by designer. Once you ve picked a theme or designer, choose the style you d like. Each style accommodates up to a certain number of pictures, and some designer cards used for invitations or as correspondence cards are text-only, so keep that in mind when making your selection. 7 For cards that use pictures, click the Get pictures button. On the Collect Pictures page, select entire albums from the folder view or specific pictures from the album view up to 20 pictures in total. The selected items will be highlighted by an orange box around the edge. Click Add to card in the upper-right to add these pictures. Then, when you re done, click Return to card. (Figures 18 & 19) Figure 18 Figure 19 Save your card so that if you take a break, you can pick up right where you left off. Select the Save button on the right, name your card, and then click Save in the dialog box. You ll find your saved card in My projects under the My Shutterfly tab. 8 To enter captions on your Designer Card, click on the text boxes. Follow the instructions about the appropriate content for each box. The font type, size, alignment and color of your text have been preselected for you to match the specific card. Unless your text won t fit, avoid modifying the settings. Click the Preview button to see how your text will look, then click Done when you re finished. If you don t want any caption on the card, leave the text box blank. Blank text boxes won t appear on the finished card. (Figure 22) Figure 22 For a closer look at your card, use the magnifying glass icons at the top of the page to zoom in and out. Navigate by clicking-anddragging the grey box in the upper-right thumbnail. (Figure 23) Figure 23 Click Next to preview your Designer Card. If you need to make any changes, click on the Style and Edit bars to return to those steps. (Figure 26) Figure 26 Create Photo Cards If you ve chosen to create Photo Cards, you ll first need to select a size. Photo Cards come in both 5x7 and 4x8 sizes.
