Get started We re going to show you all the different ways you can use Shutterfly Gallery, the place where members of the Shutterfly community just like you share the beautiful and inspiring projects they ve created on the site. To begin, sign in to your Shutterfly account. (If you don t already have one, click Sign up at the top of the page.) Click the Community tab and have a look around. The best way to start is to browse and search. Browse Shutterfly Gallery In the Gallery, you can view photo books submitted by Shutterfly members, see who s featured in the Member Spotlight, or browse by featured books, categories and popular keywords. (Figures 1,2 & 3) Figure 1 Figure 2 Figure 3 1
Search Shutterfly Gallery You can also find photo books using our search feature. It allows you to search by specific words in the book title; by project description; by keywords; and by the author s community name. To search, enter your search term in the Search Gallery field on the right side of any Gallery page. Make sure to check your spelling, as results will only show for an exact word match. (Figure 4) Figure 4 If you want to participate in the interactive aspects of Shutterfly Gallery or post a book of your own, you ll need a Shutterfly account. Once you have one, a personal profile will automatically be created and assigned to you. In your personal profile, you can modify your screen name, upload your own profile picture and edit the details about a project you ve posted. You can even include a brief description about yourself. Once you ve signed up, you can always locate your community profile at the bottom of My Shutterfly. (Figures 5 & 6) Figure 5 Figure 6 Post your photo book by going to the My Shutterfly tab and selecting Post to Gallery under the Community section. You ll then be taken to the Select a project to post page. Remember to first read our guidelines on posting books, which can be found on the Shutterfly Gallery homepage. (Figure 7) Figure 7 2
Create or modify a profile A personal profile is created automatically with your Shutterfly account. To view your profile, sign in and then click on the module in the upper right of the Gallery homepage that says Hello... On the Profile page, you can personalize your Shutterfly Community name, Profile picture and About me description. Be sure to create a screen name you like, since it s how you ll be represented in the Shutterfly Gallery community in your profile, in photo book posts and in any comments that you d like to make. You can change the name at any time. (Figure 8) Figure 8 As part of your profile, we ll give you a default icon. To use another image, click Change picture and select an image from one of your Shutterfly albums. (Figure 9) Figure 9 In the About Me section write a description about yourself. Check out other profiles to see how you might want to tell your personal story. (Figure 10) Figure 10 3
You can also modify your community profile from the personal information and account settings under My Account or My Shutterfly. Provide feedback Comments You re welcome to comment on any photo book projects in Shutterfly Gallery. In fact, we encourage you to get involved and support others. Our only requirement is that you be signed in to add your comment. Clicking on an individual photo book will take you to that book s details page, where you can look through the pages, read about the author, view comments, the book to a friend or report anything inappropriate. (Figure 11) Figure 11 To add a comment, click Leave a comment on the right of the page. Share your thoughts, then click the Add Comment button to submit. The creators of photo book projects are proud of what they ve done, so please provide encouraging and positive comments. (Figure 12) Figure 12 4
Report any inappropriate comments by clicking Flag to the right of the objectionable comment. (Figure 13) Figure 13 If another user leaves a comment about your posted photo book, we ll send an letting you know. All comments made within a 24-hour period will be combined into one, easy-to-read . If you don t want to receive an , opt out. Go to the Profile page and click Change my Shutterfly Gallery preferences on the right. (Figure 14) Figure 14 On the following page, select the do not option and click Submit. (Figure 15) Figure 15 To delete a comment about a photo book project you ve posted, go to your community profile page, select the Recent activity tab and click Delete to the right of the comment to be removed. (Figure 16) Figure 16 5
Ratings We encourage you to rate Shutterfly Gallery book projects. Roll your mouse over the number of stars that reflects your opinion. Once your rating has been clicked, it s submitted. To keep ratings fair, you may only vote once per book. (Figure 17) Figure 17 Favorites If you d like to add a photo book to your favorites page, click the link to the right of the slideshow that says Save to favorites. The book will automatically be added to the list of your favorites. (Figure 18) Figure 18 To access your favorites list, go to your profile page and select the Favorite Projects tab. (Figure 19) Figure 19 6
Post a photo book Before you post a photo book of your own, review our guidelines found on the Shutterfly Gallery home page. You ll have a better idea of what to expect and what changes to make prior to posting. (Figure 20) Figure 20 Sign in and from the Gallery home page click the Post photo book button. (Figure 21) Figure 21 You ll see all the photo book projects you ve created. (If you don t have any photo books created, you can start one on our Store page.) Choose which book you d like to post and click Post photo book to Gallery on the right column. (Figure 22) Figure 22 7
On the next page, enter information about the book that will give it a unique identity and help others find it on Gallery. Give your book a title, enter a category and write a description. You ll also need to enter tags relevant keywords or terms associated with a photo book that can be used to describe the book to others. For instance, a photo book about travel to the historic monuments in Italy can be tagged with the terms Italy, travel and monuments. There are spaces for four tags, but you can add more tags by clicking the Add more tags link. You may include letters, numbers and underscores in your tag descriptions. The most popular and frequently used tags appear in the tag cloud at the bottom of the Shutterfly Gallery home page. (Figure 23) Figure 23 Finally, agree to the terms and conditions and click the Submit button. (Figure 24) Figure 24 Edit or remove On the My Gallery Projects tab, you ll see a list of all the books that you ve posted to Shutterfly Gallery. Underneath each book entry are two links: Edit post and Remove from Gallery. Selecting Edit post allows you to modify your book s title, categories, tags and description. (Figure 25) Figure 25 Selecting Remove from Gallery permanently deletes that project from the Shutterfly Gallery. You ll first be asked to confirm that you want to remove this project. It may take up to one hour to remove all instances of your photo book from the Gallery pages. To add this project back into the Gallery you ll need to re-post it. (Figure 26) Figure 26 8
Make one like this When you find a photo book that inspires you, it s easy to make one just like it with our Make one like this feature. Once you re signed in and have found a book you like, click on the Make one like this button. The design, styles and layouts of the selected book will automatically be loaded into the photo book you re creating, making it easy to tell your own story. All you have to do is add your own pictures and text. (Figure 27) Figure 27 Even though you may have started your photo book by copying one from the Gallery, you can always personalize yours with the options we offer, including adding and reordering pages, and changing backgrounds and layouts. (Figure 28) Figure 28 When using the Make one like this feature with a Digital Scrapbook, you ll start the photo book with blank pages because each page in a digital scrapbook is a single, custom-created JPEG image. (Figure 29) Figure 29 9
Although the images and text from the Shutterfly member who made the original book will be removed, a pop-up guide of their book can be referenced by clicking the Original Gallery book link on the lower-right of your workspace. (Figure 30) Figure 30 You can also select Start a new book this size below the Make one like this button to start an identically sized book from scratch. (Figure 31) Figure 31 Now you re ready to get started exploring Shutterfly Gallery. Click the Gallery home page to begin or take a look at our storytelling blog to get ideas and inspiration. 10
