1 Student Leader Position Application Process Volunteer Application Packet 2015 MISSION The Office of New Student Programs goal is to streamline the leadership position process, through a combined recruitment and hiring process for University of Missouri-Saint Louis students. The student leader positions are outlined in this packet that describes the specific responsibilities and qualifications, for each of the positions. STUDENT LEADER POSITIONS AVAILABLE Weeks of Welcome (WOW) Crew Leader SWAP Ambassador Transfer Ambassador APPLICATION PROCESS AND TIMELINE January/February: Applications Available online and in the Office of New Student Programs Friday, February 27, 2015 Completed Applications Due Monday, March 2, 2015-Thursday, March 4, 2015 Interviews (if notified) COMPLETE APPLICATION INCLUDES Application Resume Cover Letter Completed Applications are due Friday, February 27, 2015 by 5:00 PM and can be turned in to the Office of New Student Programs, 366 MSC.

I also understand that failure to comply with the above stated agreement, or falsify any part of my application can result in non-selection of this position. I also understand that my application is not considered complete until the application, answer to questions and resume, have been turned in before the deadline to the Office of New Student Programs, Suite 366, 3 rd floor of the Millennium Student Center. Finally, I understand and give permission for my current academic and disciplinary standing to be verified, including my GPA. 3 Weeks of Welcome (WOW) Crew Leader To serve as a member Weeks of Welcome (WOW) Crew and work to facilitate the objectives of the Triton Take-Off Weekend programming for students as outlined by New Student Programs professional staff. Crew Members will work with the program s advisor in order to create, implement, and evaluate events for Fall 2015 Positive attitude toward Weeks of Welcome, Triton Take-Off Weekend and UMSL: We need somebody that is excited about Welcome Weeks and the University of Missouri-St. Louis, and will spread a positive vibe about our programs around campus. Good communication skills: Crew Members communicate with the crew, staff, and students on a daily basis. We need somebody who is able to communicate their ideas to a group and respond through communication in a timely manner. Ability to work with a diverse group: We strive to reach ALL new students through WOW, so you would be encountering a very diverse audience. Punctuality: We expect Crew Members to be on time, and to communicate with professional staff when they need help. Creativity and resourcefulness: Crew Members will be challenged to come up with entertaining and inclusive activities, and will need to be able to think on their feet. Organization: Crew Members will be given various tasks to complete in order to assist with the planning of Triton Take-Off Weekend. Willingness to serve as a positive role model: We are looking for somebody to set a positive example both academically and socially for other students on campus. Provide assistance with the implementation and assessment of Triton Take-Off Weekend and WOW activities. Attending the WOW schedule, meetings, and additional duties as assigned. Work closely and effectively with fellow WOW Crew Leaders. Work as a student leader in promoting Triton Take-Off Weekend and WOW events and providing accurate information to students. Initiate and develop open communication and interaction with your new students, fellow Crew Leaders and professional staff. Work productively and cooperatively with all members of the University community to effectively implement events. Perform any additional duties as assigned by the staff of New Student Programs WOW Crew Leader applicants must have attended one (1) full semester at the University of Missouri-St. Louis (minimum 12 credit hours) and have at least a minimum of a 2.25 overall cumulative grade point average at the time of application. No student may apply for or hold a WOW Crew position while on academic or disciplinary probation. Applicants must: 1) complete an application, and 2) schedule and attend an individual interview. 4 Students Who Are Parents (SWAP) Ambassador The Student Who Are Parents (SWAP) Ambassador position is a volunteer position Represent the SWAP program Act as an ambassador to the SWAP program for current and new parent students at event Positive attitude toward SWAP program: We need somebody that is excited about supporting parent students at University of Missouri-St. Louis, and will market and promote the SWAP program. Good communication skills: SWAP Ambassadors communicate with the team, staff, and student-parents on a daily basis. We need somebody who is able to communicate their ideas to a group and respond through communication in a timely manner. Ability to work with a diverse group: We strive to reach ALL student-parents through the SWAP program, so you would be encountering a very diverse audience. Punctuality: We expect the SWAP ambassador to be on time and to effectively communicate with professional staff members. Creativity and resourcefulness: The SWAP ambassador will be challenged to come up with new and reasonable ideas within a fixed budget. Organization: Will be given various tasks to complete in order to assist with the planning of SWAP events. Willingness to serve as a positive role model: We are looking for somebody to set a positive example both academically and socially for other students on campus. Provide assistance with the creation, implementation, and assessment of SWAP activities. Attend scheduled SWAP meetings. Work closely and effectively with fellow SWAP members. Work as a student leader in promoting SWAP events and providing accurate information to students. Work productively and cooperatively with all members of the University community to effectively implement the SWAP events. Perform any additional duties as assigned by the Director of New Student Programs SWAP ambassador applicants must have attended one (1) full semester at the University of Missouri-St. Louis (minimum 12 credit hours) and have at least a minimum of a 2.25 overall cumulative grade point average at the time of application.
