OLD WAVERLY INVITATIONAL APRIL 9-10 Old Waverly s Annual Invitational is back for another great year. This event is open to any amateur. This is a great way to test your skills through two days of tournament golf. Make plans to stop by today to see these new arrivals!! WIYGUL CUP RESULTS The Waverly team headed south back in January for its annual home and home matches with Fort Lauderdale Country Club. Team Waverly put up a great fight but fell a little short of the crown after the event was shortened to a two day event. We are convinced that the Lauderdale team did a rain dance on Thursday night. In any case, it was a great week with great fellowship!! Thanks to all of our team that participated. We will be back home September 13. Shop Fore Seasons! 5 RULES & REMINDERS This is an excerpt from the Old Waverly Rules and Regulations. Position on the golf course must be maintained except when allowing faster groups to play through. All golfers are to maintain a reasonable rate of play. When unable to do so for any reason, they must give way to faster players and not resume play until play is caught up. Our expected pace of play is four (4) hours when carts are allowed on the golf course. Here are a few tips to help you stay on pace. 1. Be aware of your pace. Know what time you tee off and what time you make the turn. If it takes more than two hours per nine, speed up. 2. Choose the correct tees. Play it forward. 3. Play ready golf. FAULT FIXER NO MORE PULLS! A pre-putt stretch for perfect strikes Setting up incorrectly with your body slumped forward like a sick, listing sunflower not only stresses your back, it causes you to pull putts. How? Slouching at address moves your upper body closer to the ball, which automatically forces the toe of the putter to rise off the ground and point to the left (near photo, right). File this under avoidable mistakes, because putting with perfect posture is easy copy the moves at right. You don t even need to practice them. Simply add them to your pre-putt routine and you'll be set. STEP 1 Get into your regular putting stance (you know, the slouched look, as in above). STEP 2 Holding the putter in your left hand only, lift your arms and pull your shoulder blades together. STEP 3 Sole the putter on the ground and add your right hand. Bam! Perfect and pain-free posture.
