1 LLF School of English Introduction: The London Language Foundation was formed in April 2014 and is accredited by the British Council for the teaching of English. LLF is also listed with Trinity and Erasmus. LLF is conveniently located at Limehouse Lock (London E14), near Limehouse station, and with an attractive marina opposite our centre. The London Language Foundation's Philosophy The London Language Foundation (LLF), located at Limehouse, East London, is a not-forprofit organisation, which gives an indication of our philosophy and mission. We are dedicated to providing a language service which will enhance the lives of individuals wishing to develop their English language skills. Students come from all backgrounds and nationalities and are united in the multicultural city of London through a common goal to improve their English. We offer a range of English Language courses to a variety of student groups or individuals. LLF are pleased to offer our students the chance to improve their language skills for social, business or academic purposes. 2 Index of EFL Courses: All LLF students are level tested prior to being allocated to a class. We use the Oxford university level test. Receive a certification and farewell party at the end of the course C6. English with Tourism and Hospitality (optional work placement and combination with Employability Skills) This programme is specifically designed by LLF to help candidates: 1. Improve general English- speaking, listening and writing 2. Understand vocabulary relevant to the Tourism and Hospitality industry 3. Improve general understanding of the industry 4. Enjoy trips to places of interest 5. Be involved in social and cultural events 6. Receive a certification and farewell party at the end of the course C7. Business English This programme is specifically designed by LLF to help candidates: 1. Expand and develop business vocabulary 2. Understand business practice, forms and etiquette 3. 5 C8. Executive English This programme is specially designed by LLF to help candidates: 1. Improve professional English language ability 2. Sharpen presentation and negotiation skills 3. Effectively communicate across cultures C9. Tailor made courses This programme is specially designed by LLF, in consultation with the student, to focus on the student s area of interest. Possible focuses could be: 1. Written English: editing and essay review. Ideal for university candidates 2. Intensive Grammar: phrasal verbs, conditionals, passive voice. Ideal for students who learnt English in informal settings and now wish to take their English to the next level. 3. Conversation classes: doctor s visits, opening a bank account. Ideal for students who wish to face everyday situations confidently. C10. Trinity This programme is a 4-week course, designed to help students prepare for the Trinity exams, which are approved for applications to UKVI for visas, Leave to Remain and British Citizenship. We encourage students to bring their own interests to the exams as it makes the assessments more relevant and enjoyable. 1. Exam preparation across all components of the exam: listening, writing, reading, speaking 2. Regular assessment of students progress 3. One to One (1-2-1) and This programme can be adapted by LLF, in consultation with the student, to work on the student s areas of weakness. It will also cover general English skills, such as: 1. 7 The LLF English Language Team. Tim Murari: (Principal) As principal and Director, Tim has 35 years of experience (both UK and international) in the management of independent schools and also substantial experience with UK government FEHE colleges. As principal he aims to maintain a positive learning experience for LLF students by building an experienced and motived team to ensure high quality services. Tim also has experience networking with examination and awarding bodies and in quality assurance on course delivery. Daniel Zattara: Daniel has over 5 years of commercial working experience in the UK and has been involved with The London Language Foundation since the launch of the language school in June Daniel is a key part of the office administration and marketing and holds the position of joint welfare officer at LLF with the suitable CPD on Safeguarding and Health and Safety in relation to the student s welfare at the college. Tsvete Originally born in Bulgaria, Tsveti graduated from university in her home country and has a Bachelor s degree in Science. Since graduating, she has moved to London, completed an Advanced Diploma course in Marketing, Communications and Advertising, and has been working in Education as an Admin and Membership Officer and was later promoted to Examinations Officer for The Organisation for Tourism and Hospitality Management. Ekaterina Ekaterina is DELTA qualified and holds an MA in ELT and Applied Linguistics; with over ten years teaching and course management experience in the field of English Language Training. Prior to joining The London Language Foundation, she has managed academic programmes in both further education colleges and independent institutions. Ekaterina also has experience in Language Assessment and the development of teaching materials and curriculum design. Ekaterina is passionate about education and is interested in second language acquisition, CPD and teacher training and development for the LLF team. Outside of work Ekaterina enjoys sports, music and travelling. pg. 7

8 Saul Saul is originally from Manchester and studied philosophy and a CELTA teaching qualification in Brighton before moving to Japan. He spent five years teaching in Japan and learning Japanese. The time he spent in that country taught him a lot about the rewards and challenges of learning a language in a native setting, as well as the joys of securing visas! He returned to Europe in late 2014 and has been teaching at The London Language Foundation since April. I try to make enjoyment the main focus of my teaching, believing that if you are having fun using all your new vocabulary and grammar you are much more likely to remember and use it! I look forward to meeting you all and enjoying learning together! Chuck Chuck is TEFL-certified and has a Bachelor s degree in Law from SOAS. He has six years of teaching experience in a variety of settings, such as ESOL, EFL, Business English, English for Construction, Academic English, English Language, English Literature, 11+, KS3, GCSE, and A-level. A writer, he brings creativity and enthusiasm to his classes no matter the level or experience of his students. Chuck has been with LLF since September 2015, and outside of teaching he enjoys reading, traveling, and keeping in shape. I Imogen Imogen is TEFL-certified and has a Bachelor s degree in Linguistics and International Relations. She has six years of experience teaching English as a Second Language and spent the last two years in Chile working as an academic coordinator and teacher. During this time, she taught IELTS prep, business and tourism English. Previously, she studied and worked in Minnesota, USA, running employment workshops at a refugee resettlement settlement. She moved to London in 2015 and began teaching at LLF in spring In the autumn, she will be dividing her time between LLF and an MSc at SOAS. Sue Sue is CELTA qualified and also has a Diploma in NLP. She is experienced in dealing with welfare issues for people of all ages. She has worked in the charity sector for over 10 years, working with unpaid carers, people with dementia, people with mental health problems and young people in schools. She has worked as an NVQ Assessor in Business Administration and worked for over 10 years as a Trainer for Sun Alliance Insurance Company. She started her career as a Schools Careers Officer, giving careers guidance and counselling to students. pg. 8

9 Fiona Fiona has had a career in education and management spanning thirty years. She has worked in local government and in colleges and universities in both the public and private sector. In addition, to a Sociology degree, she has a Master s of Education qualification for which she specialised in English Language Teaching and Educational Management. Darius Darius is a CELTA-qualified EFL teacher hailing from Berkshire. He enjoys helping students to improve their English skills, and strives to make lessons enjoyable and interesting. Darius has a degree in Civil Engineering, and had a career as a professional software tester working in both the state and private sectors. His outside interests include hiking, fitness training, music and literature. Quality Check: We have selected a team of experienced administrators and tutors to deliver a service that we aim to be above average. All LLF team members are DBS and qualification checked and are allocated CPD on a regular basis.
