3 CONTEMPORARY CONTEXTS FOUNDATION DIPLOMA Our Intensive one year Foundation programme provides you with an introduction to the travel, tourism and hospitality sectors, enabling you to gain a clear understanding of critical operations within these industries. This is an introductory programme, well suited to school leavers or those looking to progress onto more advanced studies at HND or Degree level. It will cover key business disciplines that help shape these exciting sectors including marketing and project management. Research, Recording and Responding Preparation and Progression Contexts Investigating the Travel and Tourism Sector The Hospitality Industry Introduction to Marketing Business Project Management Final Project Three GCSE passes (C or above) / One A-Level (Grade E or above), or Advanced GCE in Applied Art and Design / AS GCE in Art and Design 16 Years English Proficiency: IELTS 5.0 or equivalent For mature students with few or no formal qualifications must apply with details of age, work experience, including any voluntary work and any other relevant experience gained since leaving school; or a portfolio of work relevant to the area of study. 4 OTHM LEVEL 4 DIPLOMA IN TOURISM AND HOSPITALITY MANAGEMENT (WITH WORK PLACEMENT) Tourism is a growth area and there are many exciting opportunities in managing and developing tourism and hospitality businesses. The cultural dynamic of this industry makes the study of tourism and hospitality, both exciting and important, beyond treating it as a business function. OTHM qualifications give you the knowledge that you will need to build a career in Tourism and Hospitality, in related sectors such as food and beverage, hotels, tour operations, airlines or in any other part of the Industry. The OTHM Level 4 in Tourism and Hospitality Management opens-up a range of opportunities to gain operational training in preparation for team leadership. The curriculum is embedded with diverse disciplinary topics, encompassing aesthetics, finance, business environment, events management and customer care. It aims to provide industry knowledge and practical working experience which will contribute to the project assessment. We will accept an English level of IELTS 5.0 on the condition that you will be required to take a pre-sessional English course. Strong links with OTHM and businesses will help with the placement of students within the Tourism & Hospitality Industries, which is one of the fastest expanding worldwide. This highly vocational course aims to develop the indispensable business skills you will need when going on to positions within major tourism companies, tourism development bodies and local authorities. There are also opportunities in regional and national government in the UK and overseas. 6 OTHM LEVEL 6 DIPLOMA IN TOURISM AND HOSPITALITY MANAGEMENT (WITH WORK PLACEMENT) This programme provides you with background knowledge of essential concepts and ideas in the Tourism and Hospitality industries and real-world developmental approaches encouraging you to think critically and aiding in your ability to express yourself clearly to all audiences. The focus of this level 6 programme is on the managerial skills, decision making and leadership aspects of the global Tourism and Hospitality industry. 7 OTHM LEVEL 7 DIPLOMA IN TOURISM AND HOSPITALITY MANAGEMENT (WITH WORK PLACEMENT) The OTHM Level 7 Diploma prepares students for senior management within the Tourism and Hospitality industry. The continued growth of this industry has brought about an increasing need for flexible and skilled managers able to operate at all levels. The course is designed to cater for local and international professionals within the industry who wish to gain the necessary qualifications and theoretical awareness to advance their careers in operations. It will also appeal to recent graduates who wish to acquire the specialist knowledge and qualifications necessary to manage tourism and hospitality operations at a middle or senior management level and consultancy work.
