5 Keynote Speakers Fr. Patrick Kelly, SJ, is Associate Professor of Theology and Religious Studies at Seattle University. He teaches courses about the history of sport and sport as it relates to human development and spirituality and also lectures nationally and internationally on these topics. He is the author of Catholic Perspectives on Sports: From Medieval to Modern Times (Paulist, 2012), and the editor of Youth Sport and Spirituality: Catholic Perspectives (The University of Notre Dame Press, 2015). He was the captain of a conference champion football team at Grand Valley State University, an All-Conference free safety and has coached at the high school and college levels. He is currently the Chair of the Intercollegiate Athletic Oversight Committee of the Board of Trustees, Seattle University. W. Miller Brown is Professor of Philosophy at Trinity College, located in Hartford, CT. Professor Brown graduated from Amherst College in 1958 and spent the following year in Paris as a Rotary Fellow. He received a certificat d'etudes superieures from the University of Paris in In 1970 he received his Ph.D. in philosophy from Harvard University. Prior to coming to Trinity he was a lecturer in French at Boston University and a teaching fellow in general education (natural sciences) at Harvard. From January 1999, to July 2004, he was Dean of the Faculty at Trinity, the college's chief academic officer. He is a former president of the International Association for the Philosophy of Sport and serves on the editorial board of its journal. He is now back in the Philosophy Department where he is happy to be.
