I mmaculate Conception CETH 6105 Fundamental Moral Theology Dates: Mondays Time: 8:30 10:30 a.m. Courtesy of: Professor: Justin M. Anderson, Ph.D. Course Description: This course will allow students to examine the central characteristics of Roman Catholic moral theology. Students will understand how the discipline unifies Scripture, tradition, the magisterium, human experience and reason, the universal desire for happiness, and the realities of sin and grace to express the dynamics of the Christian moral life conceived as a dialogic response to the gracious initiatives of God and ultimately as an act of worship that finds its source and summit in the Eucharist sacrifice. Justin M. Anderson, Ph.D., Assistant Professor of Christian Ethics, earned both his Ph.D. and M.Phil. from the Hoger Instituut voor Wijsbegeerte at Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (Louvain). Professor Anderson's current research focuses on Aquinas's conception of virtue, its relation to grace and the role it plays in Aquinas's overall moral science. Related to this is the impact such conceptions have on how Aquinas's moral thought has been read and understood since the Second Vatican Council. Professor Anderson is a member of Centre de Hautes Études et de Recherches sur Thomas D'Aquin and the American Philosophical Association. His classes include Fundamental Moral Theology, The Ethics of Virtue and Catholic Social Teaching.
I mmaculate Conception CETH 6205 Health Care Ethics Dates: Mondays Time: 8:30 10:30 a.m. Courtesy of: Professor: Rev. W. Jerome Bracken, C.P., Ph.D. Course Description: In this course, students will develop skills in using Catholic Church teaching and Natural Law argumentation by examining the concepts of health, the human person, personal and social responsibility, confidentiality, reproductive technologies, abortion, medical research, experimentation, transplants, psychotherapy, addiction, suicide, euthanasia, and care of the disabled, those with AIDS and the dying. Rev. W. Jerome Bracken, C.P., Ph.D., Associate Professor of Moral Theology, earned a Ph.D. in Systematic Theology from Fordham University and his courses include Health Care Ethics, Catholic Sexual Teaching and Ministry of Healing. His articles have appeared in The Angelicum, The Cusan, The Ecumenist, The Passionist, The Thomist, and The Linacre Quarterly.
I mmaculate Conception CETH/STHO 6252 & PTHO 6224 Theology of the Body Dates: Thursdays Time: 7-9 pm Courtesy of: Professor: David Hajduk, M.A. Course Description: This course will provide students with an opportunity to examine in depth the Theology of the Body as presented by Pope John Paul II, through a close reading of John Paul's own words and consideration of commentary from within the Catholic theological community. It will also enable students to explore the theological and pastoral implications of the Theology of the Body for sexual ethics, the sacramentality of marriage, and celibacy. David Hajduk M.A., has over twenty years of experience in religious education, youth ministry, and family life ministry. He received his MA in Systematic Theology from Immaculate Conception in South Orange, New Jersey and is presently working on his Ph.D. with the Maryvale Ecclesiastical Institute in Birmingham, England.
I mmaculate Conception CETH 6306 Catholic Sexual Teaching Dates: Tuesdays Time: 8:30 10:30 a.m. Courtesy of: Professor: Rev. W. Through their findings, students will develop an appreciation of the Catholic view of human sexuality. Topics that will be covered in this course are chastity, friendship, spousal love, procreation, temperance, natural family planning, extramarital sex, masturbation, homosexuality, and birth control. Rev.

The application of these principles are aimed towards family, work, economic systems, and political orders. An examination of how local churches and parishes can become effective instruments in bringing about God s reign of peace and justice will be made as well. Justin M. Anderson, Ph.D., Assistant Professor of Christian Ethics, earned both his Ph.D. and M.Phil. from the Hoger Instituut voor Wijsbegeerte at Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (Louvain).
