1 You Can Make a Positive Impact on a Young Child By Supporting Seeing a Bright Future in Children Mission: Buena Vista Children s Services, Inc. is a grassroots, community-based, nonprofit organization that designs, develops, and implements model programs for children, parents and educators. Programs address emerging needs in the areas of child care, Child Abuse Prevention, Early Childhood Education, parenting, resource and referral. 2 Our Programs In partnership with Verde Valley Medical Center (VVMC) since 2005, BVCS has provided quality child care (ages 0-12) to the public and to VVMC employees at a special discounted rate. Bright Futures Child Care is a BVCS Corporate Sponsored Child Care Site proudly sponsored by VVMC. Discovery Connection has been providing quality out of school time programs to children and youth in the Verde Valley since 2001, utilizing Howard Gardner s Multiple Intelligence Theory and BVCS s art-based curriculum integrated with After-School Standards. Programs administered at Clarkdale Jerome School and in Cottonwood at Bright Futures. Preschools In 2010, BVCS designed and implemented Buena Vista Preschool Curriculum aligned with Arizona Early Learning Standards. Quality, age appropriate preschool programming utilizes local public school curriculum including special needs and site specific inclusion for kindergarten readiness. In Good Hands Home Certification Project is a grant administered by AZ Department of Economic Security, Child Care Administration. BVCS recruits and provides technical assistance to potential as well as seasoned home child care providers in Yavapai County since 2000 and Navajo/Apache Counties since DES Home Child Care Certification Program The Child Abuse Prevention (CAP) Grant has been awarded to BVCS since 2001 for CAP Councils of the Yavapai, Verde Valley, Sedona, and Show Low Regions. The CAP grant is administered by AZ Department of Economic Security to raise awareness and Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect throughout Arizona. The Professional Development Training Program provides trainings, technical assistance, and support to caregivers and directors in Yavapai, Coconino, Navajo and Apache Counties. Training modules are based on various curriculums including but not limited to CSEFEL, PCAN and Directors Toolbox. The Buena Vista Children s Services Lending Library has hundreds of books and resources available free of charge to Early Childhood Educators, Community and Non Profit Leaders, Parents, Families, and all public. Resources vary from potty training to how to start your own non-profit. The Lending Library is located at our offices in Cottonwood.

3 Our Annual Events Early Childhood Education Conference Child Abuse Prevention Month Arizona on the Move Annually, the last Saturday of February Clarkdale Campus of Yavapai College The Annual Early Childhood Education Conference is a one day conference held at the Clarkdale Campus of Yavapai College. Early childhood educators, administrators and providers from across northern Arizona can earn continuing education credits and learn fun and interesting ways to improve the welfare and care of young children. The conference focuses on early childhood care and education, kindergarten to 3 rd grade care and education, special needs, advocacy, administration, health/safety and more. Conference at a Glance: 350 students and educators attend from central and northern AZ Showcase your products or services Publicity and advertising opportunities Hosted at the newly renovated Verde Campus of Yavapai College Professional Development and Networking Opportunities Children s Celebration Annually, the third Saturday of April Civic Center, Old Town Cottonwood Throughout the month of April, Buena Vista along with our business and community partners will educate people on ways to prevent child abuse and inform them of resources available in our area for children and families. A highlight of the month is the Children s Celebration, complete with games and activities for the kids, performances by local youth groups and display tables where companies or groups can promote their services to all attendees, while engaging attending children in a hands-on activities like games and art projects.
