JOB SUMMARY A Nuclear Medicine Advanced Associate (NMAA) is a Masters level and board certified professional that will serve as an allied health practitioner with specialization in all areas of Nuclear Medicine. The NMAA will work under the supervision of a licensed physician and serve as an adjunct between the physician and other health care professionals to enhance patient care in the diagnostic imaging and radiotherapy environments. The NMAA performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, guiding principles and mercy service standards.

Falls Other Yes Annual Yes Annual Annual Blood Glucose Pain Management Medication Organ Donation Conscious Sedation JOB RESPONSIBILITIES The NMAA has advanced training in imaging procedures with specialization in radiation safety, general nuclear medicine, SPECT, nuclear cardiology, and radiotherapy and all associated radiopharmaceuticals and adjunct pharmaceuticals therein. The following are primary job responsibilities: 1. Perform and document a comprehensive review of clinical information appropriate to training. 2. Ensure informed consent has been obtained. 3. Provide adjunctive and interventional medications that enhance diagnostic imaging and therapeutic procedures. 4. Educate/Counsel the patient and family concerning procedure to be performed. 5. Communicate effectively and demonstrate caring, respectful, and ethical behaviors when interacting with the patient, the family, physicians and other health care professionals. 6. Make informed decisions about diagnostic and therapeutic procedures under the direction of the supervising physician. 7. Gather and evaluate essential information, including correlative studies and arrange follow-up visits as necessary. 8. Report findings to the supervising physicians. 9. Provide indicated intervention per patient emergency event following departmental policies and practice standard. Notify the supervising physician immediately. 10. Monitor and supervise cardiac exercise or pharmacologic stress testing with or without associated diagnostic imaging procedures. 11. Assess imaging procedure for quality and obtain images as appropriate, recommend additional views as necessary.
4 12. Successfully complete Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification. 13. Performs all procedures utilizing ionizing radiation safely and effectively, applying federal, state, and institutional regulations, including but not limited to: Participating in programs designed to instruct other personnel about radiation hazards and principles of radiation safety. 14. The NMAA should actively participate in a practice-based improvement activities as well as facility quality assurance programs. They should be competent in overseeing compliance with all local, state, regional, and federal requirements for laboratory operations and accreditation, and provide education for technologists, students, and staff. Performs other work duties as assigned. RADIATION SAFETY An NMAA performs all procedures utilizing ionizing radiation safely and effectively, applying federal, state, and institutional regulations, including but not limited to: 1. Maintaining compliance with all applicable regulations. 2. Performing appropriate radioactive contamination monitoring and decontamination procedures. 3. Disposing of radioactive waste in accordance with federal, state and institutional regulations. 4. Participating in programs designed to instruct other personnel about radiation hazards and principles of radiation safety. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Required Preferred Education: Masters Imaging Science w/ conc. In Nuclear Medicine. Graduation from an Accredited NMAA program. Licensure: TBA (currently being submitted) Experience: 7 years of previous experience as CNMT in all aspects of Nuclear Medicine, with experience in ECGs, some experience with contrast agent usage in x- ray, C.T., MRI, and US/Echo. Familiar with NRC regulations and accreditation agencies rules. Experiences in Preceptorships by at least 2 preceptors during NMAA internship, 7 years of previous experience as CNMT in all aspects of Nuclear Medicine. Experience in general radiologic imaging. Experience w/ ECGs, contrast agent usage in x-ray, C.T., MRI, and US/Echo. Well Versed in NRC regulations and accreditation agencies rules. Experiences
