12 BESPOKE TRAINING case study The client The client a professional body regulator responsible for setting the education and training requirements for entrants to the profession. The context The client relies on a very small pool of question writers and examiners to set question papers for their postgraduate assessments. The current system has left the client with a limited choice of questions for future exam papers and has highlighted the need for the client to be able to provide guidance and feedback on question writers work. [The training] confirmed and consolidated my existing knowledge and added some very useful new knowledge. I can put what I have learned into practice immediately. Training participant The objective To equip the client s question writers with the knowledge and skills to enable them to write good quality multiple choice questions (MCQs), short answer questions (SAQs) and associated mark schemes. The solution A customised one-day training course for the client s writers and examiners on question writing, best practice in MCQs and SAQs and associated mark scheme design.
