2 2016 NAGCAS Conference - Call for Conference Abstracts The National Association of Graduate Career Advisory Services (NAGCAS) invites you to participate in the 2016 NAGCAS Conference Careers Evolution or Revolution: Vision Inspiration Inclusion The 36 th NAGCAS Annual Conference Careers Evolution or Revolution: Vision Inspiration Inclusion will be hosted at the University of Adelaide from Monday, 28 th to Wednesday, 30 th November, Join career and employability professionals from across Australia and beyond in Adelaide s cultural boulevard precinct. Be inspired by powerful thought leaders ready to engage, prepare and change us for where we are going next. Join the collective expertise and warm collegiality that awaits you at NAGCAS Call for Conference Abstracts On behalf of the Conference Management Committee, we would like to invite career practitioners and other stakeholders to submit abstracts related to the conference theme, Careers Evolution or Revolution: Vision Inspiration Inclusion. The conference organisers invite dynamic, forward focused presenters who can ignite informed discussion and bring expertise in one or more of the following thematic areas: Insights from Outside the Box: Lessons learned from other industries Tools of the Trade: Professional Development for Career practitioners Inclusiveness in Practice: Social Inclusion in Careers Citizens of the World: Perspectives on Connecting in a Global Marketplace 2

3 2016 NAGCAS Conference Call for Conference Abstracts Types of Abstracts The Conference Committee is seeking Expressions of Interest for the conduct of presentations in one of the following categories: Concurrent Paper or Case Study Non Refereed Presentation with powerpoint / other presentation graphics package only 1. Concurrent Paper or Case Study Non Refereed Concurrent Conference Paper Abstracts for oral presentation are invited. Authors wishing to produce a paper based on the submitted abstract, will have these papers published on the NAGCAS website as soon as possible following the Conference. 2. Presentation with PowerPoint Only While it is not mandatory for presenters to submit a full Conference paper, it is a requirement that all presenters provide a PowerPoint, or other documentation to be published on the NAGCAS website as soon as possible following the Conference. The format of the concurrent presentations will be as follows: Standard presentation 40 minutes (30 minutes plus 10 minutes discussion time) Short presentation 20 minutes (15 minutes plus 5 minutes discussion time) Conference Structure The Conference will be structured as follows: Pre Conference NAGCAS National Committee Meetings, 26 th 27 th November, 2016 Pre Conference Morning Masterclass Sessions Monday 28 th November Conference 12:00pm Monday, 28 th to Wednesday, 30 th November, 2016 Social Function Welcome Reception on Monday, 28 th November, 2016 Social Function Conference Gala Dinner on Tuesday, 29 th November, 2016 Post Conference Site Visits on Thursday, 1 st December, 2016 Important Dates Abstracts Due Friday, 13 th May, 2016 First Stage Acceptances Notified Friday, 27 th May, 2016 Early Bird Registration Closes Wednesday, 17 th August, 2016 Conference Presentations Due Monday, 7 th November, 2016 Online Registration Closes Tuesday, 22 nd November, 2016 Abstract Guidelines and Restrictions Abstract Submission Guidelines The following guidelines apply for the submission of abstracts for all papers. 3

4 2016 NAGCAS Conference Call for Conference Abstracts Only submissions related to the Conference themes will be considered. Abstracts should be no more than 450 words in length. Submissions must include a presenter biography of no more than up to 150 words. ALL ABSTRACTS ARE TO BE SUBMITTED ONLINE THROUGH THE CONFERENCE WEBSITE AT Abstracts should be submitted no later than Friday, 13 th May, 2016 Shortlisted abstracts may be required to submit a one minute video presentation before the submission can be confirmed. The Conference Committee reserves the right to accept or reject any submissions. All confirmed presenters are required to register for the Conference for at least the day of their presentation, in which case a day rate will apply. Note: Abstracts submitted for presentation will be published exactly as received and should be checked for spelling and grammar prior to submission (submission of an abstract implies the author/s agreement to the publishing of the abstract in the Conference Program and Proceedings). Notification You will be notified of the outcomes of your abstract submission by Friday, 27 th May, Details of scheduling and instructions for presentation will be finalised by June 7 th, 2016 Final Paper/ PowerPoint Guidelines and Restrictions It is a requirement of participation that all conference oral presenters submit a Paper, PowerPoint or other document to be included on the NAGCAS Website following the completion of the 2016 Conference. For those presenters wishing to submit a full Conference paper, submissions must be in English, and must be formatted for printing, double spaced, and single sided. For those presenters submitting a PowerPoint Presentation only, all presentations must be provided to the Conference Organisers by Monday, 7 th November, Please note that the Conference Organisers and/or Program Committee will communicate only with the 'first author' of an abstract. In the case of co authored presentations it will be the responsibility of the 'first author' to forward communications to the co author/s. Publication Style (for presenters submitting Conference Papers) The Oxford English Dictionary is the journal's standard for spelling. Documents are to be submitted in Microsoft Word. No PDF documents will be accepted. Any graphics included in the document are to be separately attached as jpeg files. No headers and footers are to be used. Substantial quotations should be indented without quotation marks. Other quotations should be enclosed by single quotation marks. Double quotation marks should be used only as innermost quotation marks within single quotation marks, or where necessary to ensure fidelity to another's work. Published works referred to in the text should be in parentheses containing author, date (and page number(s) if necessary). References should follow the format and style described in The Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (6 th ed.). Copyright rests with author/s. 4
