These projects are an initiative of the Greensboro Chamber of Commerce's Leadership Greensboro program. Leadership Greensboro is a nine-month (September - May) leadership development program that: educates class participants (up to 45) about the local Greensboro community enhances leadership skills provides participants the opportunity to serve a community organization through community learning projects The Leadership Greensboro Class 2016 will: begin in September 2015 meet once a month for 1 to 2 day sessions choose their Community Learning Projects preferences in October (note: some projects will not be selected) divide into groups of 4-6 class members per their project selections work on the projects from December May 2016 (graduation) The timeline for RFP submission and decisions is as follows: Request for Proposals (RFP) Distribution Date: Begins Friday, 7/17/2015 Community Learning Projects Application due: Friday, 8/21/2015 Decision Notification: Wednesday, 11/11/15 Community Sponsor / Leadership Greensboro Project Team Meeting Tuesday, 12/08/15 - to officially start the project work-plan (required attendance) Meeting details TBD The Greensboro Chamber of Commerce, the Leadership Greensboro Class 2016, and the Leadership Greensboro Advisory Board, welcome the opportunity to positively impact our community and possibly your organization through this year's collaborative efforts. 2 Community Learning Project Application Guidelines The Community Learning Project Applications will be selected from the following categories this year: Collaborative Efforts benefitting our Community-at-Large Economic Impact, Economic Development & Entrepreneurial Growth Educational and Advancement Institutions Non-profit Organizations Note: An organization may submit a proposal in more than 1 category. Organizations are not required to be a 501c3 to submit an application, however they must be established for more than 2 years, have staff and/or lead volunteers to commit as a sponsor to work with the LG group and some or all the work that you do is community related, focusing on capacity building for Greensboro people, places and ideas. Projects should: Encourage the participants to exercise their leadership and teambuilding skills Allow teams to leave a tangible contribution to the community Address a true and/or unmet need within the larger vision of the organization Fall within the budget parameters of the sponsoring organization (we recognize that some projects do not have costs other than staff time associated with them) Include an upfront commitment to do something with the developed information before submitting RFPs Each Leadership Greensboro participant is required to participate in a Community Learning Project. Participants are asked to work 3-4 hours a week on their project. Because of this high level of commitment, Leadership Greensboro is committed to providing class participants with projects that have equally committed sponsors. Applying organizations should be willing and able to designate a staff member to work with the project team. A good sponsor should: Assume a leadership/advisory role in the project Provide clear vision of their needs Give consistent feedback to the project team Be willing to dedicate the time necessary to ensure the project s success To download a copy of the application, go to Greensboro Chamber website: Link to Form If filling this application out electronically, you may include additional pages to complete all responses, if needed. 5 1. Organizational Sponsor: Who in your organization will have overall responsibility for this Project? How much time per week will that person be willing to commit to working with the LG Project Team? 2. The Need: Describe the need and/or unmet need to which this Project will respond. Please be factual and include in this description any data or other information that will document the need. Include measurables when applicable. 3. Project Description: Describe the Project and how it will improve your organization and respond to the need. 4. Project Work Plan: List the specific activities you believe are required to complete the Project, including who from your organization will be responsible for working with the LG team on each activity. (The work plan may change as determined necessary by the LG Project Team and the sponsor leadership.)

6 5. Community Partnering/Collaborations: Describe any prior or current collaboration with community partners to address this need. (Include data if this has been selected as an LG project previously) Will collaboration with community partners be a part of this proposed Project? Which organization(s)/businesses/civic groups? 6. Project Timetable: Prepare a timetable for required completion of this Project. Use a separate spreadsheet to prepare the timetable. (please attach) 7. Additional Information: Provide any additional information that will provide further details to the scope of the proposed project/program. Note: Additional pages may be used to answer the questions. Please make sure that additional pages are cross referenced correctly. A representative from the Leadership Greensboro Advisory Board may follow-up with you after receiving your completed proposal with additional questions.
