2 Treasury Analyst Working at TSB Bank Established in 1860, TSB Bank is a 100% New Zealand owned and operated bank. With its head office located in New Plymouth, the Bank s nationwide network of offices and its TSB Bank Direct call centre service over 150,000 customers across the country (and around the world). Reports to: Department: Location: Direct Reports: Discretionary Authority: Treasury Manager Financial Services New Plymouth N/A TBC Position Summary The Role The purpose of this role is to provide Treasury and Balance Sheet analysis to key internal stakeholders, including the ALCO, the CFO and the Treasurer. The Treasury Analyst will also provide front-office support for Treasury, including booking Treasury deals, reconciliations and reporting. The role reports to the Treasurer. Being part of a small financial team requires you to have a functional relationship and direct contact with Executive Management and Branch and Divisional Managers. Specifically, you will be responsible for: Treasury Reporting and Analysis Preparation of daily Treasury reports, including; o Operational Balance Sheet Report o Investment Portfolio Limit Compliance o RBNZ Liquidity Reporting o Wholesale Interest Rates reports Preparation of the monthly ALCO reporting pack Assist with the preparation of any reports for the Bank s Risk Committee or Board of Directors Derive Market Risk exposure for Capital Adequacy Front-Office Tasks Booking deals in the Treasury front-office system (Unibanks/V-Treas)
3 System administration including updating of static data Documentation of Treasury procedures Maintenance of deal records (soft-copy and hard-copy). Securitisation Reporting and Analysis Monthly reporting for the Bank s internal Securitisation programme Review of payment distribution, payment shock Monitor the quality of loans, buying/selling loans to keep the loan pool at required level. Database management. Maintenance of the Treasury SQL database, including updating balance sheet data tables and static data. Other Management Reporting Preparation of monthly lending reports Development of additional management reports as required Liability Management Preparation of Pricing Committee reports including competitor rates comparison Manage rate negotiations for Term Deposits (including checking booked rates against special rates schedule) Ad-Hoc Analysis and Projects Treasury/Balance Sheet analysis tasks as required, typically utilising Tableau/Treasury Database. Assisting other members of the Finance team and the Chief Financial Officer with tasks as requested. Working with other business units to improve understanding of the Treasury function. Required Skills and Experience A bachelor s degree in Business (eg Accounting or Finance). Extensive knowledge of financial products Excellent with Microsoft Excel preferably including knowledge of VBA and SQL Communication - report writing and presentation skills Superior data analysis capability - database management, mining and interpretation Technically strong, gained through experience within a financial services organisation Experience with in-house accounting and other IT systems

People Skills Role is very much around partnering with the business unit managers. You will need to be able to manage multiple stakeholders and build relationships with people across a wide diversity of personalities as you will be providing support to non-finance people, helping to analyse their month end financials and working with them to ensure they understand their profit centres. Communication Skills Possess strong verbal and written communication skills. You will be able to communicate clearly and concisely with finance and non-finance people and to explain reasoning behind your opinion. Initiative You are a self-starter who has an inquisitive mind to help identify areas for improvement and efficiency. You accept additional challenges and willingly assist others. Problem Analysis You have an eye for detail with the ability to detect trends and anomalies in the numbers and then communicate this clearly. You take ownership of a problem and see it through to resolution, asking for input where necessary and making decisions within your discretion.
