2 Dear Parents and Kids! Bowbrook House Summer School is now entering its 28 th summer season The scheme is designed to offer a quality experience where each child is given time, space and opportunity. The age range of 4 12 years of age and limited group sizes means we can continue to offer a challenging and fun packed week in a safe and secure environment. As in previous years, safety is very much our prime concern. I will again call on experienced staff and students whom I know and trust to enthuse the children, to challenge the children and who of course will take care of the children. Bowbrook House School has been inspected by the Independent Schools Inspectorate and as Headmaster I am a member of the Independent Schools Association. With numbers limited to 40 students per week, which is up to 200 children attending every year, we are very proud of our safety record but are not complacent. When comparing our course to other schemes be sure to compare the range of activities that we offer, the small group sizes (typically children on any activity) that afford your child maximum activity and involvement, the small numbers on the course (40 per week in 3 or 4 groups) which make it a more personal experience and the professional nature and experience of our staff as well as our comprehensive insurance. I think you will agree that the camps are extremely good value for money! I can assure you as parents that my thirty years experience in the activity holiday business means that we have formulated an all round programme within the safe confines of the school grounds that is exciting, challenging, at times educational but most of all fun! Bowbrook House School is a Georgian house situated in the centre of the village of Peopleton near Pershore in 14 acres of its own immaculate grounds. The school is in the heart of the rural Worcestershire countryside and yet only ten minutes from junction seven of the M5 motorway and the heart of the City of Worcester. The school s facilities include a small hall, tennis courts, basketball and netball courts, 2 adventure playgrounds, an outdoor swimming pool and of course 14 acres of playing fields.

3 The activities. (Great fun!) Your child will need to choose his or her Top 10 activities. These, together with the most popular choices of the rest of their group will form the weekly timetable. We guarantee a minimum of 5 first choice activities, though in reality it is usually 8, 9, or even all ten of your chosen list. 1. Archery*. 2. Art. 3. Athletics. 4. Aerobics. 5. Badge making. 6. Swimming. 30. Tennis. 31. Treasure hunt. 32. Uni-hockey. 33. Volleyball. * limited 9-12 yrs The courses run from Monday to Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day. Staff are on site from 8:45 a.m. until the last child is picked up in the evening. The children experience up to 5 activities each day plus lunchtime games. A daily rate is available but the course is aimed at a full weeks structured programme culminating with our own version of a very messy sports afternoon. Drinks and biscuits are given mid- morning and mid-afternoon, but the children will need to bring their own packed lunches. The children are in small groups of a similar age. The total number on camp each week is strictly limited. The aim is maximum participation (and supervision.) All equipment is provided but the children will need to bring appropriate clothing for an activity holiday. Swimwear and armbands if appropriate should be brought everyday and for afterwards, even in summer, a jumper or tracksuit top for afterwards. Please make sure all clothes are labelled with your child s name. If clothing is not labelled it makes it extremely hard to return it to the owner! Staff with first aid qualifications are on hand at all times. Activities are pitched at a level suitable for the age and ability of the children concerned. Our staff are enthusiastic, caring and able to make all children feel welcome and able to participate at their own level. THE FEES. Please note the age range of 4 12 years of age. i.e. Reception to Year 7 s 5 Days: Standard rate (per child.) 100. Reduced rate (per child.) 90. Daily rate (per child.) 25. Reduced rate applies to: 1) Anyone who books a child on for more than two whole weeks. Or: 2) If more than two children book for a whole week from the same family. (This does not apply to friends sharing a booking form.) Please do not ask for preferential treatment or extra reduced rates as refusal can give rise to offence! Holiday insurance: is included under the schools general insurances. Final payments: Due 1 week before camp commences. If booking after this please enclose full payment. 5 PAYMENT FORM: Confirmation of your booking will follow on receipt of your booking and payment forms and 25 deposit- per child- per week. If you are booking parts of a week or single days then please forward the full amount with your booking form. Thank you. If you are booking with less than one week to your chosen course dates then please forward full amount with your booking form. You are advised to check availability before sending in a booking form. We are operating a reduced number of weeks this year due to my increased commitments to the school. This will inevitably lead to places being filled earlier. Group sizes are strictly monitored to give maximum participation and personal attention. We will not stretch group sizes, nor exceed our maximum numbers. Please do not ask for preferential treatment as refusal often offends. My advice is to book early to avoid disappointment! Please remember insurance for the summer school is now included in the school s general insurances with HSBC and so does not necessitate an extra payment. 6 Booking conditions: 1. Confirmation of your booking will follow receipt of your booking form and a 25 deposit per child per week. Payment of the deposit is regarded as evidence of your acceptance of these booking conditions. 2. If you cancel your booking, you must notify us in writing immediately. Until written notice is received by us we will hold your reservation. Cancellations are subject to the following charges: More than 28 days loss of deposit only days before commencement date- 60% of total holiday price 14-1 days before commencement date 100% of total holiday price. 3. No liability will be accepted for personal injury or the death of any participant, nor for any damage or loss resulting there from unless caused by the proven negligence of Bowbrook House Summer School employees and/or agents acting within the course of their employment or the scope of their authority. 4. Programmes are subject to alteration and rearrangement in the event of unsuitable weather conditions or other factors which may arise which are beyond our reasonable control. 5. We reserve the right to exclude or refuse any child at any time, prior to and during the holiday, if in our opinion that child is incompatible with the general well being. Any additional costs involved as a result of such exclusion/refusal, including transportation home, will be at the parent s expense and responsibility and no refund will be made. Holiday Insurance: The school has arranged for the activities and business of the summer school to be included under the school s general insurances with HSBC and this is no longer an additional extra. Lost Property: Please make sure all clothes are labelled with your child s name. If clothing is not labelled it makes it extremely hard to return it to the owner! Lost property will only be held by the school for four weeks after the last day of the summer school. After this period remaining articles will be given to a suitable charity. Suitable Clothing; Each child should suitable protective clothing for art and craft e.g. an apron or old art shirt. Bowbrook House summer School cannot take any responsibility for articles of clothing affected by participation in multi activities. New clothes should not be worn during attendance.
