3 DRIVING GROWTH Demystifying vehicle finance Demystifying VEHICLE FINANCE Dealers, manufacturers, banks, brokers and leasing companies all offer vehicle finance. This guide outlines the options available to help you choose what's best for you and your business. Business contract hire Contract Hire is the industry term for Leasing. It s really just a long-term rental agreement. We buy the car from the manufacturer and lease it to you, usually for three or four years. Business Contract Hire is the most popular method for financing business company cars. Low upfront costs Minimal deposit and lower monthly costs mean many people can upgrade their vehicle choice. Hassle-free Servicing, maintenance, road tax, tyres and breakdown cover can all be included in the agreement. For business customers who can recover VAT, you can recover 50% of the VAT on monthly finance rentals on company cars and there is up to 100% on vans. No residual value risk We take the risk on the resale of the vehicle so you don't have to worry about selling the vehicle and achieving your anticipated sale price. Flexible We provide flexible contracts, terms and mileage options to suit your business needs. Fixed costs Fixed monthly rentals allow you to manage costs more effectively. PERSONAL CONTRACT HIRE In principle, Personal Contract Hire is the same as Business Contract Hire, apart from VAT. It offers fixed-cost hassle-free motoring for individuals and is arranged as a personal lease rather than through the business. For that reason there is no (assuming the individual is not VAT registered). However, all the other benefits of leasing remain. A range of additional services can be added, including Fleet Management, Accident Services and Duty of Care. For further information, take a look at our website: leasing4business.co.uk CONTRACT PURCHASE Contract Purchase offers fixed monthly payments to help businesses manage their costs, enabling them to purchase the vehicle at the end of the contract by making a balloon payment or return it to the leasing company without further cost (subject to excess mileage and any end of contract damage). For VAT registered businesses, full VAT relief is available on commercial vehicles and is recoverable up front against the invoice price, although VAT is payable on the disposal value when returned to the leasing company or eventually sold. Capital allowance recovery Capital allowances are recoverable on the purchase price; in the case of commercial vehicles it is possible to use your Annual Investment Allowance of up to 200,000 from January FINANCE LEASE Finance Lease provides a flexible form of vehicle funding over an agreed term and mileage where you are happy to take the residual value risk on resale. Potential sale value You pay lease rentals to an estimated residual value at the end of the contract and benefit from any upside on sale compared with the predicted figure. However, if the resale value is less, then you will need to pay the lease provider the difference. No end of contract charges Finance Lease comes with optional fixed maintenance contracts. It has the same VAT benefits as Contract Hire, plus no charges at the end of the contract. It s possible to pay most of the finance rentals up front, which can accelerate and reduces interest payments. Flexible lease With a Flexible Lease the total price of the vehicle, including interest and costs, is charged back over an agreed period of time in the form of fixed monthly rentals. At the end of the contract, and following disposal of the vehicle, all sales proceeds (less fees) are returned to you. Flexible The flexibility comes from the fact that you can choose to continue using the vehicle at the end of the primary term for a nominal annual fee, act as our agent during the disposal to a 3rd party or simply ask us to collect the vehicle and arrange for disposal. The vehicle should be returned to us within the contracted mileage and in a condition that meets the BVRLA fair wear and tear guidelines otherwise charges may be incurred.
