Getting Started To start using Trend Micro Direct Pass, you need to do three things: 1. Download and install DirectPass on your computer, phone or tablet. 2. Sign into or create your Trend Micro account. 3. Create a Master Password to secure your DirectPass data. Then, just begin surfing, and DirectPass will save your passwords for you. After you set up DirectPass the first time, you can install it on another device and just provide your Master Password to make DirectPass sync everything. You can use your existing passwords, profile, and notes right away. 3
Trend Micro Account To use Trend Micro DirectPass, you need a Trend Micro account. Trend Micro uses your account to back up and synchronize your DirectPass data, and to reset DirectPass if you ever forget your Master Password. If you have purchased Trend Micro software before, then you should already have a Trend Micro account. If not, you need to create one when you first install and set up DirectPass. To access your Trend Micro account, visit the following website: From your Trend Micro account, you can download and manage all your Trend Micro software, access support information, see video how-to guides, and more. 4
Master Password Your Master Password can encrypt your passwords, profile, and notes, preventing others (even Trend Micro) from viewing your data. It also prevents others from accessing DirectPass when you are away from your computer. By using your Master Password to protect all your other passwords, you can create very strong passwords for all the websites you use without having to worry about memorizing each one. Trend Micro does not keep a copy of your Master Password and cannot help you retrieve it. If you forget your Master Password, you will lose all your saved DirectPass data. Master Password Requirements Your password must have between 6 and 20 characters. You must use a combination of at least two kinds of characters: Letters (A-Z, a-z,) Numbers (0-9) Symbols (?_!@#*-+/$%^&()={}[]\ "'?<>.,~`) The password system recognizes the difference between upper case letters and lower case letters. Your password may not include the following characters: Umlaut (Ä, ä, and others) or Asian language characters (such as Chinese, Korean, or Japanese characters) Shortcut keys, such as Ctrl+C or Ctrl+V 5
Import Passwords If Direct Pass detects that you have passwords saved in your web browsers, it will prompt you to import them. You can also import them yourself. To import passwords from your web browsers: 1. Click the DirectPass browser icon, and choose Import. 2. Select Remove passwords from browsers after import if you want to delete your passwords from your web browsers after importing them into DirectPass. 3. Click Start to begin importing the passwords. 4. When a confirmation message appears, click OK to close the window. Some browsers may prevent you from importing passwords until you close them. If DirectPass is cannot import from all your browsers, try closing the browser before importing. Open the DirectPass Main Console using the desktop icon, and choose Web Browser under Settings > Data Controls > Import. See Import passwords from other browsers for detailed instructions. Some browsers offer password protection. If you have protected your browser passwords with a password, you will have to remove the password protection before DirectPass can import them. 6
Using Direct Pass DirectPass makes a lot of the things you do online safer and easier. Safer Stronger Passwords Create different strong, random passwords for the websites you sign into using the password generator, so that nobody else can guess them. 8 Passwords The password list stores all of your website credentials. Use the passwords in your list like regular bookmarks, and DirectPass will sign you in automatically. Saving Passwords DirectPass will ask to save your website credentials for quick access whenever you sign into a website. When asked if you want to save your password for a given site, just click Save. The next time you visit that site, your credentials will be pre-filled for you. Adding a Second Website Account If you have more than one account for a website, you can save those credentials too: 1. Sign out of the website and return to the sign-in page for the site. 2. When DirectPass asks if you want to sign in again, choose Cancel to avoid signing in with the current account. 3. Type in the other credentials yourself. 4. The next time you go to the website, DirectPass will ask which account you want to use for signing in. Just pick the preferred account from the dropdown list. Editing Accounts Manually If you prefer to manage your accounts more directly, you can also edit the individual values within a passcard and modify the sign-in parameters. 8

DirectPass automatically saves what you type in the title and text boxes as you type. To create a second note, click the Add New button at the bottom of the note list. However, because HTTPS only secures the connection between your computer and your bank, Secure Browser includes additional security features. Hardened System By disabling any unnecessary browser add-ons or plug-ins, Secure Browser eliminates ways that your data could leak out. Keystroke Encryption By encrypting what you type, Secure Browser hides your confidential information from other parts of your computer system to block potential snooping by other software. Process Validation Secure Browser prevents unknown programs from accessing your web browser or monitoring data being sent though your computer. Warning Messages If Secure Browser cannot prevent an unknown process or DLL (dynamic-link library) from affecting your Secure Browser, a Suspicious Activity warning will appear. If that happens, you should run a full virus scan right away by visiting this website: 11

Editing the Note List To change the order of your notes, tap your tablet's Menu button and select Reorder. Drag the note to where you want it. Deleting a Note To remove a note, long tap the note you want to delete, and you will be asked if you want to delete the note. Tap Delete to remove the note. 48
Account Settings Account shows your Trend Micro account and expiry date (paid version only). It also includes the following options: Renew Now (paid version) Tap this to purchase a new subscription for DirectPass. You can buy at any time, and your subscription will be extended by the purchased license. Buy Now (free version) The free version is limited to use of five account passwords and five notes. To use more passwords or notes, tap Buy Now to purchase DirectPass. Enter Activation Code If you already have an Activation Code to upgrade or extend your subscription, enter it here. Unlink Account Unlinking your Trend Micro account will remove all your DirectPass data from your device. 49
Master Password Settings Use this setting to change your Master Password and choose when DirectPass prompts you for your Master Password. Changing You Master Password Because your Master Password is used to encrypt your data, changing it is somewhat different than changing a regular password. After you change your Master Password on one device, you will need to manually update your other devices; DirectPass cannot update your Master Password automatically. This is for your safety. See how Direct Pass secures your data. To Update Your Master Password on Other Devices 1. Type your OLD Master Password to unlock your device. 2. Sync your device: 3. If Auto Sync is turned on (the default setting), then the device will sync by itself after a short time. If Auto Sync is turned off, then tap Sync Now. When prompted, type your NEW Master Password. When your new Master Password is accepted, your device has been updated. Security Level Change when DirectPass asks for your Master Password: High requires your Master Password whenever you access the App Low require your Master Password only when launching the App after ending the process in the multi-tasking tray 50
Auto Sync Settings This setting lets you decide how DirectPass syncs your data with the Trend Micro cloud. Enable to ensure you data is always up to date and backed up Disable to conserve bandwidth and data charges 51
How DirectPass Secures Your Data DirectPass uses 256-bit encryption to secure your data, and make sure nobody without your Master Password is able to read it-including Trend Micro. So, your Master Password is your encryption key, and only you know it. Trend Micro does not keep a copy of it. Trend Micro then backs up your encrypted data in the Trend Micro cloud using your Trend Micro account. When you install DirectPass on another device using your Trend Micro account, your DirectPass data is shared with that device. Because your DirectPass data is encrypted, you still need to provide your Master Password to access it. When your data changes, your file is updated in the cloud, and the new file is downloaded by all your synced devices. But you will still need to provide your Master Password to unlock the updated file on those devices. This is why, if you change your Master Password on once device, you need to update all your devices manually-nobody but you can unlock your data using your Master Password. 52
Contacting Trend Micro Before Contacting Trend Micro Try to find the answer to your question in the help system. Refer to the readme file for late-breaking announcements, a list of known issues, and other specific information about your security software. Getting Technical Support Visit the Technical Support website to find the latest information and additional assistance: For North American customers: For United Kingdom customers: You can help Trend Micro solve your problem as quickly as possible by providing the following information: The version number of your software The exact text of the error message, if any A brief explanation of what you were doing when the problem occurred (please mention any steps that could reproduce the problem) 53
