9 Brunel University: World Class Sports Training Camp in London Athletics Atletismo Atletismo Indoor Athletics Centre State-of-the-art, year-round training environment for track and field athletics One of only four High Performance Athletics Centres used by the British Athletics Team 132m, 6-lane sprints and hurdles straight 2 x long and triple jump pits Pole vault and high jump Throws nets Performance strength and conditioning area 108m2 includes 4 x lifting platforms Physiotherapy and rehabilitation facilities The athletics surface is the Polytan M system and was laid in March 2005 Landing areas and other equipment are provided by Schelde Sports UK All facilities meet IAAF technical standards Outdoor Athletics Arena 400m, 6-lane running track 4 x long and triple jump pits in 2 directions Pole vault in 2 directions High jump on a synthetic area inside the first track bend Synthetic javelin approaches in 2 directions Separate shot putt area with gravel landing areas Full height hammer/discus cage level with the centre line of the grass throws field The synthetic areas are manufactured of the Polytan porous system and were laid in September 2003 The pole vault landing area was manufactured by Pacer/Gill The high jump area and all other loose equipment was manufactured by Schelde Sports UK All facilities meet IAAF technical standards 9

11 Brunel University: World Class Sports Training Camp in London Swimming Natación Natação The Hillingdon Sports and Leisure Complex is only 1.5km from Brunel University It opened in February 2010 and is one of only 3 Olympic-sized swimming pools in London Brunel University s partnership with the owners, Hillingdon Borough Council, means that we will be able to arrange access for your team to train in these outstanding facilities. Swimming pool features include: 8 x 2.5m wide swimming lanes Transversable boom (ability to separate pool to create 2 x 25m pools) Moveable floor (0 2m) Wet-side changing facilities Low chlorine UV water treatment system These features allow us to offer a world class long-course swimming and water polo facility. 13 Brunel University: World Class Sports Training Camp in London Indoor Sports Halls Pistas Interiores Centros de Esportes de Salão Sports Hall 1: This hall was opened in April 2005 Dimensions Floor Lighting 35 x 23 x 8.5m. The floor is a sprung wooden system manufactured by Junkers. The lighting specification reaches 1000lux. Seating Bleacher seating for 300. Technical Sports Integrated scoreboard and timing. Volleyball, basketball, table tennis, boxing, judo and taekwondo. Sports Hall 2: This hall was refurbished in April 2005 Dimensions Floor Lighting 32 x 20 x 7.5m. The floor is a sprung wooden system. The lighting specification reaches 700lux. Seating Bleacher seating for 250. Technical Sports Integrated scoreboard and timing. Volleyball, basketball, table tennis, boxing, judo and taekwondo. 13 Exercise Studio: This hall was refurbished in April 2005 Dimensions 19 x 18 x 5m. Floor The floor is a wooden system laid onto concrete and screed. Lighting The lighting specification reaches 700lux. Sports Boxing, judo and taekwondo.

15 Brunel University: World Class Sports Training Camp in London Football Fútbol Futebol Brunel University is working with Brentford Football Club to provide quality football training facilities for visiting teams. Brentford Football Club stadium is called Griffin Park and is located between Heathrow Airport (13km) and Central London (15km), just 11km from Wembley stadium, where the Olympic final will be played. Griffin Park stadium has a capacity of 12,500 spectators. It has a full-size grass football pitch, full floodlights for evening use and covered stands for spectators on all four sides. The main grandstand seats 4,000 spectators, has two changing rooms with full shower facilities, bars, lounges, meeting rooms and a fullyequipped classroom with 21 computer stations. All of these facilities will be available to you to use. Brentford Football Club plays in the English Football League. The Chelsea Football Club reserve team also plays its home matches at Griffin Park. In addition to the stadium, Brentford Football Club has a training ground at Osterley 3km from Griffin Park. The Osterley training ground has five full-size grass football pitches and a pavilion with two changing rooms, showers and treatment facilities. These facilities can be made available if required. 16 16 Hockey Hockey Hóquei Brunel University is working in partnership with Slough Hockey Club to provide world class hockey training facilities just 10km from campus. Slough HC plays in the England Hockey Premier League and its teams include international players from several nations. The water-based pitch is of the highest standard and has hosted international matches including Great Britain vs Australia in The pitch is floodlit and there are full changing and catering facilities on site. 18 Paralympics Paralímpicos Para-Olimpíadas Ann Wild Five-times Paralympian Brunel Graduate 18 Brunel University s sports facilities, accommodation and catering outlets are all accessible to Paralympic athletes. Accommodation at the Lancaster Suite was designed with Paralympic athletics in mind. The Sports Park Pavilion and changing rooms will be made fully accessible in Brunel University regularly hosts Talent Identification Days for the British Paralympic Association. 20 Accommodation and Catering Estancia y Catering Acomodação e Alimentação 20 Accommodation The University has recently undertaken a massive redevelopment programme including heavy investment in its living facilities. As a result, the Uxbridge Campus has some of the most modern student facilities in the capital. The University can offer 3,770 en suite rooms. We also offer 418 standard rooms with communal facilities. In a purpose built village development, we have constructed a further 112 studio flats equipped with double bedrooms to complement our single accommodation. All rooms have washing facilities, secure access and computer network access.

21 Brunel University: World Class Sports Training Camp in London 21 Catering A full range of catering options is available on campus including a large, modern, food hall, two sports bars, and a high street style coffee shop. The University is used to catering for large scale events and provides a very wide range of food to meet the needs of all dietary requirements, cuisines and cultures. As part of our banqueting offering we can also provide prestige menus for high profile events and VIP guests. Conference and Event Facilities Brunel University has a dedicated conference suite consisting of five conference rooms, a 98 seat theatre and a 300 seat, multi-purpose, flat-floored function room. In addition, the campus also has a further 29 seminar rooms, 22 theatres and 425 seat auditorium with full AV facilities. The University can also provide access to the Beldam Gallery. As a versatile, purpose built space the Gallery displays temporary exhibitions and is an attractive venue for informal launches and parties. It is the combination of sporting, living and event facilities that makes Brunel such a unique London venue.

22 Security Seguridad Segurança 22 The 30-strong team of professional men and women who make up our Security Department are integral to the University s operations and to everyone who lives and works at Brunel. Our Security teams operate 24/7, 365 days a year and provide strict and thorough yet unobtrusive surveillance and support for our students, staff and guests. The Security Control Room is a centrally located and secure base from which the campus-wide CCTV system is monitored. It is also the control centre for access to the campus via a network of entry and exit barriers, and for the comprehensive intruder and fire alarm systems. The Control Room maintains radio communications with the security foot and cycle patrols as well as a dedicated on-site emergency vehicle. The whole team can be easily identified from their high visibility uniforms, including protective vests, which are designed to emulate professional law enforcement teams. In recent years the University s Security Team have managed several high-profile visits to campus including Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, Prime Minister Tony Blair, and Ambassadors from a number of nations.
