Location Some of the greatest names in British sport are alumni of the University, including Lord Sebastian Coe, Sir Clive Woodward and Dame Tanni Grey-Thompson. Over the years elite athletes and national federations have made Loughborough their home. As such I believe at Loughborough we can provide you with the best performance environment and elite training centre for athletes, teams and squads. This is due to many key ingredients captured in this brochure, such as our facilities, sports science and hospitality, alongside our knowledgeable and friendly staff. We consistently provide a world-class environment for a number of National Governing Bodies of Sport competing in World Championships, Olympic, Paralympic and Commonwealth Games. We host national performance centres in Athletics, Cricket, Swimming and Triathlon, and attract world-class athletes from all parts of the world to our campus. 4 Performance Centre Sports Medicine A purpose built centre which provides access to physiotherapists and soft tissue therapists. Facilities include: 12 physiotherapy beds Rehabilitation Gym Cryo Spa Studio area Private and open treatment areas 2 private consultation rooms Sports Science The physiology laboratory contains cutting edge equipment that allows for a range of testing, training and analysis. It is a shared facility with the English Institute of Sport and is BASES Accredited. Equipment includes: 7 The Performance Centre on campus is the hub for key services for sport including strength and conditioning, medicine and science. Strength & Conditioning Our strength and conditioning facilities have been designed for and by athletes, coaches and specialists to ensure that it delivers provision across a range of sports. The facilities include: 12 Olympic lifting platforms Specialist area lifting techniques and analysis Squat cages Large free weights area Throws wall Hand bikes, exercise bikes and Watt bikes Treadmills, rowing machines, cross trainers and crossover elliptical trainers Plyometric equipment 40 metre sprint area We can also provide group and individual programmes, musculoskeletal screening, injury prevention sessions, and rehabilitation work. HP Cosmos treadmill Online gas analysers SRM ergometer Measurement of blood count and lactate, haematocrit, haemoglobin mass and hydration status. There is also a separate room for carrying out anthropometry assessments, and a dedicated hypoxic chamber containing a woodway treadmill, cross-trainer and Watt bike, which can also be heated for acclimatisation purposes.

The School of Sport, Exercise and Health Sciences has a worldwide reputation for advancing research and knowledge in sport science and management, physical education, health and well-being, sociology and sport, human biology and psychology. The Sports Technology Institute has established an international reputation for its work with global brands including adidas, Callaway Golf, Canterbury of New Zealand, Dunlop, Head, New Balance, Nike, Reebok, Slazenger, Spalding, Speedo and Umbro on the design, simulation, testing and manufacture of sporting goods. Future academic and enterprise developments include: The University is to establish an academic campus, offering postgraduate and executive education, at icity on the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in London, opening in 2015 A 10 million, pioneering sport and exercise medicine centre is to be located on the University campus. The East Midlands hub is one of three across the country which forms first-ever National Sport and Exercise Medicine Centre of Excellence. Expansion plans to further develop the University s Science and Enterprise Park, which is already one of the largest in the UK, and is home to SportPark.
