2 The facts The Olympic Summer Games will take place from August 5th to 21st 2016 in Rio. Das Erste will broadcast on 9 and ZDF on 8 programming days. The opening ceremony will be broadcast by Das Erste and the closing ceremony by ZDF. The time difference is 5 hours: 3 pm in Rio = 8 pm in Germany. Live broadcasts will begin in Germany at 2 pm. Events from during the night will be summarised from 9 am the next morning

3 The facts The Olympic Summer Games will be the main topic in Germany for 17 days. Non-stop Olympics live and almost around the clock: ARD and ZDF will report on alternating days for more than 15 hours live from Rio, from 2 pm non-stop until about 5 am the next morning. 5 Exciting broadcasts There will also be up to 6 live streams for a maximum of 60 hours per day.
