2 General description of Odessa region. Territory, Location, Economy Odessa region occupies the territory of north-western Black Sea coastline. Odessa region is the largest in Ukraine by it s area 33,3 ths. sq. km. The population of the region counts 2,4 million people and consists of 133 nationalities Kyiv Ukraine Russia The total length of sea coastline exceeds 300km. Free access to Black Sea-Azov basin and to large river routs of the Danube and the Dniester gives good advantages to Odessa region in the development of transport infrastructure Romania Odessa

10 Seaport of Odessa Odessa seaport is one of the biggest ports of the Black Sea basin. Its berths allows to take freight ships with tonnage up to 100 thousand tons. Port also takes cruise ships with length up to 272m. Technical capability of the port allows to process more then 14 million tons of dry cargo and 24 million tons of oil products per year. 30 million tons of cargo are overloaded by Seaport of Odessa in 2006.
11 Seaport of Illichivsk Sea port of Illichivsk specializes in container transfer. Private Enterprise Ukrtransconteiner realizes invest project in Seaport of Illichivsk that provides improvement of container terminal with purpose of capacity increasing The project s realization program is provided till The total value of investments is 500 mln. USD More then 50 mln. USD have been already invested in the project. The opening of the first turn of the new Ukrainian container terminal, that meets the European standards, will take place in November 2007.
12 Seaport of Yuzhniy Seaport of Yuzhniy specializes in overloading of bulk cargo and chemistry industry products. Annual value of cargo transfer in port is 12.5 million tons. The biggest cargo-transfer terminal in Ukraine situated in seaport of Yuzhniy in 40 kilometers from industrial part of Odessa Harbor of seaport Yuzhniy The main kinds: Mechanized covered warehouses, united with belt system 11 kilometers of belt lines Deep berths Non-freezing harbor
13 Industrial potential Companies of petrochemical and machine building industries, repair and assembly of machines, metallurgy and metal working, chemical and petroleum chemical sectors, food, light, and other industries are available in the territory of the region
14 Odessa Ammonia (Priportoviy( Priportoviy) ) plant The enterprise is one of the biggest ammonium plants in Ukraine The stuff consists of 3.8 thousands workers The plant has the biggest ammonia terminal in Ukraine with annual capacity of 4.7 mln. tons and the biggest in Europe storage facilities of 120 ths. Tons. Odessa Ammonia handles near 50% exports of ammonia and 20 % of urea on the national level
15 Agricultural complex 2,6 thousand square kilometers are farming area of the region. It makes 78% of whole land supply. In 2006 in Odessa region were raised: Wheat 2808 thousand tons Vegetables 569,4 thousand tons Sunflower 367,5 thousand tons Potato 297,5 thousand tons Sugar beet 239,8 thousand tons Grape 197,4 thousand tons Fruits and berries 81 thousand tons
16 Institute of wine-growing and wine-making named after Tairov Odessa region historically is a wine-making region. More then 50% of Ukrainian grape is raised in Odessa region.
