A-1: Letterboxing A-2: Art Therapy A-3: Leading the Way to Highest Awards Letterboxing is a great way to get outside and do a fun activity with girls and adults. We will be making rubber stamps to put in containers, which we will then hide on the trails around camp for each other to find. Unlike geocaching, letterboxing does not require any GPS and has a wonderful artistic side. Take a moment for yourself to assess your feelings, determine what brings you joy and what causes stress, pain or frustration. Then release these thoughts into art! We'll experiment with colors, designs and words. Let go, relax and refocus! Come learn about the adult role in Highest Awards. Whether it is supporting a troop leader whose girls are working on their Bronze Award, helping Cadettes pursing their Silver Award, or serving on highest awards committee there are

Come explore the basics of Highest Awards so you can see what fits you best. Wondering what the new curriculum looks like? Come to this workshop and learn about the new Basic Overnights and Outdoor Overnight curricula, how they progress from one another and what specific changes have occurred. This workshop will help you identify sources of conflict, your personal style for dealing with conflict and how to match the style to the situation. The course content focuses on conflict between you and another person (not mediating the conflict of 2 others). The development of mindfulness: being aware moment-by-moment of our thoughts, emotions, sensations and surrounding environment. It is a proven, effective way to combat the unhealthy stress that has become a part of our lives. Having a personal mindfulness practice helps us to sleep better at night, avoid adrenal fatigue, helps us learn better, be more present for everyone in our lives, have better mood regulation, and avoid ugly confrontations. Once we are more mindful and present, we can teach this to our girls. THAT is priceless! Do you really know what is most important to you? Staying motivated in and with anything is dependent on being clear about what is most important to you and then taking steps to make sure that those elements are present in your areas of participation. Volunteering is an area of participation? IF you are not feeling motivated in your volunteer role, it is time to take a look at how to make sure that at least some of the elements that are important to you are present in that arena. If they are not, then what? You will have an opportunity to explore that in this workshop. Do you have time to stay current with adult learning? What do you understand about lifelong learners that makes them different from regular folks? Are you a lifelong learner yourself? Come to this interactive workshop and participate with your colleagues in exploring the current educational thinking around adult learning. We will use online tools throughout the workshop, so feel free to bring a "device", if you have one. Looking for a way to increase participation by including on-line or remote options to your face-to-face meetings? Trying to find an online tools that won't break the bank? We will explore chatting, video chats, shared spaces, desktop sharing, conference calling, and other options and trends in virtual communication options. B-1: Native Trees, Shrubs and Flowers Identify and learn about native trees, shrubs and flowers. Which plants are edible? Used by Native Americans? Learn quick identification tricks and stories about the plants. Be prepared to walk around the camp to see specimens in the wild.

Join like-minded folk for a casual song circle in the middle of your learning day. Song Sharing, lyrics handouts, and some brainstorming about how to fit more singing into your Girl Scout toolbox. Come spend time getting your hands on and get comfortable with the various online learning modules Girl Scouts of Western Washington provides for volunteers. Ask questions about content and walk away with a list of all the topic s covered in each module. Have you ever struggled to understand older girls and wished you could help keep them interested in Girl Scouting? If so, join us for this interactive workshop to learn how the teenage girl s brain works. Then enjoy a teen panel to hear the voices and experiences of teens in our Girl Scout community. This is a great workshop for those working directly with teens and for those working with the adults who guide teens. Want to add some zing to your meeting? Try adding a Hot Topic to keep your meeting participants coming back for more. What is a Hot Topic? The Learning Department has several mini-workshops that are only minutes long and can be led by anyone. Come to a fun and informative workshop to learn what Hot Topics are available and get tips on how to lead them. Similar to mindfulness, heartfulness is the intentional nurturing of open heart states such as kindness, empathy and compassion, and appreciation of innate differences between people. Taken with Mindfulness or alone, these trainings will improve your ability to manage a number of significant psychological challenges associated with stress. An experiential training introduction of techniques for becoming more heartful with just a little introduction of the science behind the techniques. What does it mean to communicate with impact? Does it mean resolving conflict effectively? Does it mean letting others know what is most important to you? Does it mean knowing what is most important to others? This workshop will give you tools to help you effectively deal with these questions. Do you have time to stay current with adult learning? 4 BLACK DIAMOND CAMPS is conveniently located 35 miles from downtown Seattle in Auburn, WA. They offer two types of overnight accommodations and a variety of locations for our workshops as well as space for the entire group to gather for our keynote events. Hotel Style Accommodations These rooms are equipped with linens, house two people per room and have en suite, private bathrooms. 1 night + meals = $100 2 nights + meals = $130 Single occupancy upgrade = $50/night Dorm Style Accommodations These rooms will have between 2 and 4 occupants, do not include linens and have a shared bath. 1 night + meals = $80 2 nights + meals = $100 Each hotel-style room has a double bed and twin bunk beds as well as a private bath. Each dorm style room has bunk beds and is located off a shared living room with a shared bathroom attached.

5 These fees for the conference only partially help to defray the cost of the site, meals, overnight accommodations, conference program and program supplies. Financial assistance is available. In addition to the meals served, they also provide a breakfast cereal bar with fresh whole fruit, assorted cereals and yogurt, as well as a lunch & dinner salad bar with mixed greens, fresh vegetables, protein items and fresh whole fruit. If you feel that the combination of family-style meals and the cereal and salad bars will not fulfill your dietary requirements, the camp has let us know that there is refrigerator space available as well as a microwave to heat meals. Please contact the Learning Department if you feel you will use this option so we can ensure that these accommodations are available to you during the weekend. Staying two nights?
