5 Prerequisites You are responsible for ensuring you have the proper prerequisites. If not, you will not receive credit for a class. For example, you need IAR10 to take and gain credit for IAR20. Some classes do not have prerequisites. For example, there is no prerequisite for BFP20. If you fail a compulsory class, you must repeat it. For more information regarding the necessary prerequisites, see the registration handbook or your course planning sheet.

7 Advanced Placement ENGLISH and MATH This is a continuation of the Advanced Math and English programs. Student performance from semester to semester will determine who continues in the program and has the opportunity to write the AP exam in May of Grade 12. FRENCH Recommended by French Immersion teacher in Grade 12 year. VISUAL ART In consultation with the art teacher in Grade 12.

10 Extended Math Programs Current Math 90 Prep Students Leave two open spots for Math. Admin will come into your class and explain what will the process will be. Current Math 90 students Register for MWA10 and MFP10 (unless you were unsuccessful in Math A90 or Math 90B) Your math teacher will talk to you about the option of extended MWA10 and MFP10 over 3 semesters You will receive a form that is required to be considered for the program. Discuss with your parent/guardian and return the completed form to your math teacher. Current Grade 10 and 11 students If you are in an extended math program DO NOT register for any math online Admin will come into your class and explain what will the process will be.

11 Extended Math Programs If you are not currently in an extended math program and found MFP10 difficult, you may want to join the extended math program for grade 11 and 12 (MF020/30 over three semesters). Still register for your chosen 20-level math classes, but talk with your math teacher. Fill out a extended form and return it to your teacher. We will make the change at the office.

13 If you are in Grade 9 and interested in taking Science 10 and a 20 level Science next year: You must have a final mark that is 80% average or higher in Science 90 You can choose either ESC20 or HSC20

14 Health Science 20 This course will challenge students to look at the health science field from holistic and analytic perspectives to provide a basis for making sound personal health choices. Students will also investigate the range of health science careers and postsecondary programs available in Saskatchewan. Student will apply information in the areas of: medical knowledge systems and ethics, human anatomy and physiology, nutrition and metabolism, and medical diagnostics.

15 Environmental Science 20 1 Sentence Students will examine local and global environmental issues through scientific and indigenous perspectives, leading to the development of environmental action plans and investigation of environmental science careers. Student will examine the areas of: climate change, water, soil, and air quality, urbanization, bioresource management, Waste handling and disposal, Land-use planning, and the impacts of agriculture and industry on the environment.

16 Physical Science 20 Students will learn a combination of Chemistry 20 and Physics 20 in an integrated hands-on manner, studying both public and private science as it occurs in agriculture, industry, and universities to help students better understand the physical science related career paths. Students will explore areas of: heating and cooling, the mole, quantitative analysis of molecules, chemical reactions, and the characteristics and properties of electromagnetic radiation.

17 Biology 30 Science Genetics, biotechnology, evolution, and organization of life in all kingdoms through the study of biomolecules, cellular processes, and organism function. Chemistry 30 Chemical science, naming of compounds, chemical reactions and atomic theory. Strong Math is essential. Physics 30 Light, optics, waves, heat, analyze data, motion, mechanics, energy, gravity, electricity, nuclear physics. Strong Math is essential. Computer Science 20 Computer hardware, software, computer networks, HTML, XHTML, JavaScript.

18 Registering for Modified Programs You can register for Math 11, 21 and Science 11, 21 on-line If you are in other modified programs, please choose the regular course that aligns with that course. We will switch you over to modified course in the fall. For example, choose His10 for modified His11.

19 Elective Offerings at St. Joseph High School Elective classes are offered based on the number of students that sign up If less than a class size register for an elective class it will not be offered. There are no prerequisites for Grade 10 electives

23 Career and Work Education Will be offered in Pd 4 and 5 as a 2 credit class for Grade 11 and 12 students only. CWE10 and CWE 20 in Grade 11 CWA30 and CWB30 in Grade 12 Must have your own transportation. Work placements will occur in pd 4 and 5 on a daily basis YOU MUST be able to work during that time.

24 Career and Work Education There are 60 hours of classroom time followed by 120 hours of work placement(s). Attempts will be made to find placements in your area of interest but there are no guarantees. You must accept your work placement.

25 Learning Assistance If you are not currently taking Learning Assistance (LAS) this semester, but would like to take it next year please see a counsellor, or an administrator ASAP. If you are currently taking Learning Assistance (LAS), you will complete course registration in your LAS class.

26 Band Students Grade 10 Band is back to back with Wellness 10: select BAN10N and BWE10N Grade 11 and 12 Band is backed with Christian Ethics: for Grade 11, select BAN20N and CET20N for Grade 12, select and BAN30N and CET30N

27 Choral This is a year long class that can be an 11 th credit. Choir meets 2 to 3 times a week in the mornings. In Grade 10, select CHO10N In Grade 11, select CHO20N In Grade 12, select CHO30N

29 Cyber School You cannot choose Cyber School Classes in your online course registration Register for these classes on Cyber School
