4 Course Selection Process Presentations will be conducted through history classes ( W. Geo and World History). Dates: Grade 9-Feb 9 th and 10 th Dates Grade 10 Feb 16 th and 17 th Students will be handed a print out of the courses they entered on their 4 year plan, along with a paper course request sheet. They can make changes online or on the paper copy. Parent Agreement for advanced courses will be electronically approved by parents. 6 Course Verification First course verification to parents will be : April 11, Second Course Verification to parents will be: May 2, 2016 At this time, students will be able to submit any changes. All changes must be submitted by May 9 th.
7 Dual Credit- Class of 2018 Qualified students have the opportunity to earn high school credit toward graduation, as well as college credit for designated courses. Dual Credit classes are offered at ORHS or Lone Star College. A list of classes can be found in the CISD Program of Studies. Most credits transfer to Texas Public Universities. Always research the colleges you are interested in to make sure credit will transfer.
8 Dual Credit- Class of 2018 Dual credit classes offered junior year on ORHS campus are: English 1301/1302 US History 1301/ college credits. Each student will have an official Lone Star transcript. 6.0 GPA scale (classes taken at Lone Star campus transfer on a 4.0 GPA scale). Students will be dropped from the Dual Credit program for a grade lower than a C.
9 Dual Credit- Class of 2018 Steps to complete process 1. Choose DC English, US History (juniors)or College Algebra (seniors and qualifying juniors only) on your ORHS course selection sheet. A maximum of 2 DC classes on the ORHS campus per semester are allowed. 2. Apply to Lone Star College online at: 3. Complete the pre-assessment activity (after 24 hours). 4. Sign-up for the TSI (dates on ORHS College and Career website) 5. Fill out your blue dual credit form. Be sure to also fill out the parental consent waiver form. 6. Turn in your completed forms to Ms. Gibson in E202 by May 9th and be sure to attach your qualifying test scores. 7. If you do not pay by cash or check on May 9th, you will need to log into your mylonestar portal and pay online after May 11 and before the first day of class. *Please pick up the informational dual credit brochure after the presentation.*
10 GPA Exemptions 3 rd and 4 th year of a sequence of a class. Must have earned B s in previous courses. Course is excluded in GPA calculation. May exempt one course junior year and one senior year OR two in the senior year. Benefits students with GPAs higher than 4.0.

13 Sophomore/Junior Year Timeline All Year Research colleges. Work on your resume in Naviance. Get involved in some kind of extracurricular activity. Volunteer in your community. Spring Choose courses for your four year plan wisely. Continue to take challenging classes and classes that support your college or career path. Consider completing a summer enrichment program (look for details on Naviance in the early spring).
14 SAT and ACT The SAT and ACT are college admissions tests. If you plan on attending a four-year university, you need to take one or both of these tests. Colleges accept either test. Register to take one or both of these tests in the spring of your JUNIOR year. You can choose to take them earlier than that. Most students test during the spring of the junior year. Check out the Conroe ISD Test Prep sessions for help in preparing for these tests. ORHS School Code:
