5 Students taking Algebra I or Algebra II will receive high school credit and that grade will be calculated into their high school GPA. Students who earn an A or B (final average) must go on to the next level in high school. Students who earn a C, D, or F (final average) can repeat the class will show as course attempted on their transcript. All students enrolled in Alg. I and Alg. II will take an End of course Exam (EOC). This will be 30% of their final grade for the class. Students must take four years of math once in high school.

6 Students taking Spanish I in place of reading will receive a high school credit and a grade that will be calculated into their high school GPA. Students who earn an A or B (final average) must go on to the next level in high school if continuing with foreign language. Students who earn a C, D, or F (final average) can repeat the class will show as course attempted on their transcript. Foreign language is not a graduation requirement but most universities require two consecutive years for admissions.

7 Civics Education course EOC constitute 30% of the final course grade If a student enrolls prior to the 2 nd semester of 8 th grade year, he/she must have Civics and take the EOC.

8 4 year high school plan was completed through 8 th grade History class in November. CHOICES.org We explored career interest and developed our online profiles. The students will have access to these accounts throughout high school.

9 English/ Language Arts (ELA) Mathematics Science Social Studies 4 credits with major concentration in composition, reading for information, and literature (must pass the Grade 10 FCAT 2.0 Reading or earn a passing concordant score on the ACT or SAT) 4 credits, one of which must be Algebra 1 and one of which must be Geometry (Algebra 1 EOC results count 30% of the final course grade; student must pass the Algebra 1 EOC to earn a standard diploma; Geometry EOC constitutes 30% of the final course grade) 1 credit in Biology (Biology EOC constitutes 30% of the final course grade) 1 credit in a Physical Science course (Earth/Space, Physical Science, Chemistry or Physics) 1 credit in equally rigorous Science Course 1 credit in World History 1 credit in U.S. history.5 credit in U.S. Government.5 credit in Economics U.S. History EOC constitutes 30% of the final course grade if enrolled in the course beginning in the school year and thereafter

10 World Languages Fine and Performing Arts, Speech and Debate, or Practical Arts Physical Education Industry Certification Electives Grade Point Average (GPA) Online Course Not required for high school graduation, but required for admission into state universities 1 credit in fine or Performing Arts, Speech and Debate, or Practical Arts (eligible courses specified in the Florida Course Code Directory) 1 credit in Physical Education to include the Integration of Health Not required 8 credits Cumulative GPA of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale 1 course within the 24 credits, excluding a Driver Education course (unless the course was completed prior to July 1, 2013)

12 Scholar Designation In addition to meeting the standard high school diploma requirements: Pass the ELA Grade 11 Common Core Assessment, once implemented 1 credit in Algebra 2 Pass Algebra 2 EOC, once implemented 1 credit in Statistics or an equally rigorous Mathematics course Pass the Biology 1 EOC 1 credit in Chemistry or Physics 1 credit in a Science course equally rigorous to Chemistry or Physics Pass the U.S. History EOC 2 credits in the same World Language Earn at least one credit in AP, IB, AICE or a dual enrollment course Merit Designation In addition to meeting the standard high school diploma requirements: Attain one or more industry certifications from the list established (per s , F.S.)

25 This distinction is available at all high schools. The diploma requires a minimum of 4 Advanced Placement (AP) courses over 2 different content areas. Students must earn a score of 3 or higher on 3 or more AP exams. GPA requirements are a weighted AP G.P.A. of 3.0 or higher. The diploma requires a minimum of 100 hours of community service.

26 Honors course typically require homework and nightly reading, daily class work, essays, test and major projects. These courses are weighted, therefore, they carry a higher value in your GPA.

27 The College Board's Advanced Placement (AP) Program is a nationwide program consisting of more than 30 college-level courses and exams offered at participating high schools. Subjects range from Art to Statistics. Students who earn a qualifying grade of 3 or above on an AP exam can earn college credit or advanced placement or both, depending on the college or university. Students in Florida's public secondary schools enrolled in AP courses do not have to pay to take the exams.
