3 How to Get to Senior Year - English III A Total of 18 Credits

4 Graduation Requirements 4 English (English I, II, III, IV) 4 Mathematics 3 Sciences (Earth/Environmental, Biology, a Physical Science) 4 Social Studies (World History, American History I & II, Civ/Econ) OR (World, APUSH + S.S. elective, Civ/Econ) 1 Health/Physical Education 2 Electives: any combination of: CTE, Foreign Language or Arts 4 Electives strongly Recommended in CTE, Arts, or any core area 4 additional elective credits Total: 26 Total credits

6 UNC System Minimum Requirements 4 English 4 Math (Math I, II, III, 4th math) 3 Science 2 Social Studies (1 must be from US History) 2 Foreign Language (of the same language) 2.5 min GPA min 800 SAT (critical Reading & Math) or 17 composite on ACT 16 UNC Universities in NC to apply

7 Classes that are considered a 4th math for UNC schools Advanced Functions and Modeling Essentials to College Math Pre-Calculus Math elective courses (not a 4th math): Any foundations course Any AP Course (Statistics & Calculus) Intro to College Math

8 Community College and N.C. Private Colleges Community College Admissions: Open Door Policy For College classes, need High school diploma or GED equivalent. N.C. Private Colleges/Universities: Entrance requirements for NC 36 Private Colleges and Universities vary among institutions. Visit each school's website or call the school to find out the school s requirements for admission.

15 Example 4 Year Plan Sheet Enter the grades you received for each class you have taken. Star the Courses you are currently in. Circle the next course that you should register for, for next school year.

16 The Registration Process Process for registration: Everyone who is currently in English classes will be seen in their English classes. If you had English last semester, you will register with the counselors in the Drivers Ed room. You will receive a pass telling you the date/time of your appointment. Think seriously about your class choices because once they are verified, there won t be any schedule changes!

28 Preparing for your Senior year AP courses Require you and a parent/guardian to sign an AP Contract Cannot drop an AP course once you are enrolled Be prepared to complete summer assignments prior to the class beginning (even if this is a 2nd semester class) Early release Only for Seniors Think about your next step (college/career/military), how will early release effect your future plans?
